At least it's better than babelfish. That thing had terrible translations.
The problem with translating Japanese with google though is that the verb tenses confuse the bajeezus out of it.
shinnen = new year
akemashite = te form of open
omedetou gozaimasu = 'congratulations'
kotoshi = this year
mo = subject marker like 'ha' but implies 'also'
yoroshiku = kindly / well
on‌egai = request / wish
shimasu = form of 'to do'
new year open congratulations. this year also well request do.
Not that anyone's interested in a Japanese lesson.
