New Players
#13

Yeah but if players are going to come here for a non-sphere feature and then see that is the only baby feature we have here they won't stay anyway when they can go elsewhere for item insurance and corpse retrieval and all those other worthless features that ruined this game.

As for renting a room, well it could be set to 250 gold for a week, which takes minutes to get even in the newbie dungeon with almost no skill.

Another idea I had, though I'm not very fond of it personally, is adding a new command like .donate or something that would allow players to send an item to a chest that only new players could open. I think that would be helpful as well if players were actually willing to donate even the junkiest things.

There are other ways to help new players get started without making them invuln (even if just in towns). Eru has a big project in the works to help them get started as well.

I was under the impression we were talking about 2k a day, if it's set low then we're good.

BOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO, need a tissue? you got back stabbed and lost what 400k at most of items? Cry me a river will ya. You quit a shard because you lose items your pathetic, wouldn't even take that long to get the stuff back. And what would you need this shit for when all tourneys are auto-supplied? Grow the **** up instead of being a quitter why don't you get that person back. Who cares if you lose stuff its a GAME!! Have fun with it highly doubt you just play uo for items.

...

Think about it if I joined a shard and knew I would be able to macro safely in a guarded city until i reached x amount of total skill I would macro all the necessities first. I know myself as a new player would recommend the shard then to other players cuz they have the time to macro some skills properly without always being killed (seriously ppl gotta stop doing that to noobs), it also creates an attraction to the shard imo

100% agree with this. However I have to point out it's ironic you want people to have a 100% safe macro area when you, scare, smoke, (and even me a few times) ganked, cut, and loot afk people in town. Maybe they weren't noobs but the effect is the same;

-New player sees someone afk get ganked and guards aren't even called and it makes them think 'wow that's stupid'
-New player gets ganked before they can say guards and makes them think 'wow this is stupid I can't even macro in a blue town'.

I wouldn't call it a baby feature Shade, I'd call it noob friendly Smile once they pass x skills or x time ingame they have to face the harsh reality of INX.

If we're talking a weekly amount, 1-2k isn't very hard even for a new player who has skills to macro. If it means a safe macro spot I think people would be willing to pay for it as long as they got something like a water trough.

I like this idea for a few reasons;

-Nobody is forced to donate and those who can donate give what they can. (one person's trash is another person's treasure).
-For people like Rabbi and Hiro who usually give items to new players might not be around when a new player gets on the first few times so now they can still get something Smile

Personally I'd add a note when players take something it says 'courtesy of ___'. It's always nice to get a thank you.

The one flaw I see with this is that someone will make a new character and try to collect. So long as the *checker* to see if someone qualifies to take something checks how old the account is and not how old the character is.

Hmm, how about if the GMs just made a newbie academy somewhere in Brit where only newbies can enter. Put like, casino doors on the front of it that use skill-checks so only people with less than X amount of skill can enter. You could put training dummies, skill trainers and water troughs, etc in there and make it a no PVP area. Disable AoE spells and summons also. Maybe have a chest like the one mentioned that people could donate items to like shields and weapons for macroing combats.

they weren't NEW players tho and im tired of logging on and seeing no one on right now, it's not like there's much gank now anyways.

as for madman i will agree with him but not his exact words. I get where he is coming from. If u look from our point of view there's not many things to do, which is why we're not playing as much...I think me and Jackal & Eru had a good discussion about this late one night and it all boils down to playerbase...

Not to sidetrack this thread but it also comes down to where events aren't even fun anymore because u have half the people in events who dunno how to use pvp strats/skills. Like CTF for example some people don't even know how to paralyze...(not to mention the auto flag pickup script...)

Yes I understand they weren't new players, as I clearly said in my post, but for a new person to see this isn't something good for the shard.

You have to accept that though luda... It's only natural for some people to be better then others at events, even on XUO there were people who had no idea what they were supposed to do in a dm, ctf, or cw... If we get new players of course they won't be able to participate in an event the same as other people, but you can't start saying they're ruining the event because then they just won't join and then the GMs will cancel the event because it's not enough joiners... Maybe next time that you see someone who doesn't know how an event works, explain it to them after the event, or give them some scripts so they can work better in the event...

Afterall it's just not server features that make a difference, it's how the players act too! If you're looking for a new shard to join and you see 'INX - x y z awesome features'. You login and the first thing you see is people flaming each other, people whining and yelling at GMs, nobody willing to help you when you ask for it, or people telling you 'piss off you fracking noob'... In this scenario the staff did more then their fair share of work attracting players, but it's the other players who made them leave. Not because there was nothing to do, not because they didn't like the pvp, not because they found skillgain too hard, but because everyone is an *******.

LudaKrishna Wrote:Like CTF for example some people don't even know how to paralyze...(not to mention the auto flag pickup script...)

Wait are you saying everyone should have a auto pickup? In my opinion that ruins a CTF because it makes it harder for new people without it since they will never get to return it or carry it... sometimes I quadruple click on a flag when I'm 1 tile away to return it and BOOM someone else grabs it before me... Yea that's really cool... Sounds like auto cut to me!

Anyways you said let's not get off topic with this, I just wanted to point out how what you're saying doesn't make sense from a 'good for the server' perspective.

I'm saying that we SHOULDN'T have it, I haven't used it but I do know some people who are. I agree with you on how it ruins CTF.

Ah ok then, it was a little unclear in your post.
