I kind of like Hiro's idea of offering a few different skills packages everyone can choose from.
The thing with attracting new players is they want to actually PLAY they don't want to sit there and macro for 9-10 days... I find it hard to believe some people are saying 'it only takes 9 days'. That's a long time to spend on a game that you don't play. Hell I bet new players don't even want to macro for 3 days. Imagine you buy Diablo 3 and you're told by the way, you can't leave the starting area for 9 days... That's basically what is happening here.
Think about it; you join a new shard and what do you do? You set up a freaking macro and walk away from the computer. Yea that's really fun :/...
I don't think the solution is to give all the pvp skills because all the pvp skills are also the basic hunting skills. Sure you don't have provo and such but you're on a good start.
Anyways, I hope this is seriously being considered because it's very attractive to a new player to see a small skill package. Right away they think 'hey cool I get a few skills when I start'. We have to remember that these people did spend time macroing on their shard, whether it was 10x easier or 10x harder they still macroed and don't want to go through it all again. Of course they can't expect to get all their skills back but a few is definitely an attraction!
