I personally love seeing people being able to do their own thing and have their own style in game. A few new armors would help that.

what about Dragon Scale armour (it was deamon steel color studded leather armour) or Elven Leather armour (green leather armour)
both of these armours had pretty good AR and you had to hunt stuff to make these.
