The 1vs1 tournament arena is causing lag somehow (!)
#7

Shade Wrote:Bah, I despise using areas that aren't regularly accessible to players.

Before we do anything like take away my field of grass that I roll around in, let me suggest a few things that might help.

As Eru said, the battle filter may help a bit. Also, disabling circle of transparency will help as well. Another suggestion is to turn off having the client cache houses, in the same tab where circle of transparency is at the bottom. You might also want to try toggling the "Run mouse in a separate thread" option, don't ask me why but a few other players had lag issue with this option. Disable the new targeting system. Don't use frame skipping or 565 color mode. Also have a resync button set for whatever program you use to connect and try using it whenever you are lagging.

Maybe some of this might help hopefully.

Ok, I don't think disabling circle of transparency will help in this case because there was nothing that had to be seen through with transparency where I was duelling, but I will try that anyway, no harm in trying right?

I turned my house caching thing down to 0 just to see what happens, interesting suggestion, never gotten that before from anybody. Will try it.

Frame skipping and 565 color modes were turned off.

I resynced several times during the duel, didn't help. One thing I did notice during the fights was that I had to resync a lot or my character would not be able to run in all directions, because my client thought I was at a different square than I was at. Don't know if there's a fix for that but please look into it if u have a second to spare.

Do you mean turning the hardware mouse off? In that case that's a VERY weird thing if it fixes the lag, but it's not a fix "worth it", because when running software mouse in UO the mouse is VERY choppy and its almost unplayable, at least last time I tried.

I will try another 1v1 tourney when one comes up, with these edited settings, and the BF, just to see, I'll report back to you here once I've tried it, just to let you know if any of that actually helped.
