I tried WOW, last year, it was fun, quest after quest, tons of useless items, feels good tho doesn't it.
I know this isn't WOW.
But there's a reason WOW is still popular today.
Have more Quests.
shard definitely has potential, when i saw the Spell book Quest and the quests in the Merc camp, i was like ****ing A,
then dissapointed, there arn't to many other quests like that.
you could have fully automated quests like that, all over the world, some in red towns some in blue..
all give different items... repeat over and over.
the Quests for thinning population to gain skill books is ****ing genious.
Only problem is.. You only have them for Combat skills, and yet you have combat so easily trainable in merc camp with practise weapons and sparring partners. Thats Great leave it be.
But how about Adding some Quests for skill books for the HARDER skills. i don't mean make em easy like the other quests...
But ya know pretty rare, might add another item for people to sell in vendors for the market economy idea...
But the point is to have like 100's more of these in game automatic quests....
Even if just the Prize at the end is gold, make it worth it.
go kill 20 dragons, and get 50k...
I like that idea of killing certain amount of monsters of a type and then going back to the quest vendor and cashing in.
Maybe every once in a while throw in a alchemy or bs or crafting type skill book, i mean rarely but would make the whole thing worth while...
People want automated quests...
This idea would go great with the other suggestion i made that taran loved, for a pop up window with advice or tips n hints...
have tips n hints for other quests....
Oh go to destard and see the smelly old indian in the third level for a quest for killing dragons or something..
You guys already have the idea going....with all the other automated quests..
So i can't see it being to hard in implementing more and more quests of the same time..
this will attract players alone... 100's of ingame quests for 100's of random items...
Maybe throw in a random bless deed for one item here in there 1 out of a million chance...
Anyways just an idea, UO is old, and dieing fast.
Hard to get players interested. But if it has a few more modern game type techniques or features implemented, which you guys already have, but need to kinda add more of, then i would say this server could easily attract more people.
and secondly.. I would make VOTING using the .vote command, give a little more incentive..
1k? for every 12 hours?
I can go hunt for 12 hours in the same spot non spot and probably get close to 100k in 12 hours time...
maybe have every time you vote you get a VOTE STONE pearl or something.. once u get like 50 vote stones, u can cash it in for a random dye tub or something.. something to that effect.. 1k gold doesn't seem to be cutting it..
average of 150 players online, every 12 hours should have 300 votes in a day? either way shard isn't getting enuff votes with the current 1k incentive..

I understand that RP is not required here, but to be honest I never expected to see players named "Kids in Africa" and guilds named "plx don't kill"... isn't there a requirement to have at least decent names? I am new to the shard so I don't mean to start complaining or anything, just wondering what other people think. I don't mean to impose my RP on others, but others should not ruin my RP either...and it's hard to keep a straight face when I guy named "Budweiser" walks by you...
I'd like to do a list of things I consider would get the shard better
- put a richer random loot system would add some pvm interest, and could create an auction section for the forum (really funny, i tested before somewhere else)
- the auction forum should be followed by simple rules like: 24h from the bid, if no one else bid the last bidder win the auction, no more than 1 up in 24h by the owner, min bid, instant buy if the owner want, etc..
some has then implemented an in-game auction linked to the forum one, but it would be a plus, i think the forum is even more funny for that stuff
- make rune books that can be newbied by a medium-difficult quest, or by reward scroll (at the end also the magic books are newbied, and its more about a pain to lose it than a treasure for the one that steal it...)
- add some tamable creatures that can fight only in pvm, to revive a lil bit the tamer figure in pvm...... now it is dead, and a lot of ppl like to play tamers
maybe followed by a quicker increase of the skill till 70, and set the rare mounts tamable only with 90-100. where at 70 you could tame for exe. something you can already use for pvm and still train it slowly to get stronger
(- hire some ppl that likes do gm questers, to organize, even one time a week a quest live, not automated, (the best should be with no pvp allowed less than for factions or guild wars, but this may be criticized by many here) for those i'd like to point out that its only an exception for these rare happening quests... even the tourneys has pvp friendly rules)
- a "declare war" "truce" etc. system in the guild stone could be nice for example (idk if is already there actually)
the common system where after a guild declared war to another, the two can hit each other on sight everywhere...
- about PVP, one idea should be to give certains armors a magic resist but a major spell flizzle (so that only melee will use it) and make mana regen. lil bit faster to anyone**, so that some ppl will pvp as warriors and some as mages,
to do this its also needed that mages can't wear heavy armors anymore or the wars would be disadvantaged, so for ex. let only the leather to regen. mana normally
- eliminate mana potions in pvp**
about the pvm a solution can be found, for ex. you can't use mana pot while in combact... this way in pvm you'll have your summons there and you warmode off and drink
and in pvp you should have to run very far away and be not targeted
atm thats all, when I'll have other ideas I'll post it
ADD:
- prohibits autoloot macros (by inject or razor or any) on pvm quests
(its bad to see one or two guys among 8 looting every nickel in half a second because of the macro)
- another idea for pvp, always keeping the idea melee/mages that would balance even more can be adding spell flizzle if hit by a melee weap
and especially talking about bandages, the war would count almost only on that to heal, so a way the war heals faster with bandages should be find, for ex. if you are at peace with mana you bandage yourself more faster
What do you think about healing skill? You need to use approximately 10 bandies to heal from 1hp to 100 so its 30 seconds. It's absolutely useless at pvp and pvm. Pvp shouldn't be based only on spells. When player is out of mana he should be able to survive at least a little more than 2 fs and light.. With this efficiency you can delete it as well. Only advantage of carrying aids is that they are god to disarm before being paralysed. On IN1 it worked much better and pvp was better, not only based on mana.

Could someone tell me some good spots to get fame? I just want to be able to sit there with a couple blade spirits and a Halberd.
I was wondering if perhaps we could add granite types for the rest of the ores? Possibly this could coincide with the possible changes to mining that have been mentioned, or if it's not difficult, just done anyway.
As it stands, you can only mine granite up to and including Dwarven, with the exception of Fire it seems for some reason.
I found out about a month ago about the anti-autocut script when I successfully made one in injection. I realized even using the portion of the script to target nearby corpses at the click of a button would trigger the anti-autocut script and trigger .kill on the character using it.
So here is the issue I ran into earlier today at minoc. I was doing what I do everyday, giving miners and hunters a bit of adversity to overcome.
While at Minoc, I trapped one person between two stone walls. Nothing fancy, just the normal cross pattern with the person in the middle. After killing him I used my useobject weapon in injection for a cursor. Used the cursor to select the body but I could not apparently find the damn thing to target it.
So, I used SHIFT-CTRL to bring up context menus. Then using my weapon for a target, I clicked the CORPSE that showed up with context menu. THIS action triggered "Autocut detected!" anti-script and .killed me. I reported this issue to I believe Talos, who imediately responded (Thank you Talos) and ressurected me on the spot after explaining what happened.
Now, how did this happen when I did not use any form of a script to target the corpse. Even further, this could present a huge glitch, albeit rare to occur, when people are ganking and someone is .killed by script for autocutting when they are not.
Any ideas?
I just updated using the IN Patcher and now my screen is smaller, there's no longer any blank space around the normal game view, what's going on? This is really starting to annoy me :I
