Smurtle, there is a difference. I'm not going to stoop to your level and start calling you names but just think about it this way:

If someone is watching TV or coding in another window and is alerted of the AFK gump, they still have to "be around" enough to manually respond to the gump. That is in NO WAY as bad as leaving a mining macro on overnight which automatically checks the right gump button or auto resses.

I'm fairly confident that avoidance of manually checking the afk gump is what Pande is referring to as "AFK macroing" I hope that he can reply soon so that you will stop calling everyone names and acting like your opinion is the only one worthwhile.

Why should they be alerted? How is AFK macroing, but not AFK macroing, not afk macroing?

You see, my opinion seems to be the only one worthwhile because you're supporting a system that basically makes it worthless to have the gump whatsoever. Wow, a warning because you're watching TV. You're AFK.

You make no sense when you try to define not being present into two different categories. I can understand sitting at your keyboard, coding, which means you're not [SIZE="7"]away from keyboard.[/SIZE]

This is just another way to try and sidestep as closely as possible and dodge the rules. I can watch TV all day long, then get up and go click the gump once a warning comes up. You're still AFK.

I suppose if I steal something and I'm not caught means I never stole in the first place.

I'll run through some afk harvesting situations to clear things up for everyone:

1) "legal" afk harvesting

You are running your harvesting script while talking with people on msn, watching tv, a movie, sporting event, etc.

This is allowed 100% because you can easily check on UO and see what is happening. You don't have to constantly stare at UO, but just check every few minutes.

2) "illegal" afk harvesting

You start your harvesting script and head out for a night on the town with your friends.

You are profitting by putting in 0 work in comparison to someone who is sitting there watching their script. The person watching their script puts in more work but gets the same reward. This is not fair.

3) "but i was there!"

Before jailing you, a staff member will watch you for a few minutes to see if you're doing the "legal" or "illegal" afk harvesting. At some point if you go to get a drink or go to the bathroom this is not considered afk harvesting because we're all human and need to do this at some point. You do run the risk of getting caught by the auto gump, but we won't jail you if you don't answer us right away.


The person I caught was clearly doing the "illegal" afk harvesting because when I took away his pickaxe his macro kept going. Someone watching/listening would of realized they weren't mining any more or that something looked fishy with their character. I let this go for a minute or two thinking maybe he is getting a drink. But when this went on I was pretty convinced. Next I jailed him and he kept walking around trying to get somewhere. Clearly he was "illegal" afk harvesting because he didn't notice he was magically in a 9x9 room with no dungeon floor.

Yes GMs are capable of making mistakes and that is why before we jail someone for afk harvesting we will run a few tests. Issuing the autogump wont help if the person's script takes care of it.

Why would I feel like an ass? AFK macroing is afk macroing, regardless if you have a script to bypass and warn you.

Make it Illegal to afk macro any skills.

First offense

.kill Command is used

Second offense
.kill command is used, you are jailed for 5 hours aswell. All items in character's direct backpack are removed except for gm rewards and noobied items.

Third offense
.kill command, jailed for 10 hours , removal of items from backpack with same circumstances as above, and all resources are removed from bank pertaining to that skill, INCLUDING removal of GM reward for that skill until further review by Staff. (If not macroing a crafting skill, deduct 30-50% of that skill being macroed with no return of skill unless the player earns it back through more work.

Fourth offense
Banned.

Galens thats a good system if you want the shard to peak at 50 players. I know I would personally leave if afk macroing any skill was illegal.

Making a shard is like starting a HIGH CLASS[quality] restaurant.
You start with a certain community and you build the restaurant, but you're never sure of the outcome. It might be good or it might be bad.
YOU CAN sell your food for 1$, but then you'd make no profit and screw yourself over and go bankrupt.
OR you can sell your food [which is high quality] for the real price [super expensive]. At first you won't get a lot of customers, but once the word spreads around about your food being quality there won't be enough tables for all the reservations.

I did give a solution. Jesus Christ you're stupid. I mean, really, really, really stupid. It makes me worried that you're even allowed to leave the house and enter the world and perform any function. I fear for the safety of society.

I said those punishments originally were fine. AFK macroing is AFK macroing. Not there means AFK. What the **** do you not understand? There are no two definitions for away unless you're mentally not present but physically there. Then I proposed they stop being pussies and stick with killing and removing your shit for cheating. Dipshit.
