My computer is 1 month old and runs on an EVGA x58 classified motherboard, 6 gigs of DDR3 tripple channel ram, Gforce 1gig DDR3 Video Card, 1TB seagate HD, Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and this computer is only for gaming. The only websites I go to on this comp is INX and Yahoo. Also I only just started having this issue within the past few days.

Look, because YOUR CPU has 100% usage, does not mean ANYTHING with the servers hardware!
Lag is based on the internet, and your CPU operates all internally on your own computer! So stop saying its the servers hardware causing you to have high cpu usage atleast!

EDIT: I use 6-9% CPU usage when gaming on the server!

Lag spikes as in "worldsave-like-freezes every now and then" can be serversided, but what Lunda Krishna was speaking about was "almost unable to move due to massive amount of lag-spikes" and that is no the server because when the server lags everybody playing on the shard lags at the same time, and unless it happens very rarely it's not the server cause I haven't experienced any such lag and I ping the same as he does.

Reyn I said the maximum amount of clients at this point (however I said it 1 week ago) was 60. It was. It has been dropping a huge amount during the past week, and I dunno why that is, I suppose that it could have something to do with the fact that it's real hot outside and it's vacation times, but who knows.

Reyn you just chose the wrong starting skills, msg me at MSN I'll teach u which skills that are faster to GM and which ones that are slower, because if you do it good you should not have any problems getting a PK-ready character in no-time, not even a PvP-character takes that long, unless you "refuse to pvp" before u have alchemy and scribe, then it takes a long ass time, all crafting skills takes ages here at IN-X, but the rest is pretty fast.

CPU usage has nothing to do with the server hardware just like Andrew said. How long you two have been playing at IN-X has nothing to do with how much you know about this, it's all about computer knowledge, and he is doing this everyday at work so listen to what he's saying, because it makes sense that he knows more about this than you do, no matter how long you've been playing at IN-X.

well i've never had this problem before up until the shard went down and came back up before that i never had that problem nor on any other shard

Your computer is by far good enough to run UO, it is not the computer causing your lag if you haven't been on any websites to get spyware (or accepted any "bad files" from people), but I still don't think you have the same type of lag that Luda Krishna says he has. What type of lag do you have? Tell me when you lag and how much, because I doubt you lag so much that you "almost can't move", I think it's more about that u freeze every now and then for a few seconds, which is the normal "server hardware-issue" that we will solve with a new server computer in a hopefully near future.

[SIZE="4"]Let me tell you all a few basics about ping and other types of lag:[/SIZE]

Bad computer issue:
If you have a bad computer and experience that the computer loads a lot, people do a lot of things on the screen at once and you "spike forward" a lot, or anything similar to that, then you are most likely having a too bad computer to run UO smoothly.

Bad ping issue:
Your spells are slow, they do not show up as soon as you hit the spell button, it takes a while, it's called "delay" and it's caused by LAG because your ping towards the server and back is not good enough. This issue usually comes from that you live too far away from the server OR that your internet company just "routs it" (makes it bounce through a lot of servers) before it gets to the end location, and there for slowing the ping down.

It can also result in that other players sometimes "move around you" but you're unable to move, because you download packets from the server but can't upload packets to the server.

Server Hardware Issue:
If the server hardware is failing because it's just simply not good enough to run the UO server with all the clients on, then it can cause "the world to freeze" so to speak, when the server computer starts loading too much, and then the whole shard will freeze. This is what happens every now and then and this is the main thing we are trying to solve by replacing the server hardware computer as soon as we can. (Of course server hardware issues can also show in different ways, like for example "appearing as if u have lag even tho u don't have bad ping", just because the server hardware is too slow to run the UO server and upload the information to everybody in a good rate, but what usually is incommon when it comes to server hardware issues is that it happens to everybody the same way, and usually it is the way described above (worldsave-like-spikes) that happens when you have server hardware problems with an UO server, and since some people seem to be playing smoothly without "bad-ping-like-lag" I would assume that it isn't the server hardware causing that issue).

Spyware / Adware issue:
If your computer has spyware or addaware on it then it can be waaay slower than it is suppose to be. These programs try to access the internet and send information about what you are doing to servers, cause your computer to run very slow if you have too much of this installed at once. To solve this issue either get a free spyware removal program or download an antivirus program which usually also removes them. Having these programs on your computer can cause the same issue as if you have a bad computer, but your "computer hardware" may still be good.

I hope this lil guide has made you all understand a bit more about what type of lag you can have and what it could be a result off. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask, we will try to help you with your "lag issue" so that you can once again play without spikes, but don't automatically blame the server, because in most situations it is not the server causing your problems. That is very odd indeed, but it's still not server sided. I just logged on UO with client 4.0.5a and I have 8% CPU usage on the client. If it would be server sided (even tho it never is with CPU usage) it would effect me the same way that it effects you. Try to use another client and see if it disapears, or re-install UO.

My lag is explained like this, I take 2 steps freeze, I take 2 steps freeze, I take 2 steps freeze, I take 2 steps freeze, I take 2 steps freeze, I take 2 steps freeze and spells take forever to show up when I cast them. Again this just started days ago. I can't play at all now.

I only copied the part to focus on here. Clearly our ISPs use some of the same lines but what is interesting to me is the hop overseas. Now granted even with a connection hopping all over, the main issue is where its jumping to eurorings.net. Up until a week or two ago I was pinging 120 ms to the shard but my connection never went through that eurorings before. Unfortunately our ISPs can't do anything about hops outside of their control, typically the first 8 hops, and I think we are pretty screwed here. I'd be happy if someone could correct me if I am wrong though.

Also I thought I would just throw in that just because a line is named LosAngeles doesn't mean thats where it is located or where the information is travelling. Most of Papa and my hops take place in Minnesota, contrary to the names of the lines, before going to New York and then hopping to Netherlands.

Anyways, I know I can't tolerate the lag currently and am pretty much in the same boat as Papa here. Even if our ISPs redirected our pre-European hops, it would only shave off a few milliseconds. We should just nuke the netherlands so that we no longer have to deal with this crap.
