Roleplay city
#1

Would it be possible to create a roleplay city? I've walked around on the shard and checked out a few things and I've already started to cringe. I always sigh when I see a person with a name like "kewl dood".

The one thing I miss about the old IN is the roleplaying. I liked how you had to write a story to join the shard and how in-game names were monitored.

I doubt this would ever happen but it would be neato if a small city were created on an artificial island or a moderately large island with a lot of clear space. I noticed in the casino that there is a VIP area and this is what I had in mind for the RP city. Players would have to be approved before they could enter the city or perhaps become a citizen of the city.

I'm just afraid that there will be a lack of good solid RP on IN:X. I miss dedicated roleplayers. This is probably the only aspect of the game that I truly enjoy anymore.

I guess this is just a pipe dream...

Maka actually proposed something like this a while back. Those of us who like rp all thought it was a good idea and i think it was to be looked at once the shard has been around a while. I think the main focus right now is getting everything balanced so i hope once thats done staff will have a more strict eye on player/guild names and actively encourage RP.

We will just have to wait a month or 2 and see what happens.

Why don't the RPers just go to a town, and announce to other RPers this town will be the main RP town; versus Brittain? Instead of giving RPers a town just because. I think giving you an entire town is moronic, why can't PVPers have their own town then?

I think this is a great idea. Also PVP'ers do have their own towns, SH and Occlo.

~Zorus, Tallmen, Garm, Syn, Senteil, etc IN1
~Seven Locks, Syn IN:R

~Admin Syn, Damien, Mary Jane - ONO
~Syn, some other random names - XUO
~Syn, Dodge Omni Turbo, Mary Jane - Navid1aUO

EVE Name: Slaquer ...sold my old account ;/

Agreed.
Don't see how anyone could think of Occlo as anything but a pvp town.

If that was the case then a bunch of people could come to said town just to be asshats and piss off the roleplayers. The roleplayers would have to constantly page in order to report these people. The whole point of a roleplay city would be so that the non-roleplayers would be kept out. If they want to enter the city then they'll have to become roleplayers.

As for a PvP city, think about what you just typed.

So, you want a separate server then? That'd "Solve" the problem and create a new problem with an RP only city.

It'll keep the trash talking away and at bay, but in all honesty, it's self-segregating and desiring somewhere else to play.

I'd personally like to have interaction with as much as possible. The more the merrier.

IN1 wasn't quite an rp enforced shard, and it is true tenfold for XUO (as I heard no rp existed over there). It is encouraged here as far as I know, and policing such town would surely take a lot of the GMs already limited time. There are more then enough places in the world to find one for roleplay.

No one is saying the GMs had to police the town. I was suggesting that the town could have the same sort of system used at the casino. I'm assuming players are issued access to the VIP area. I'm not exactly sure how this is done but I thought it would be neat if the same could be done for the roleplay city. I guess it's like the faction system.

Yes, it would be easy to assign a city as a roleplay city but as I said before you would still have some asshat who thinks it would be funny to cause trouble.

Perhaps the admins could let some trusted individuals create the city. They could create it on a test server and then have it approved. That way it would be less work on the developer's/GM's shoulder.

I do not want to split the shard up but I also do not want to be around extremely immature people in game who think it's funny to condemn someone for roleplaying. I'm also sick and tired of the "leet speak".

I just got done playing "Magic" for four hours. I think I'll quit rambling and get some sleep.

Actually, if I remember it right, most role players said no to the idea cause they didn't want to be separated from the "world". I think some even felt like we were trying to "put them away in a box". But obviously, if that has changed, I'm still for the idea. We could make a wonderful RP environment with the OOC filters and a few more tweaks, we could also use another map for it as some of the towns there look really great.

If you guys want this, I'll make it a priority to fix the thing around it so that it becomes a possibility and a joy.

I am a roleplayer, and i dont like the idea of a Roleplaying town, it makes no sense, i should be able to do whatever i want to wherever i want to. I really dont care about those l33t kids anyway, they are normally very stupid and can be easily overpowered by mental games, without going to their level.

I personally think its fun to be called " a geek crafter " right before eating their heart from the floor.

I do not want a roleplaying city. it will be deserted anyway. that concept never worked.

In my experience roleplaying. It does get tough when you have an idiot coming up to you calling you a *****, ****er, mother ****er, noob, wanker, suck me off, etc.

I almost want to go out of character and slaughter them, but then I lose my items my llama, etc. Knowing that there is no chance in hell to fight the situation, I either leave the area until later, Or I have them follow me into an area to tough for them.
