Not true. Perhaps you are watching ganks and mediocre pvpers going at it. I wont deny that magery plays a big role but melee plays a role just as big. There are even war tactics that can be applied using melee. The way you hit someone, the weapon u use, different methods of running away, etc. Healing (bandages) plays a huge role too. It can be used to precast spells such as lightning/xuo fs, it can be used to fool your opponent, making him think that u are hitting a bandage, causing him to cast fs or an offense spell, wasting his mana when u are actually casting a gh spell immediately after... You can even use many harm spells such as lightning/ low mana spells to put your opponent off.... That isnt even the end of it. There are MANY POSSIBILITIES/ VARIETIES. Give it a chance. Read the guide, experiment, attend pvp school... It is not an easy PvP to get good at and discover, only time and dedication will get you there.

Dotjr Wrote:Thanks, oh well, with Hate's post, it sort of squashes my idea. Hate, thanks for explaining it a bit better then what some other people have done. I still do not like the play style though (I have watched fights, I go to the tourney's to observe, I watch the brit/minoc fights) I still feel that PvP is 98-100% mage.
Aw dude, I am not trying to squash your ideas.. but I do believe that if you would try out the PvP for some time, and start getting good at the pvp, then you'd realize that adding fizzle-on-hit would mess up the pvp completely.
Think about it, if we would make it like that then we could just as well remove magery completely (or any spell that takes more than 1 second to cast anyways). People will be fighting each other with krysses and just hit, hit, hit, hit, hit, and fizzle anything you try to cast that takes more than 1 second (unless you're lucky). Most of the time you will both have to use bandages to heal because you are being damaged by the kryss, but you can not use the greater heal spell, it will just fizzle by the kryss and u will die. So you'll either be using normal small heal (gives u just a few hp), or use bandages to aid up. Then u'll be hitting again, trying to get a good hit and causing the other guy to bandage heal, then flamestrike him. His bandage will probably save him, and if not then he'll use an greater heal potion to survive. Or just drinking a gheal pot to get above 46 hp and then hit u with a dagger to interupt your cast.. =/
Fizzle pvp is real nice to have in the OSI-playstyle, but it would not be good to add to our PvP without modifing so much else, and it would ruin "what we have now" completely, not add "an good thing" to the shard, sorry =/
Keep up the suggestions tho, it's not easy to know what may or may not work before u have played the PvP for a while, so it's understandable why you figured that might be a good idea. But I'm afraid not =/

Hate

I dont think it would be possible to make it so u fizzle ur spell when you get hit...if you do that fast weps would make it impossible to cast..so we could no longer box people cause then it turns into just melee and we would really need the box because duels would be slowed down quite a bit. also if we changed that we would have to implement a way of getting away from those fast hitting weps making walls necessary to pvp..a little change can make a big difference in In-x's pvp

Well, i didn't read anything from this thread because its way too long but ill post why we have Xuo pvp, first off it was agreed when we merged that it was going to be Xuo's Pvp. Second since it was decided that it was going to be Xuo's Pvp i dont really think you guys have the authority to change it or to post to change it.
why?
because you don't see us saying anything to change the skill gain. its much harder for us xuoers now then it was before im still gming inscritpion. another thing we haven't said anything about the r/r skin colors or the r/r newbied rp weapons. Another thing is this is the IN world and we have no craft skills and we need to hunt to get money to gm our nessacary skills to get resources we don't know where anything is. We didn't even know what a guardian of destard was before this shard, and we are still waiting for extreme monsters to be put in. We also did not complain about skill transfers how you guys got all your crafts and we only got our pvp skills.
I guess all im saying is you cannot change the pvp because that is why were are all here and if you do then all the xuoers will leave, and if you do that then this is another remake of IN

Look dude I don't think this got through your head yet. This shard is nothing like IN was either, many people ahve said it 20x over. Guardian of Destard was never on IN1, we didn't know where "everything was" because it was mostly all new to us also. You don't have Xtreme monsters, well we don't have real Guardians. We don't have craftable weapons. We don't have IN or XUO we have INX so get over it.

Please, go back and read it. You may just have a lot of things cleared up and understood. It's best to have an informed opinion and try to analyze any information presented to you. Seriously though, go back and read the thread and formulate a new discussion if you find anything new.

I think Smoke made some good points tho.
First off he has not been playing Imagine Nation, so he can not possibly know what was there and what is "completely new". What he does know is that it was said that this shard would get the IN world and the XUO pvp. So since we have the XUO pvp he may be assuming that the world is from IN. I can understand why he would assume that.
Smoke was actually pretty much stating that he has "swallowed" all the IN-parts of this deal that he does not really like. For example slow skillgain, roleplayers, that IN players got a lot more skills than he did (and he lost a lot), and that he does not know where anything is in the world. He swallowed these things and decided upon that "I guess I have to get used to this since this is INX", so he HAS gotten over it and he knows that we have INX now. I would say the people who is complaining about the XUO part of the deal are the ones who you should tell that to, not him, at least not this time.
Smoke may be an ass to most of you, acting lame and childish, I don't blame you for disliking him, but this time he actually made an serious post with some good arguments in it, so that's why I'm defending his post.

Yeah he should read the post (because he didn't read it at all). But like I said above, he made some good points tho. I have not seen ANY former XUO player complain much about those things he mentioned, even though I do believe those are all things that could get people upset, just like the "new pvp" apparantly has got former IN players upset =/

This situation pretty much looks like this :
3 english and 3 french people, who've never met before, create a NEW country together. These 6 people decided on all the laws/etc's that are going to be in this country, then finally they create it. After creating it, the 3 english people don't like the french LAWs, which everyone agreed to, so instead of trying to adapt to it, there complaining until it's changed, yet the contract will NEVER be changed, so then in the end, the english men leave and the country is lost.
Now, is that logical?
No.
XUO PvP, is the greatest thing I've ever had the chance to enjoy.
I remember, haha, my first days on the FIRST ever created XUO.. I'd be running in occlo, collecting Silver armor parts [they sucked] and I would like scream of joy..Anyhow..
The XUO PvP : what is it?
As Hate explained, the XUO PvP is a mixture of logic and luck.
It is a great balance between both, and it is one of our [XUO players] object of pride.
This PvP, unlike most of the OSI PvP, is not routine based.
That is what makes it so great.
There is a not a certain order to do things.
I've played over 10 shards, including all 3-4 XUO's and many others.
And on the other shards, there was a routine, and whomever was faster won basically. WHOEVER COULD MASH THE FASTEST WON THE DUEL.
Where is the fun in that? I'll explain why : First people would cast poison, which did approx 3hp dmg per second.
Whomever's poison hit, WON the duel, because whoever's poison HIT, made the other guys poison fizzle, THEN the only way to get rid of the poison [u couldn't cast spells, the poison fizzled them] was to use a bandage. Meanwhile, the other dude casts Energy Bolt[1.7 second cast] and the other one uses a bandage [2 seconds] and AFTER the energy bolt, the person would re-cast poison, and then energy bolt, then poison.
Where the bloody hell is the fun in that? Please tell me?
Okay people could melee, yep.. BUT THE TOP PvPers we're ALL MAGES. So even if you could kill people, you'd never be the best, because you'd never be able to beat that magery routine.
Unlike that XUO PvP is diverse, even a nub can beat a pro, it doesn't depend on the ammount of skills you have.
Most people who play on IN:X don't have time, and that's why this PvP is GREAT for them, they don't have to macro much except magery/eval int and healing that is if he is already at [60+ swords/tactics]
I am one of the most experienced PvPers on this server, even though I still haven't gotten back to my old rythm [curse you mining/smithing! :p] and if ANYONE would duel me without swords/tactics, this is what I would do :
By calculating logically, someone has 100 mana in TOTAL with 100 int [which is stat cap] now, a GHeal costs 11 mana, and would a regen rate of 1 mana per 2 seconds [if GM meditation] it would take him 22 seconds to regenerate for a full GHEAL. So, I would chase him with my weapon [a short spear/battle axe, depending on the armor the guy is wearing].
After he has healed approx 9 times, 3 minutes of dueling, i'd switch to a War hammer, chase him for another 2 minutes, to make him GHeal scroll/potion to make him waste as much mana as possible. Once I give a decent hit and I see that he doesn't GHEAL scroll /faster then regular Gheal, i switch to my Battle axe/War Fork [shortspear not enough dmg] hit him 2 times, and full FS dump him.
Now that is my strategy, other people play other ways, and that strategy would be when I'm versus someone who's PERFECT timing, and knows how to play. Versus people who suck, the duel would last 30 seconds, cause i'd use warhammer right away or hammer pick.
Just for the information, I am a very good PvP teacher, and i'm willing to help out people whom I feel I should even waste my time and teach. I have taught to some of the best PvPers and they are on the top right now, even though before, they'd ALWAYS die, get ganked, and now, they 1v2 people.
Also, if some of you want to learn how to escape 1v2 situations, PM me, if I see you deserve it, I'll gladly meet up with you in-game and teach you how to EASILY escape them. EASILY I mean, if you see 2 people, you'll be like wow, okay, now I have to do "this" and that's all. NEVER ever will you fear death :o. I am EASILY able to escape 1v4 situations, and i've done it many times before, including when Hate/Nox tried to gank me on XUO.
That is probably the 2nd funnest thing on XUO, running away, cause not only, do you get an adrenaline rush, cause you have like 50k loot on you, but in the end, when you escape, your like HOLY SHIT, I just escaped a 1v5 I OWN! lol.
Good luck to INer's I personally would love you guys to stay and adapt.
70 man tournaments are so fun!

And the only reason people even use the bardiche is for this reason :
Some guy named Smeagol was very very famous on the first ever created XUO.
He R/Red 3-4 bardiches, thus, everyone wanting to be like him, copied and used it.
I personally prefer the warhammer, my favorite weapon, I run away run for 2-3 seconds, then chase the guy.

Hahahahaha Smeagol used a Halberd? He had 4 R/R Bards, I even remember the colors, Bilbo, as well, used a Bardiche, the matching blue one with his "Burger King's Legacy" armor, SombraX, please, I'll duel you, and beat you without breaking a sweat.
<3
I'll duel you for tickets, just tell me your name in-game and we'll set up a duel right now :o

IN world? What does that mean exactly. Just the decoration? All other game mechanics except PvP? Can someone give definition for this vague statement? When exactly was it decided IN players wanted their "world" in this merge and how?
About the skill transfers. Skillgain was really alot harder on IN:R (that's where IN players got transfers from) than it's here (let alone on XUO from what I have been reading). What's all this talk about "having to swallow all IN parts" and transfers being included there? Isn't it only fair IN people get more skills transfered if skillgain was alot harder there?
If there has been a topic about any of these things already with answers, then I'm sorry I missed it, just a link will do. Cheers.
