Subject of Debate... please read full post

Jiraiya Wrote:First, if this was allowed, its pretty much a slap in the face to everyone who built there chars and earned all their money/items without being able to macro resource gathering on multiple chars. That makes it rediculously easy and I'll tell you now, there will be people running 4 miner chars or 4 lumberjacks at once, its easy to do with easyuo. The DIS-advantages of multiclient far outweigh the advantages. It will become almost mandatory to run multiple chars to keep up with people who do it. Plus like shade said it will completely destroy the resource gathering economy. Also you end up with a whole slew of monsterbashing problems, say I'm trying to kill a very hard boss, I can use one guy to lure him into a spot and then just para him with the other, then res my first guy. I'm sorry eighty but I am 100% against this idea.

lol just 4? i'd go for the extreme and have one character at each mine. don't care about macro gump, ill just one a healer character that walks around and res anyone of my character got killed my the gump. that will take me to the top of the economy or the bottom... as anyone could do the same.

There are extremes and then there's what's within limits/reason.

Like I said in a previous post it could be capped at 2 accounts per player. Nothing crazy and it really helps with that boredom factor of having a character macroing almost non stop (at least in my case).

And Theo what a useless screen shot. There you're talking about every account ever created has a character logged in vs my 2 account per player limit which would double the players at most. Not everyone will want to multi anyways and at times some people won't have both accounts open and some times people will be logged off on both. And I'm sure the WHOLE world or every action spot didn't look like it does there at brit bank.

Allow at least account lending! Sometimes i want to log in on my friend's character to transfer some items and so on. Its not like I will be online on two accounts in same time

I have yet to see a good argument about how people will be able to GM most skills in half the time. All those poor saps who had to spend their time gathering resources and then macroing with them after. If this is added players could do it all at the same time. This is of course a slap in the face to skill balancing that has been done and also to all the players who GM'd their skills with a single account.

I don't know, I see many more cons then pros on this topic. Is this worth faking people into thinking we have a big playerbase, screwing with the economy, giving old players the short end of the stick, unbalancing skill gain, unbalancing mobs, having to rework scripts, becoming just another one of "those" shards, and so on... Oh and lets not forget that there would have to be some sort of jail system that would catch ips upon being jailed and jail accounts with the same IP. I mean if someone breaks the rules they shouldn't be able to just switch the accounts right? So much trouble just to fool people I say.

Well Shade it's not just to fool people. It also greatly helps the players that are currently going through that painstaking process of GMing skills and those of us who are tired of not actually playing and spending all our time macroing.

When it comes down to making decisions that can affect the whole shard, we can't always be thinking 'this favors new players and won't be so fair to people who did it'. If we always think like this very little changes with a big impact will happen and we won't be able to attract new players because they have such a hard time in moving to a new shard. Let's face it, UO isn't getting more players, it's just getting the players who are there now and if I played shard 'alpha' what motivation do I have to move to INX? Yes we have awesome RP and PVP, but that doesn't HELP a new player.

the screen shot don't prove nothing as i said it was only to test the server. and Shade mention he could made accounts and have them stash around the world to lure players with numbers then generally that's what it would look like.. but more spread out around the world. as this is my opinion to your first point, which don't need multi-cilents to accomplish.

yes it sure hell will make the server look good, but hell, what's the point when you want to see some actions when there are 60 players on but really it's only 30 (which is not bad) but still a bit hard to find anyone doing anything outside of events and quests. a bit of a disappointment if i'm new to the server.

like others have mention there are ways to abuse this system, that it's less troublesome to not have it. and you can't expect everyone to follows rules in reality.

again don't get me wrong im up for changes if need. if somehow you can manage to figured out a freakin awesome plan to work this out between everyone then go for it.

Well there has to be something that monitors there's only one account made per IP or that there's only one open connection per IP, right? I doubt the GMs are manually going around every 5 minutes comparing the IPs of everyone ingame. I'm not super knowledgeable in C# (only did a little C in school and that was mostly serial communication), but it can't be that impossible for a script to log the IP of anyone who connects, compares it to a list of already connected clients and if there is a double then jail the offenders or send a message to staff letting them know to further look into it. Now you just make sure there isn't more then 2 of the same ip.

Theo Wrote:speaking of making fake numbers. here's a picture of what it would look like.

this was on new years eve, 2 hours before mid-night for me. all the Rose colour players are actual active and moving. all the rest are what Nasir wanted to see what the server were capable of lol. so Nasir decided to make EVERY ACCOUNT to log in at once. and remember only 1 account allow per IP.

i could only remember a few people from that day. imagine... all those damn people blocking the way, i would totally bring llama bomb back lol.

In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have tried that... but it was awesome nonetheless. Big Grin

Exactly the point. This server, unlike 95% of the shards out there has real value in skills because they take some time to do. If you allow multiclienting, even limiting it to 2 accounts, you'll have people GMing smithing in 3 days, carpentry in a week, bowcraft in 1 day, etc. What about all of the players that started with nothing and worked hard for months to GM skills? You don't HAVE to GM all the skills in 6 months. I did all my own resource gathering and wrote efficient macros and had the majority of my skills GMed in 2 months. All you need to do is AFK macro while you sleep.

I'm absolutely against the idea Wink

Also you arent forced to GM all , you do if you want!

If you think something is way to hard, just buy what you want from the person gmed that skill.

Also eighty you are overpricing things, I see blood rock armor for 10k (less sometimes) and xtreme parts for 10/15k, A full set of invul is like 100k same for Xtreme.

I prefer Alzheimer than Parkinson. Better forget to pay the beer than pour it all.

The Love Tent, all you need in PvP Suplys for a good Price! And some other things Big Grin!

While I agree with you on this it is still very long to do, especially like you say 2 sentences later; for someone starting with nothing. Maybe I'm having a very hard time adjusting because I've been spoiled with what I found to be good skill gains on XUO.

Rabbi Samild Wrote:What about all of the players that started with nothing and worked hard for months to GM skills?

Very true, and as I said sometimes changes are for the better, even if it makes it 'unfair' to those who already did something the hard way. Although this point isn't very valid coming from you since you had VERY good crafting transfers from INR. I think it was something like 60-70%? XUO players got 40% on crafts, which you can almost buy up to from NPCs for a few hundred gold.

Rabbi Samild Wrote:You don't HAVE to GM all the skills in 6 months. I did all my own resource gathering and wrote efficient macros and had the majority of my skills GMed in 2 months. All you need to do is AFK macro while you sleep.

True, but I'm very stubborn and once I start something I'm determined to finish it Smile AFK macro over night isn't really an option for me considering I've waken up dead after macroing for a night in brit by NPCs...

Rabbi Samild Wrote:I'm absolutely against the idea

Well we are 2 years later so you have all the hard work done and want to hold on to your little portion of the monopoly as tightly as you can, hence why you are so strongly against this change, like I'm for it because this change would favor me and other returning players who weren't around for long and new players.

Rabbi I'd like to see you and other old INR players who got good transfers start a character from scratch without help from any other players or your other characters and tell me how fun it is when you macro night in and night out...
