Moving the server is a huge project and will take time, the server will be offline for a couple of days.
Not to mention the host we have now is free. But if we were to get around $2000 in donations to cover the first year (yeah, that's what it costs for a decent host), then I don't see a problem moving the server to a better host that has a lower ping average for everyone.

well i reckon this shard has two options:
1. Move the server(somewhere like US where pings are more rounded)
2. Keep the current(shit) server and lose alot of players too lag
and yer... we been waiting for awhile to see the lag to be fixed. Getting impatient

would be good to sus out new servers located in the US and then get a cost and stuff worked out to at least look at the possibility of a new server rather than sitting around in this lag

Well... Unlike back in the day when i was a kiddie and still going to highschool and was a cheap bastard... Now i got a nice Kooshy Job and in fact yes.. I can Play UO At work. (Kicks ass knowing your getting $19.25 an hour to sit and Mine). So im willing to dish out 100-200$. (maby more depending on how many hours i can get).
... I know back in the day we had a "Donation Bar" where they'd keep it updated on the site and would show how much people have donated and how close we were to goal... maby do somthing like that again?
PS: Does anyone know how much it costs to advertise on places like Mac-hall, reallifecomics, Gu-comics, Vgcats, Ect? I know alot of old school UO players read those comics and forums religiously and would bet money (heh, pay money for advertisement) we could beef up our playerbase if we could get the word out that a Run-UO sphere server was doing well for itself.

Something needs to be done about the lag for sure. I live in Finland and I'm getting 400ms on average. It's lagging so badly that my BS macro keeps breaking. You know it's bad when you can't even do crafts.

i dont think the lag were experiencing now is due to the server location so much as the server itself. i usually have a ping of 30 and right now its 800

I agree, we need to find a solution to this lag. As far as donations go, maybe we could put in a donation system that allows for in-game items. Of course nothing that would be too useful, but maybe a colored item ect. I know that for the most part we want to keep IN:X original, but maybe the admin should take a look at Defiance-UO's donation/reward system.

how about being able to buy statics with real money, that would make it easy to raise whatever you need.

I agree...I lag so bad most of the times I cannot even hunt, much less pvp, so I have not been playing lately, and prolly will not play since it is such an immense waste of time to me because of the lag. I would donate towards a new server, but I would like to see a donation bar, a running post, or something that would show us how close we are to the new server.

I dont mind donating once I start working again, (Going for an interview today wish me luck) anyways the donations / reward thing is cool as long as its not skills, houses, gold ect....... a cool Coloured piece of clothing or weapon that says Donator or somthing along those lines that is noobied would be a cool idea so it shows that that person is supporting the shard.
Thanks for reading my two cents
