server has been understaffed since the day it came up. what i dont understand is why it still remains understaffed. im sure almost any player you ask would be more then happy to staff. look for players who are always online and give them a chance, stop hiring gms who have a life and come on once a week.

99% of the questions asked in pages are answered either on the website or on the forums. Its just a mater of searching for the answer. If its not there make a post and again 95% of the time a player will be able to answer the question for you within a few minutes.

One of things driving people away are our current players and their attitudes towards others. Most of you have no thought towards new players when it comes to PK'ing them and most of you arent even willing to help them with cheap items or advice. 500gp of items to a noob says big things about you and also the comunity we have here. It also gives them a good footing on getting started.

If you want to keep players help them, dont kill them and loot them.

In regards to events, again with alot of the player base its a materialistic thing, you want big rewards from events... if were going to host one the main reward from it should be the enjoyment not the gift\prize you get after. Not to mention people deliberately trying to scam us for a 2nd prize or more. Doesnt really encourage us to make events. It is fun for us to host events, but it ruins it when people do things like this.

People are lazy and stupid. But it still means we should help them instead of saying "you're an idiot, look it up on the forums", or else they leave.

Omg, is this your first shard? Does that really get to you? In that case, with all due respect, you should not be a GM on here. Players have always been this way, it's nothing new nor unique to this shard.


You are actually saying 95% of the pages are useless, and that you don't like hosting. That's exactly what we want more of. Please sir give your GM account to someone who would spend more (any) time on it.


Ps. The two staff members that I've seen the most are Promoe and Raigan, isn't it ironic they are the only Counselors? I say promote them.

There are so many problems with the way you are thinking... First of all every player made staff is one less player playing so you can't have an infinite amount of staff. Second of all you don't know if someone can be trustworthy or if someone will abuse their powers so you have to be careful with your selections. Third, someone might say 'I have 3 free hours a day' but two months from now when they have exams (usually the same time as everybody else, regardless of the country they live in), they will have 0 free hours and everyone will b*tch that that staff is useless but all the time before exams he was doing a great job. As for your attitude of "stop hiring gms who have a life and come on once a week".... there isn't a single person who doesn't have a life outside of UO and if they do they NEED to turn off the computer, not give up their time to satisfy others!

Of course not, that's a risk whoever you hire. But Taran can see EVERYTHING though, so just hire some random guy a month on trial... If he does a good enough job and doesn't cheat then keep him. If he cheats, ban him. If he's not on enough, kick him and go to the next guy.
I even think 2 new staff members should be hired. No offence, but there are like 5 staff members that I haven't seen on ONCE in the 1+ month I've been playing here, and I'm on like 5 hrs a day lol...

Ofcourse you cant have 100% sure about who you hiring and eliminating the risk, but you can reduce it considerable by hiring an old player you know, who have a good background.

Of course. You got me wrong, I didn't mean hire someone at random... I meant hire one of the "old" guys at random. You don't need a superduper selection procedure... And as I also mentioned, any damage the corrupt staff does can be reversed easily by Taran.

Corrupt staff make shard look bad and make people leave. I dont think Taran can reverse it.

He can reverse, duped itens, gold, skills anything on game, but he cant change the bad image the shard gonna have so easily.

Lol how corrupt staff do you think he'll hire? Anyone he hires that turns out to be corrupt will probably try to do it discretely and will get caught by Taran long before anyone finds out.

Ye ye, never on the history of Ultima Online a corrupt GM did something that people dont got knowing before the Admin dissmis he.

Soon or later people find those things out.

I'm with Ryuuku on this one...

Yes, Taran and I think one or two others have access to the logs, but in order for them to see someone doing something wrong in them the people with acess to the logs have to go over them 1 line at a time and I very much doubt Taran reads the logs daily or just for fun.

Lets say the staff starts today, 3 months from now someone accuses him of doing something wrong, that's 3 months of logs someone has to look through to catch something the new staff did wrong, and possibly 3 months worth of corrections to make to what this person did. And what happens if in these 3 months this staff has given the shard a bad image? You can't really correct that as easily as flipping a switch.

There are 2 issues that I feel are most glaring.

1) I make pages and they're often not answer for 12-36 hours. Why not?

2) The shard keeps crashing. This is a HUGE issue. People don't want to spend 3 hrs hunting to make 30k to buy resources to macro, then set a macro to increase magery only to log on the next morning to find out the server took a died overnight and there was a time warp. We were averaging almost 100!! people on at a time... now... 45?

These need to be fixed asap.
