I want to know who would be willing to enter a chess tourney if I held one next weekend sometime. Also what time is best for the majority of the players on say Friday or Saturday? Please state the best time for you in eastern standard time. As for staff who would be willing to attend?

Lets start a thread that explains the very basic need to know parts of all the different features on INX. Please also say what kind of category you think your need to know fact falls into and I'll edit my post to keep it all up to date. Here are a few to start us off;

Getting Started
-Read the PVP guides here
-Noobie dungeon is ontop of Britain bank.
-North of brit bank you can find the Minstry. In the basement is runebook to all the towns and a runebook to a lot of dungeons.
-Take a look at the player guides section here. You can find a lot of macros for Razor and Injection here!

For Fun:
-There's a Casino outside Britain where you can earn lots of cash!

Resource Gathering:
-To mine granite stones you have to have 100 mining, read a book on mining granite that you can buy from an NPC and then left click your pick axe and select 'set to ore and stone'. Remember to change it back to 'set to ore' if you don't want to mine granite anymore. You can buy the book from the NPC at the camp outside the mine east of Minoc.
-To mine sand you have to have 100 mining, read a book on mining sand that you can buy from an NPC and then use any kind of shovel on a sandy area. You can buy the book from Serilda in the main Britain mage shop.
-To mine clay you have to have 100 mining, read a book on mining clay that you can buy from an NPC and buy a clay digging shovel to mine in a swampy area. You can buy the book and shovel from Landon at the tinker shop north of Brit bank.

Quest Related
You can find the NPC for the Naturalist quest at the Library in Britain
You can find the NPC for another part of a Solen quest somewhere in the Solen caves.
You can find the NPC for the Apprentice quest along the road that goes through the mountains west of the Britain farms then north towards Yew. The NPC is in a ruined building in the forest off the road. Have your UO map open when running along the road and you'll find it.

I know we have voting stones in several locations ingame but I don't think these are enough of an 'in your face' sort of thing.

Back on XUO maka had set up 3 gumps that would appear every so often asking you to vote. If you voted you got a few hundred gp depending on the vote site (max was like 2k) and you wouldn't get the gump again for another 24 hours since the vote sites only let you vote once per day. If you didn't vote you'd keep getting the gumps every x minutes.

Does anyone think we should add this to get the vote count up, or do people think it would annoy players more then it would help us?

Hello everyone,

My name is Will. I used to play on a shard you guys may have heard of, Flint Hills. It was awesome when I played (which must of been literally 9 years ago). I had tons of fun on that shard and must of played there solid for like a year. Wasted my entire freshman year of high school, who cares though anyway. It was my first time to play UO I had been playing StarCraft on Battle.net and was in a guild (haha guild for Starcraft, I know) who also played on Flint Hills. They talked me into joining because the guild was an extension of the StarCraft and Diablo guild. It was awesome, my first day on the shard I recieved a box full of goodies to my newbie eyes. I had a full set of plate armor, sword and clothes with 1000 gold pieces. I was put in a 1 room house which I shared with a new member as well. We trained together, shared the house and hunted together and the whole time helping provide for the guild. Our guild was one of like 9 big guilds on the shard ranging from Order, Chaos, Neutral, and Crafting guilds. We started originally as a Crafting guild but quickly rose too offense to fend off the chaos guilds terrorizing the mines and paths out of Minoc and Britain. When the shard crashed and the hard drive was ruined I followed my friends and played on the original IN with Ralire. I had tons of fun, IN at the time was a bigger better version of Flint Hills which I didn't think was possible. There were so many guilds for all types of players. You had the ******* immature kids, you had the crazy RP guilds that Art thou'd everything. You had the guild dedicated to helping new people, all kinds of stuff going on. You didn't have massive skill gains, freebies, or anything special (not including GM guided events and quests, those rock!1!!) I guess the point I'm getting at is, you don't need to get rid of a certain people, add skill gains, allow afk macro, allow injection anything like that to make a shard prosper because all that stuff does is speed up the time it takes for someone to get tired of something. When everything is so easy it loses its wow. We need the players, each and everyone of you who want this shard to prosper to invest more time and THOUGHT into increasing the fun-o-meter. How could would it be if you were new to a shard and someone approached you wearing a guild tag and asked if you were new and were interested in joining. Then you were given starting stuff and told you have to earn your keep by providing ingots or hides or whatever profession you so choose, if you wanted to be a defender of the guild you were required to partner and train with someone else to gain skill to fight off enemy guilds. Its all about player interaction and players playing with players, not locking yourself up in a castle with the right macros and items so in 2 weeks you can bust out and be UBER l337 at the next (once a week) PvP tourney. GM's shouldnt be responsible for making this shard great, the players have to do so much more. I am currently in the process of forming such a guild for newcomers. I have so many ideas, ideas that make me excited to put them into action. And I dare, some of you other guys that are in a guild just to be in a guild, start a new one with prupose. Like just off the top of my head ( I know its gonna be cheesy but hopefully you get the idea) Start a Britain Toll Gang, like be ruffians who squander money from the local merchants that pass by, hopefully inspiring a Britain Militia guild to form. Its all about using imagination, and if you don't want to use your imagination why in the hell are you playing a game with 2D graphics...

All I'm saying lets try to capture the spark of the old ways and the old fun, I know what it takes to get there. Do you?

P.S. This thread was meant for inspiration, flamers be nice Rolleyes

since no one responded to my original topic, i decided to make a new one

Many years ago the Darkelf race lived somewhere in the Wastelands away from all humans. Born with a necklace around the neck wich grants them a new chance for everytime they fell to the ground they could train very hard to become a strong race and protect each other through hard times. the darkelves have looks like the human and speak the same language but their strenght is at a higher rate and their skincolor is very dark. Darkelves also react alot quicker than a human and are born with the knowledge of fighting and magery. Even though the Darkelves were strong, they wern't too many to be able to stop a big raid that attacked them one night. There were to many of the bandits and they were very skilled in combats and they seemed to know that darkelves couldnt resurrect without the necklace, so they paralyzed the darkelves, removed the necklace and killed the darkelves. One by one the darkelves fell to the ground for the last time.. all except for a little boy. That boy managed to run away from the raid without anyone noticing it. Out in the wild without anyone he didn't know what to do so he looked up at the stars one night and said: What is my purpose with life if not live with the my own kind?
He then saw a falling star pass by to the north. He decided it was a sign to go that way and he would find the star that had fallen. He travelled many days without food and being a little child it became very hard for him to continue travell but he was determined to find the star. 15 days passed and he was still without food and he couldnt continue. He passed out and fell to the ground..
5 days passed and the kid woke up once again.. but he wasn't in the wastelands. he was in a cabin. there were some men sitting around a table and started to brag about their adventures of how the managed to plunder different villages and so on. The little boy went up and saw food at the table but was afraid to just take without asking so he asked a man: Sir.... may i have an apple? The man shouted: Well Hello there little one! Had a good sleep? Of course, eat as much apples as you want! You must be starving to death!
The kid ate as if he hadn't seen food before. the men started to tell stories about the gods but the little kid was unfamiliar to these gods, so he asked who these gods were. The man who gave him the apple told him all about Oden, the most important god and his eight legged horse, the two ravens, hugin and munin who watched everything on earth and reported all to Oden. they told him all about Valhalla and they taught him everything they knew. He even learned to speak their language. One day one of the leaders told the now grown up darkelf, what happened to you that night we found you? The kid told the whole story and they were surprised of what happened. Then one asked: Lad, whats your name?
My race called me D'lor dreankhen. They had a hard time to pronounce that so they agreed his name now was Fable, as from stories. Fable lived many years with the vikings and trained all the time and they were impressed about his skills. One day he even managed to beat some of the strongest. But he never managed to beat the four leaders. He was determined to show them that he could be stronger than them so he trained for all he had to give. One day he wanted to challenge the head leader but he had left to the sacred place where only the four leaders were allowed to be. Fable decided to go out in the woods and hunt for some boar to eat. He was gone for days but when he returned he saw the whole village was ruined, in ashes. Fable was devastated. Everywhere he had lived turned into ashes sooner or later. He didnt have any traces of who did this so he couldnt demand revenge. Instead he left to search for his old roots. He wanted to know his background more. Fable encountered many dangers and noticed that his Necklace glowed everytime he was in a near-death experience. He realized the necklace was his source for resurrecting so he took care of his precious item very well.
17 years have now passed and Fable went to the bank of Britain where he heard some strange people talking a weird language.. but he recognized the language! It was the ancient nordic language wich the Vikings spoke! He went closer and realized it was the old leaders who he once wanted to prove his strenght for. He spoke to them and they all regained old memories. But he didnt remember the leaders having blue skin. They told him everything that had happened the past 17 years. He told them as well what he had done. Once again the Vikings were rejoined!

i would like to have a skin reward (2530)

diamond necklace with color (2557) named Light of D'lor Dreankhen

After spending many weeks at the Britannia healer for some medical care, mainly through the use of leaches, Don Tazione is finally released by the medical staff back into the world of Britannia.

While leaving the healer's Don Tazione spots a group of cloaked people hiding in the shadows of the Inn. Don Tazione avoids paying them any attention and makes his way back to Nino's; his favorite tavern. Having not even made it off the street the healer's is on, he feels someone give him a hard shove and he falls face first to the ground. Having spent several weeks strapped down to the most uncomfortable of beds Don Tazoine's muscles had atrophied and he was unable to defend himself as he easily could of any other day. After a beating that seemed to never end, the thugs stole the one object on Don Tazione; a letter from the healer's that reads as follows:

Through meticulous prayer and our advanced knowledge of the brain, we have determined the issue that has been plaguing the man who admitted himself under the name of Don Tazione. He was suffering from a constant state of disbelief and shock. We were able to probe his mind through the use of hypnotization and discovered the reason for his state of being. Rather then speaking of these travesties we have taken a vow of silence in such matters. After many long weeks of applying very concentrated amounts of leaches on this man's head, we were able to erase these memories from his mind. Unfortunately several other memories appear to have been erased including any converstations he had since arriving in Britannia and any friends he may have made, along with his sense of self. Strangely he continues to show an aggressive side in between our hypnosis sessions. After the first two weeks of sessions he could no longer remember the name he admitted himself under and began telling us his name was Atreides, and he had no idea who this Don Tazione was. Since this setback we have been able to return this man to a stable mindframe and have released him into the world of Britannia. We will pray for him every day that he slowly recovers his lost memories and in that time learns how to deal with the harsh reality of his past.
