I understand your theory and I dont mind that you guys like doing you're thing. But distancing yourselves from the community, having a different city and different location makes the shard seperate into 2... Well I dont see why exactly that would be a problem, but I know one thing, that this isnt the right time for it. The shards going through it's most cruecial time right now, which is the first month of so of being live.
We need to be one, a unit. So we can be strong, not devide ourselves. Once the shards is steady and has developped PVP'ers, Guilds for PVP/RP, and all of that good stuff, than we should look into that and make changes from there. But at this point in time, I say if people are bugging you, you roleplay your way out of the situation.
Be like, Thou isn't worthy of my time, vanish... or however you do it in you're RP terms (yeah I know that was gay). But if you continue to show that it bothers you than you're giving reason for people to continue pissing you off, and the reason for that will be to see u get mad and laugh and joke around about it.
You need to make it so they dont get to you and eventually people will get tired of "trying to piss you off" and find something better to do and they'll leave you be....
For the time being I say we leave this as a suggestion... Maybe a month or so from this day, or whenever the servers steady and has it's guilds, clans, etc... than we can go on with this idea.

Did you just compare RPing to a drug addiction? Not sure if you have ever been addicted to drugs, but without them you 'physical withdraws' which include vomiting, fever, sweating, and a few other select symptoms. But on a more serious note; there is no way in hell you guys are getting a special place where ONLY Rpers are allowed, it is never going to happen.

I'm new to this particular shard but played on INR, several other free shards and had played UO for several years on Catskills. Catskills had a popular free town called Kinship (I think that's right). Was all player placed housing, was self-policed, and was a great time. Sure PKs came running around, but there were player hired guards and very good RP PvPers. There were jerks sure, but the best way to deal with them and facilitate a fun shard is to interact. Not hide.
Having a town created by GMs with specific access, in my opinion, is a poor idea. Like many have said, generally a bad idea to split up the population in any way. I say just let the shard take care of itself. If RPers want there own area, we'll, they'll go find some land somewhere and buy it. It'd be fun of after so many buildings were in an area it could be an "outpost" and that group could purchase roads, lamps, corpses, coffins, etc (or whatever deco).. but it shouldn't be restricted.
Just my thoughts.

I think some people are misunderstanding the point of an rp town. It isn't created so we all go hide away in the town. It is for rp events, player run quests/events, creating a city with bars and stores, and being able to take a break from typical actions of uo and relax when people wish to do so.
I still say such a place should be created by players, not staff, and if a few players decide to take this task apon themselves I will be happy to add to it. Though if a town is created I hope to see some assistance from a gm to add limitations and filters... maybe also add a council or government in some minimal way.
The town should not exclude anyone from entering just limit certain behavior and actions. It should not be guarded and pvp should be allowed in more "darker" parts of the city, depending on its size.
Okay theres my thoughts on this, again. Everyone go back to debating.

god damnit.. just do it like back in the days when people started to RP at Moonglow.. there was no rules or anything.. just that when people who actually rp'ed went there and others joined there. i remember bunch of times going there and seeing people rp'ing.... no need for more rules... just simple. you want rp town, announce it to others and people will come and won't take long when everyone in the shard knows where rp'ers are.
when do people realise players make the shard.. not GM made towns or rules.

Theres no way your getting a location only certain people can get into, it is that simple. If they did that I guarantee people would leave; it won't happen, you need to think of a way to carry this plan out without having it only RPers allowed.

well you wont ever get rid of the 'LOL pwnt j00 in leik 50 hits with me an my 30 mat3s i r0x0rz' type red headed stepchildren, but there could be a place mutually agreed where roleplaying would be the norm, and anyone violating that with their preteen hormones could be ignored by good, decent god-fearing law abiding citizens (eek falling into RP!!). But it would be pleasent, nah favourable for there to be a designated RP-ers languish where we could interract with each other in a mix of edwardian saga and dickensian newspaper clipping stylee. Maybe somewhere really boring and bland though...Yew?

I think it's a great idea!
True roleplayers could roleplay everywhere they want. But they knew that on that place they would be safe from the "leetness"
Casual roleplayers could go there when they feel like doing RP at that time (kinda like me.. I RPed too much in the past and i'm kinda tired.. but everytime I see some RP going on I tend to join, so I would like it personally too)
PvPers wouldn't care anyway.. They wouldnt have to take with the "formalities" and the life outside the cities would be the same
Why don't roleplayers declare some city as an "unnofficial" test while there isn't an official one. Spread the word and it could work
