If GM's want to encourage RP then they must remove the friction that prevents players from joining an RP guild.
The current policy as I've been told by a GM is that name changes are only allowed in rare cases and players must write a story to get a name change. I can see having a player write a story if he is interested in RP items. I don't however see the point to it when a player named Phil McKracken has a change of heart considering his doodness and wants to change his name to something more RP oriented in order to join an RP guild. Asking such a player to write a story is just pointless red tape and prevents the growth of the RP community.
There is the argument that someone who chooses a silly name in the first place cannot be that serious about RP. My experience is that this is not always true. I've seen players become really good RPers after receiving a name change and joining an RP guild.
There is also the worry that player X will use the guise of joining an RP guild so he can get a name change because he has a poor reputation with his current name. Once player X receives the name change he will then quit the RP guild and no longer RP. This will likely happen but I think it will be a rare occurrence. And when it does happen the end result would still be a positive one anyway. Player X whose name was something silly like PooperScooper now has a more respectable name like Nym, and thus the status page has one less silly name on it. When potential RP oriented players think of joining a server they will check the status page. If they see too many silly names they move on.
One other thing to worry about is players seeking name changes to join an RP guild when in actuality the guild is not RP and simply use the rule to get their members name changes. What I suggest is that RP guilds form an RP association (there may be one already). The association polices itself regarding who belongs in or not and only guilds part of the association have the perk of requesting name changes for potential members. This name change rule would only apply when a player has an unacceptable name and wants to join an RP guild.
Right now there is not a strong RP community on the server. I think this change would help to start to create one.

So i noticed that my horse is not my horse anymore... (traitor ****!!), i guess this happened because i didnt feed him a single time, is that right?
If thats the case, how often do i have to feed him so he doesnt leave me?
I have some more questions below:
1 (about Vet): Can a GM veterinary resurrect mounts? The last shard i was playing you could make a mount loyal to you, and this loyal mount's spirit would wander around once dead waiting to be resurrected by a vet. Is that possible here or veterinary is just used to heal monsters?
2 (about BS): Im kinda confused, i spent a couple of days mining to get 20k iron ingots to start training BS, i went crazy when i saw that i only gained 4.0 skill points with those 20k ingots... (i got 55 BS) is that normal? is it really THAT hard to raise BS even at low levels? Don't get me wrong, im not complaining, every shard is as their admins want it to be and we must deal with it if we choose to play there, im just asking around to know how this shard works
3 (about Healing): I noticed a few things using bandages that feels strage to me. When i use a bandage i disarm (not a problem having razor) but do i stop attacking too? I noticed that when i bandage myself and reequip my weapons my characted takes A LOT of time to strike the monster, way after i receive 2 o 3 of their attacks, so im not sure if my char is defending himself from the hostile attacks os still attacking by my previous command (im not sure if i made my point... i just wanna know if i have to reattack the monster after bandaging) I also noticed that you cant cast any spell while bandaging, am i right?
4 (about attacking): I also noticed that MANY times i need to spam double clicks (many times) to start attacking a monster, i double click it, then double kill its hp bar and my character just doesnt want to attack him, the solution i found in razor was a macro to select a new target and AttackLastTarget, why would that be?

Im new here, but been playing UO for wayyy to long. Reg books would be nice to see here, Store all regs and potions in a book thats pretty much the same as a rune book. Also when you cast a spell make it not turn towards who or what your casting at. Will reduce pull back lag alot and improve game play.

I sailed to one of the pillars and said the word that should send you to the lost lands and nothing happened. Are they turned off for a reason or is it buged?
