RP Items difficult? I think not
#13

This is kind of a rough subject because I feel that everyone who rps should not be taken down a notch just because some fail to rp. On that same note I do feel that for these rewards a certain level of effort needs to be put in and if it isn't those people should be punished.

Now I rp in game and do so if I post in the rp forum and I will be the first to say that I slip up from time to time. The only thing I slip up on though is typos really, once in awhile I forget to say a specific daemon word here and there. With that said, it is really simple to play out the role of your character outside of little mistakes. As for me, you won't see me "hang out" at britain. Sure I may pass through or even spend a few minutes there but I'll be damned if a daemon trains his skills surrounded by humans.
These are the things that get to me... you have an evil, non human character, they should not spend countless hours in a human town. They should not speak in caps 24/7 or use abbreviations.
Some people need to start taking this more seriously and punishment needs to be put into play. People slip up, I understand that... behind our comps we are all human afterall and it shouldn't be one failure and you are screwed. On the other hand there are way too many people wanting to rp for items or skin hues and care nothing for playing out their role. These people should re-read their story and realize what they got themselves into. As an example the alien race, it would be a cool thing to be played out properly and I was a bit curious to see them in action but I am not too thrilled from what I have seen so far. Plus in their story I noticed mention of an alien language that I have yet to see used... unless that consists of english but in caps. Not trying to pick on them and I would be really happy if they played it out properly but right now nobody seems to take it seriously.
Anyways, I realized I just went on and on ranting about worthless opinions but I would really like to see warnings be given out, even to myself when I slip up, and rp not just be about items but a different level of fun. And yeah it can be fun.
So maybe hire a couple counselors that can do nothing but tele around and stay invis to keep an eye on people sometimes. With all the work you guys do and have left to do we can't expect it to be kept up with. As I said before, players can police this but for the most part they shouldn't have to. Once a few players are singled out for their ill intentions I think this will get under control.
For now any players that feel someone is out of character should let the staff know because they are busy and have lives and all that good stuff. It seems weird to need players to watch over this but really it isn't much different then reporting someone taking advantage of a bug. It's abuse and rule breaking. Feel free to even report me if I do something ooc :p
sorry for the long post.

Can someone explain what it does mean to play like a role player..
Because i guess it's something total different then playing in a musical e.g.
I even guess that i have role played on Obsidian for like 6 years ago..

Role playing defined by MY terms.

To act out a role/life of a non realistic chararcter to make them seem/appear realistic.

This includes any conversation possible EXCEPT, harassment, cursing, and various profane acts seen to be unfit for role play.

This includes( BUT is not required) showing the dedication to provide an excellent background for which your character can use during gameplay. (Notice all the RP stories in the Britannia Times section.)

This includes separating your text from public eyes. Role play in public, and state in every text or state at beginning and end of conversation (OOC)(Out of character) This is a provided excuse from roleplaying if you are somewhat like me, and do not believe in government spied messenger applications like AOL, AIM, YAHOO, MSN, etc. It is very important that you separate your text. As roleplayers/medieval characters would not know what a toaster is, a razor application, a macro, a butterfinger bar, etc.

Those are the rules I follow.

When role playing, use common sense. If you visit a mine cave, and there are plenty of miners in there, commont on how bad it smells. Of course hard working miners smell horrible. Or if you see a murderer, perhaps you get a bad feeling from the individual. Emote your feelings and thoughts in the game so its obvious you don't know he/she is a murderer, BUT you sense evil in their hearts. Any human can sense evil and good. Cats and dogs sense evil and good. Again, use common sense.

Another note on this topic.

I do agree with it being unfair that the trial is below 2 weeks for some individuals (IF THIS STATEMENT IS "TRUE")
I do agree that their items should be revoked, as they have seen plenty of warning on the Britannia times section from Azrael.
If you see these acts being committed, tell someone, don't keep it inside you. Take screenshots for more proof, or even better, use a recording application such as "Fraps" to catch the act. There are massive possibilities. I would start with pageing a GM though. Then get your own proof. Paging an authority is the best way to handle a situation before you yourself take action

Example:

You get into a car wreck.

You decide you are going to move both cars off of the road, and try to tell your story from there. (BAD IDEA tampering with evidence)

You wait for the police officer to arrive and after you give your statements, he tells you to push your cars off the road. But you interrupt asking for legal reasons you wish to take photographs of the car wreck. The officer would be more than happy to comply with your request, by all means it is legal. So now not only do you have the cop's photos and judgement, you also have your own pictures showing dedication and coolness during the event. Proving that you are level headed enough to be heard in a complicated situation.

We have a new counselor now that will help Azrael to check up on roleplayers ingame.

In a nutshell, Role Playing is playing the Role of a (typically) made-up character. You should, at all times, fulfill the role of that character. It doesn't mean saying "hail thee!" everywhere you go, and it doesn't even mean you have to comment on smelly miners. It just means you have to portray your character like he or she would act, based on the story you wrote about him or her. If you are going to RP, you really have to think about how your character would act in any situaton, and do your best to act like that.

Most of what Ive seen makes little sense, RP-wise.

Everyone should have a character fit to support their RP. If a would-be vampire needs to run around town like he's the general joe or jane in order to suply himself, then maybe you should have spent some time developing your skills and accumulating gold in the first place.

Also, in addition to the RP control by counselors, why don't we have a RP voting system? That way people could express their feelings about RPer's RP. I have not really put any though on this, just throwing an idea to the mix.

Excuse me Jerek but have you not heard of the transfer? Our shit was transferred from IN:R therefore we were broke and already had our RP stuff. So it was impossible to develop and accumulate FIRST.

Except evry shard is it's own popularety contest. Some players are well liked others are hated by many. Either way, that does not have anything to do with how well they are at RP'ing a char. Merely how many friends and enemies they have

Need pots or stangs drop me a PM, i got it all.

Agreed. You think the Vampires are well liked because of their shroud? Jealousy.

Valas no one is knocking on you for your shrouds. You need to stop thinking every post about RP is directed at you.

Please, your not that important
