PvP Observation.

Diabolical Wrote:I joined the tournament yesterday thinking it'd be some fun. No, not really. I was wondering why I got a spell book, no one even used them. Unlimited scrolls and potions. Every fight is the same way, everyone running around in circles, spamming, guzzle guzzle guzzle, fs scroll, fs scroll, fs scroll.

I think that you should have limited supplies so you don't RELY on scrolls, and make scrolls a kill shot, not the only spell you cast.

The entire time yesterday I was wondering why I wasted my time gming magery and healing, because both of the skills are useless, it only takes like 70 skill to cast a scroll and you get no time to do any healing because of the pots and scrolls.

Also, the square you fight in is entirely too big, I had to purchase a ticket to get to the other side of it.

Pure bullshit

I could quote people all day, read a lot of posts, only going to respond to a few, and for that I'm sorry.

Going as far as to say No vus PvP was based on lagg and total manas? Hilarious, considering they only had total mana refreshes for a bit, and as soon as they were noticed as a problem they were removed. If you played old Sphere PvP where XBows of Vanq were the 1337 shit, you'd know what I was talking about. Do I think it should be like that? No. Do I think there's a lot of goobers tearing up about adapting to a more advanced PvP system, yes.

We could talk about this all day. People are never going to see eye to eye. I've had this problem on POL servers where people HAD to have items to PvP, quite frankly I find that Diablo II'ish and lame. What happened to the good ol' days of suiting up with a set of regular platemail and a shity weapon with a bag of reags and pvping? People are crying now because it takes too long to resuit, yes it does. You got make more potions, and scrolls, because you NEED them to PvP, why? Because EVERYONE has them. You have to fight their way or not at all. And don't get me wrong, I like the idea of scrolls, I just think it's lame, especially in tournaments where it's entirely based off of it. I think tournaments should be based on skill. And I firmly believe that you'd see a lot more skilled duels without them.

In the tournament I was in, bandages were useless. People ran around the entire time, spamming non-stop. There is no time to heal. Bandages do not heal faster than a scroll can kill you. Not to mention even with GM healing it's a risk to use them, because with 100.0 Healing skill you can still have a chance to heal like 5% of your life, and when you're getting hit for 45+ in a matter of a second, it's useless.

In open PvP, I don't really care, people can scroll, drink their potions etc. Because they can lose it. In a tournament which is supposed to decide who is the best of the best, I think it should be done with the bare essentials.

And to the guy who said something about how come only 5% of the shard is posting. Not EVERYONE has a forum account, a great percentage don't even PvP and a lot of them don't even speak good English and don't feel like trying to make you understand what they're saying. Also a lot of people may not want to get into the obvious drama this conversation brings. There's been enough conversation about this topic for it not to be taken into consideration.

Also, to the tool who said "pure bullshit". Nearly 3 paragraphs of quotation and that was your only response? Try not posting next time.

I remember when I played at first XUO. I was dueling into those little boxes (where you could loose money or stuff) for weeks to learn to PVP and master it. I should say I loved it. I think is the most dinamic and tactic based over the world. The mechanic is just awesome, guys. I was looking for a shard where you had to THINK while dueling and I found it. When I read all your posts criticizing PVP... I can´t believe it. Seriously. PVPing never was so challenging for me!
The only bad point I see at INX is the impossibility to get scrolls and pots for everyone. At XUO we all could make them ourselves... here it is a almost imposible mission to raise alchemy and inscription to GM so early.
I would also suggest to practicing more "tournament 1vs1 PVP". Not only ganking, because the best part of the XUO PVP is the tournament PVP.

PD: Powerwords have to be adjusted. It is silly to infinite spam powerwords.

i think you told scare in another post that spamming didnt confuse you
sounds to me like it does.

besides that i still dont understand your point at all
only the noobs are gonna dump on you unless they think your nobbier than them and know you cant heal out of one
everyone does it there own way but i use bandages and pots more than anything to save my manna. then i just wait for the guy to dump on me
(unless im dueling someone decent)
always ready with my reflect scroll which is faster than a fs by the way

honestly if you see that many ppl using nothing but scrolls it's because they either dont have gm magery or there new/not that good at
xuo pvp it's just that simple

Hm, are you sure that was at No-vus? I can't remember them ever being removed until the server closed. All the replicates of No-vus had them in it as well. The first time I played an PvP without total manas was when XUO opened just after No-vus died, so I hightly doubt they removed total manas, but at the same time it's been 100 years since then so I could be wrong, even tho I doubt I am.

I think that it's a good thing that you need scrolls and pots to PvP properly. If it would not be that way when people would not have to macro for shit, and magery and inscription would be completely useless to GM. Plus the PvP would be real slow and crappy unless you would "speed up" normal casting spells. Plus without potions a biiiig part of the XUO PvP would disapear, and that's not what we're looking for. You have to try the PvP a bit longer before you decide upon if it's good or not if you ask me. Once you get used to it and have your supplies ready I think you'll love it.

After you've macroed some scrolls and pots it will almost be "real easy to resuit", and if people complain then they're just dumb. Put like 10 manas, 5 gheal pots, 6 fs scrolls, 10 lights, 5 gheal scrolls and 10 reflect scrolls in a bag. Then do the same thing to like 50 other bags. Put them in your house / bank. It's not that expensive (in the future when u have your skills) to have that "few" pots and scrolls in a bag, but it's easily enough to gank. Plus you'll get way more when u kill people.

Killing people to get items is always more fun if the items are worth something. If scrolls and pots wouldn't matter people would just run around naked killing each other, nobody would even bother to suit up. No fun to get no loot. I would probably stop ganking if it was like that.

Oh well, that's just my point of view regarding that issue.

Spam is not an real spell. Unless the guy actually hits you for 45 hitpoints ALL the time it would not be needed. As long as the hit causes less than 80 hp or around that you can easily use an bandage. Even if it would fail you can always hit the gheal potion and the gheal scroll and get up to high mana fast, then just normal greater heals to heal the rest of the way, or reflect scrolls (while spamming) to cause the other guy to FS himself and perhaps even die if he used XUO scrolls on you.

If we would disable scrolls and pots in tourneys it would cause the duels to become real crappy. Trust me. I've seen people fight with the XUO PvP without scrolls and pots, it's just so slow and boring. Try fighting some friend with it, and then without it (after you've learned the PvP style), and you'll see. :]

n0x* Wrote:As the PvP Coordinator at INX,

I agree that the our wop command can do with a bit of slight tweaking however I do not agree that magery and healing are useless. Magery is required for many many actions, PvP included. Figure them out. Healing is just as important other than the obvious fact that it heals you, it can also be used as means for PvP strategy. Think about it. What is your main objective other than sending ur opponent back to oblivion? Having them run low on mana.

Other than that 'minor' adjustment, there is nothing wrong with our PvP.

Diabolical- you enjoyed ***** and "old *****" pvp. THAT pvp was a load of shit my friend. It was slow, it lasted years because of items such as total mana refresh potions, scrolls were blatent and boring; no variation. He who lagged less was the winner.

Thank You!

no, reflect scroll and fs scroll are exactly the same speed. 2.1 seconds. Adds more to strategy

Good post, though.

I suggest you people read my PvP guide, it explains all of that in context. Its on the website.

i think that in 24 days people couldn't have pvp enough for undestand the xuo pvp

1º because there were so less pvp outside of cities, because newbs in server like me need time to increase some important skills, and there isn't too much money for buying everything.

2º there aren't so much pvp tourneys same as 1º

3º if im not wrong if we are playing sphere is just because we like sphere style and pvp.

4º in 24 days u wont earn how to pvp nice is like blacksmith for been very nice you have to pvp a lot (same for being gm blacksmith Wink, take that note IN players.)

Disagrees:

1º like other post said, i think that all the weapons should be looked because its better to play with more weapons than bardi, battle axe...
I love War hammer :S, but here of course i will use bardi and battle axe till the damage or the weapons are fine Wink

2º the .Wop is nice the only problem the abuse of it(too much spam)

see u

I'm almost certain that Probe removed the ability to make full mana potions about the same time as he had to put up NOS II due to too many players. However, I think he gave a warning about it and people just made thousands of them and they were still being used when he closed NOS and NOS II.

I remember using them all the time while NOS II was up, and all the time after NOS I and NOS II merged into one shard. I remember PvPing with my friend at NOS II and the only reason we used small manas at that point was because he didn't have enough alchemy, so I had a friend make me full mana pots back then until I gmed my alchemy. I am very doubtful that full manas ever was removed from *****, but due to the fact that it was loads of years ago I could be wrong, who knows, but I doubt I am Wink
