I dont mind donating but I sure hate to see money wasted. I know that I donated over $30 trying to get INR up and it turned out that it seems like it was all wasted. But one thing is for sure..the lag is experience is unbearable

It varies so much now. One day the lag is unbearable so I just don't even bother macroing, then the next day it's not so bad. It seems unfair these Canadians get these great pings and us U.S. guys seem to fall on our faces.

Malaki I know a lot of people donated money to IN:R, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to have it online at all.
But it wasn't a waste of money, if you hadn't donated then IN:X wouldn't exist, would it?

And I can fix a donation status bar, no problem. Right now we have about $100 and I will have to look at different hosts and see what they cost before I decide.
Anyone have a good suggestion? I know IN:R used

Hmm... what are the major factors that determine a fast server?
BTW, Im in the middle of the U.S. (Oklahoma), and I average about 130 ms ping, which is hardly noticable in UO.

I disagree... I don't see why we should pay money for a server that gives us 130 ms...
I say we get something we're going to be happy with, something thats worth the money. We dont want to pay for a server for which once its up and running theres still lag issues.

If you guys have huuuge ping one day and low ping the next day then that does not sound like an "unfixable issue" tho, and that's a good thing. The unfixable issues are usually that u live too far away and that the ping just isn't as low as you would want it - always. But if it goes down to low ping sometimes, and high at other times, then it sounds like it's either "your" connection OR something messed up over at xs4all that causes it, because if it can be low once, then it can be low all the times, that is if your connection and xs4all has an good connection between each other. If that is your issue then I think you should try to mail xs4all about, and see what they can do about it.
This server has been hosting XUO for years, and almost nobody has been lagging. It's weird how half the shard seem to be lagging now, did we really get that much more americans than we had before? perhaps we did. Either way like some other people in here said - a new server costs LOADS of cash, and it'll take loads of donations to get one. If we can fix this one to work good (since we get it for free), then that would be a lot better. I dunno if it's even possible tho, but if u had low pings at one point, then I think it could be, so contact xs4all and we'll see what happens. If it stays too laggy for too many players then yes - we will have to fix it somehow - but for now lets try to let xs4all deal with it first, since they host this for us for free, plus they are a real good game hosting server normally.
P.S: We care a lot about that our players should not lag. Lag ruins the game play and I am very much aware of that myself, I've been in your shoes before. It's just a matter of what way that is the best to deal with it right now, and I believe that the first step should be to mail xs4all and see what they can do, because a new server will cost loads of cash and right now we cannot afford that, since we do all of this for free for you guys. D.S

RackSpace, with their fanatical support ...
truly amazing and worth every Euro !!
I have 2 dedicated servers there hosting several web-services and they are the most efficient crew I ever worked with, costly yes, but in this kind of business you tend to get exactly what you pay for

From what I can see RackSpace has a limit of 150GB a month? We have used more than 500GB of bandwith in 1 month according to the network viewer I installed on our server, hehe.
