OK, so people seem to be wanting events, so I'm looking for people willing to host events.

The position is basically a counselor position, only we give you a bunch of switches for controlling the various events. (I'm still in the process of building these switches.)

The sole purpose would be to host events and answer pages if you feel like it.

The good:
You can host events and help give players something to do.
If you do really good, people will probably like you.

The not so good:
These are pretty much event-hosting positions only and we aren't planning on recruiting many more GMs at the moment unless you're simply amazing.
People will say lots of bad things about you on the forums eventually.
We're going to try to keep an active group of people hosting, so we may cycle out inactives for new actives.

PM me information about why you're interested and we'll do stuff like look into your history or whisper to ourselves about you before making a decision.

I guess I should add a form or something to fill out.

In-Game Name:
Experience with UO in general:
Experience with staffing on UO shards:
How long have you played on Imagine Nation:
Why do you play on Imagine Nation:
When are you able to play:
What languages do you speak:
Any ideas or thoughts about the position:
Which pony is best pony?

Feel free to fill out all of those, some of them, or add new ones. I dunno man, I'm not a questionnaire writer.

Good luck.

(No ETA on hiring dates yet. I still need to streamline events to work with switches and stuff)

The moment is finally here. The PvP testing area is now ready. The testing area is set up in Luna, it is supplied with event gear and is open to everybody. There are a number of rules and points to bear in mind, these are written in the pink book next to the entrance, please read the book before you start playing around, it will help you avoid problems and/or jail

All feedback is appreciated, I also expect any bugs that are discovered to be reported. Please keep all such replies in this thread, except for bug reports which you may PM to me. Do not PM me general feedback, I don't want to get 100 PMs, it will make my head hurt. Please bear in mind there is a known bug with the mana intakes of some of the spells, this is due to the fact that these PvP rules are being forced by a region and are not applied globally, so please do not report bugs with spell mana intakes. Anything else is much appreciated though.

Bear in mind I respond best to feedback which is logical, well reasons and impartial. I do not respond well to feedback which is whining, self-interested or illogical/unjustified. I also not respond well to hysteria, overstatement or scaremongering. So, if you want your feedback to be taken seriously, bear these things in mind!

Now a list of the changes being tested for you to scrutinise and experiment with in the test area:

Code:

- Poison can now only be applied to/from 1H bladed weapons. The 1H bladed weapons on the supplier come pre-poisoned with 50 charges.

- Poison now mitigates healing done by Heal and Greater Heal somewhat.

- Greater Heal and Heal both have a significantly higher base heal amount. Furthermore, Greater Heal scrolls intake slightly less mana. Heal scrolls now takes the full cast time and 4 mana so are no better than the book spell.

- Lightning spell from book now casts the same as a scroll.

- Harm spell (both from book and scroll) casts in similar fashion to the old book-spell version of Lightning.

- Mind Blast (both book and scroll) do a lot more damage, cast slower, intakes more mana and also does additional damage and mana drain vs. certain stats (but this is a small factor).

- Mana regeneration now works passively.

- Mana potions only give about 75% of their previous values, but the potion delays are the same.

- Potion delays are lowered for Cure, Refresh and Heal potions.

- Flame Strike does more damage, including bonus on low AR. The scrolls also do the same but the mana intake has been increased.

- Mana Drain now works in PvP, it can only be applied once per 12s and trying to apply it more will do nothing and waste your mana. After 12s the effect dissipates and must be reapplied.

- Explosion now has a much higher base damage but damage decays more rapidly with increasing AR.

- Fireball now does significant additional damage on low AR. The scroll matches the spell in all respects. You will be able to test this by removing armour in the test area if you wish.

- High dexterity now improves the success chance, minimum heal and maximum heal of bandages.

- High dexterity (above 100) now increases weapon swing rate.

Other changes which were applied at the last patch and are in fact global already (but which I'm mentioning to avoid confusion):

Code:

- Fixed and reduced the duration of Wall of Stone and Paralyze.

- Fixed and reduced stamina drain on macing weapons.

Things which are not on the live server but will probably be included in global changes if these changes are accepted:

Code:

- Increased damage (particularly minimum damage rather than maximum) for Axe and Spear weapons.

- Reduced material requirements for Mana potions.

- Recall scrolls will cast a little slower.

- Some high power 1H bladed custom weapons will also not be poisonable.

- Changes to some PvM (summoning) spells or scrolls to account for the mana regeneration rates.

Things which are on my radar but will not be fixed in this patch:

Code:

- Archery changes.

- Weapon hits/hit limiters and other things of that nature.

Additional information can be found in the old thread: http://in-uo.net/forums/showthread.php?8...vP-testing

However, if information in each thread is contradictory then this thread is the one with the more up-to-date information.

So, in closing. The testing area is ready and will be opened shortly, it can be accessed by a pink moongate inside the Casino. If you cannot find it it means the gate is closed for now, it will be on the highest level near the models. I have not decided how long I will leave the gate open, I would like to get as much testing as possible done during this week though, preferably without sabotaging the rest of the server PvP and so on though. However, I should hope most PvPers would be interested in seeing what may be coming. Also, for those who are less inclined to PvP, take the chance to get some free practice and see what you think.

Cheers,

It's time for you to show what you got!

I will be hosting a Fashion Show this week. The date and time will be posted later on after everything that needs setting up is set up. Here is the run down of the event:

Three Judges have been selected from the playerbase:
*Ayleth Payne will be our feminine opinion and has a keen eye for fashion.
*John Falstaff because he has such keen fashion sense.
*Skuntig because we need some comic relief, but he has a keen eye too (for a Goblin, that is).

There will be Two main events and lots of prizes!

Event One: Individual Models

-This is the big event.
-Anyone can join and the judging is strictly based off of your own personal look and style.
-Each model will be asked to walk down the run way and "work it" for about 1-2 minutes.
-During this time frame, each judge will write down a number in a book for the following categories:

Style: Does everything match or atleast work with the rest of the outfit? Is there enough color for that extra "pop"? 1-10 points.
Originality: Everyone at the show is wearing sashes but you decided to wear a tunic! Very original! 1-10 points
Taste: Im sorry but reactive and rose just dont look good with that daemonsteel bonnet. Be tasteful! 1-5 points

-I will then document the judge's opinions and we will move on to the next model.
-Once all the models are done walking the run way, we will evaluate the judges points and determine the grand prize winner of this event!
-Here are the areas we will give rewards out for that we will be handing out for this event (not the actual rewards, but who gets them. The rewards are a surprise):

*Best Dressed* (The one who gets the most points)
*Worst Dressed* (The one who gets the least points)
*Best Use of a Tamable* (The one who uses a tamable pet/mount the most effectively for their look)
*Best Self-Made Look* (Highest point scoring model who made all of their own items with maker marks)
*Congeniality* (The one everyone loved but didnt quite make it to the top)

Event Two: Group Outfits

-This secondary event could end up being huge, but im not sure.
-Models present themselves in groups of 2-3 people (no more than this) and are judged based on how well their looks go together.
-Each group will gain points for the following categories:

Style: Do the groups look good?
1-10 points.
Originality: Do they look unique?
1-10 points.
Unity: Does everyone look like they belong together?
1-5 points.

-I will document the results and as the earlier event, every group will have its turn.
-Once everyone is done we will determine the grand prize winning group! Here are the categories for the group event:

*Best Dressed* (The group whom got the most points)
*Worst Dressed* (The group whom got the least points)
*Best Use of Tamables* (The group that uses tamable pets/mounts the most effectively for their look)
*Best Self-Made Look* (Highest point scoring to a team who made all of their own items with maker marks)
*Congeniality* (The team everyone loved but didnt quite make it to the top)

Here are the rules for the event:

Absolutely no PvP or Stealing or Griefing. It will be a safe zone regardless, but you have been warned.

Absolutely no harassment or complaining. This should be a fun and positive experience.

All outfits can use anything that is available in the world. This includes donation items and RP items, though I will instruct the judges to look at them objectively and not give them special weight.

All tamables are allowed to accent outfits. They arnt necessary but they would probably help a great deal.

RP is very much encouraged during this event, and very much expected from players who have RP items or are members of an RP guild.

Everyone should have fun and not take it too seriously! If this goes well, I will think of more fun events like this in future.

So let your creative juices flow! Show these judges your sense of style! Have a blast and I will keep you guys posted on the date and time of this event! Post ideas if you so wish as well!

I am currently running a PvP test server tweaking the PvP system and trying out some new changes. A number of players and staff members are already acting as play testers on this server. Exact details of the changes will be made available in due course. Currently I am aiming to have a complete "PvP patch" ready for this Sunday. However, the changes will not go global on the live server - instead we will be applying the changes in the form of a region (like with fizzle PvP). When this happens all players will be welcome to try the changes and give feedback. If the changes meet with general approval from the playerbase then they will eventually go global on the main server (this does not preclude further changes and tweaks in the future either). I hope this happens, I'm working hard on making a system which has the same style as 51a but with significant improvements, runUO lets us do a lot that sphere would not. I hope to make a system where you can fight and play exactly as you do now, but with more pace and fun and with new tools and new styles that can be used if you wish - I have no intention of making the existing fighting styles which people enjoy unviable though.

Bear in mind that I cannot please everybody, since different groups of players want literally the opposite things. However, I aim to increase the pace of PvP, the viability of world PvP and give people need to wear things like armour so that PvP includes better loot. I also want to increase the complexity of the PvP a little bit to make it more interesting and more rewarding for skilled players. The changes will be based around world PvP, future changes to adjust for arenas and dueling pits can be made by region control.

A very, very brief summary of some of the general thrust of the changes are as follows:

More different kinds of penalties for wearing extremely low AR in PvP, offset by some additional benefits to high AR.

Increase mana regeneration offset by a nerf in the mana from pots (they will still be important though).

A lot of tweaking in spells such that a greater number of spells serve a useful and unique purpose which, if fully exploited by a talented player, can be used to give a PvPer some (fair) advantages. Also in general pace is increased by making spells inflict greater damage and heal greater amounts.

High Dex will now serve a number of useful purposes, hopefully tweaked such that various stat combinations are viable for PvP.

The need for massive amounts of scrolls in PvP will be reduced.

In total there are many changes and I do not wish to list or debate them in this thread, if anyone wishes to comment, argue or suggest please keep it on the suggestion forum or wait until Sunday when the full list of changes post-testing are released, this is a news thread not a flame war candidate.

Anyone who is interested in taking part in the test server testing phase (before Sunday) may register their interest here. If more testers are required you may get invited (in game) by me to take part. If you are not invited to take part do not take it as a slight, everybody will have equal access to testing the changes and giving feedback once a region is set up on the live server next week.

I ask testers to keep an eye on this thread so that I can use it to keep them informed of when I am around/other testers are around for testing and when I have done a test server reboot to implement changes and things like that.

I think that's it for now, I will add more information later.

Congratulations, everyone! We've now been open for 1 year. To celebrate, I thought I'd post some of the upcoming changes we're working on. Most of these are already implemented and just needs a server restart.

Tweak to Fizzle PVP: You can now fizzle players spells with the speech command "YOU SHALL NOT CAST"

Grandmaster Animal Tamers can now tame humanoids and other players with less than 70 INT.

Added new animation for riding on humanoids' shoulders.

Added Methamphetamine to the Alchemy skill. Increases STR and DEX by half of your INT, reduced INT to 0.

You can now polymorph into chairs; players who sit on you may break the effect

Added throwable boomerang shields: Double-click shield and target a location. The shield will fly to that location, then back, doing damage to anything in its path in both directions.

Added NPC thieves to the britain bank. They appear randomly and steal one item from your pack, or if you bank box if it's open. This is added to a treasure horde in the Thieve's Den. (see next note)

Thieve's Den area added. You'll need to know the password to get in, which changes daily and can only be discovered from killing thieves outside. Defeating the boss gets you the treasure horde.

Added a spelling and grammar check to the profanity filter. If you use improper grammar or spelling, it will block you with the following message:

Please use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Your message contained "your" instead of "you're" before a verb. <--example

Guards in all cities will now have a 1 minute delay during night time. Since guards need sleep too, there are less guards at night and it will take time for them to come to you.

The server will be restarted this Sunday at around 6pm server time GMT+1 (noon EST).
Here are some of the changes:

Supremely accurate weapons now give +15 tactics instead of +25. Changed the hit chance factor as well so the chance to hit with a +15 weapon is the same as a +25 weapon was before. This means that all other accuracy levels will hit slightly more often.

The auto tour system will now remove armor piece by piece instead of spawning a referee. If noone has been killed after all armor is gone the referee will still spawn though (to prevent trolling).

When killing murderers or criminals you will now always gain karma and when killing blue players you will always loose karma. You still only gain/loose karma if you attack first and if it's not a faction kill.

Added a new mustang scripts. Many spawns will get new mounts and/or hues and all new mustangs will be stronger.

Added a new point system to deathmatch, the more points someone has the more points you will get when killing him. Also, when you die in a deathmatch you will now have to type .dmres to res. If you don't do that within 60 secs you get kicked from the game.

Changed the damage values on most weapons so the hits aren't as random, the average damage is still the same.

A complete changelog will be posted here as usual once the server is restarted.

Change to Housing and Statics Policy

First off, I'm ecstatic to see the larger number of players we have now! I never expected this much growth when we started tinkering around with the shard for fun a year ago.

However, with this huge increase, we're seeing a lot more requests for custom statics or custom decoration in existing statics. Up until now, this has been fine as the requests were few enough that we could handle them, but there's no way to keep building custom statics at the rate they're being requested.

What we will be doing instead is offering a selection of pre-made custom statics instead. We have a lot of them to choose from and I'll be posting images of them on the Housing page as soon as I've got all the screenshots made and edited.

There is still the option of building your own static, then having us place it. In fact, we're hoping to add this as an optional profession for very talented builders. People who know their way around UOAR can offer their services as an architect either for free or for in-game compensation. You could either build custom statics to order, or build a bunch of statics and offer the use of the design for a fee.
(For example, you might charge 100K for a custom design, but only 10K to use a public design that anyone can choose from. Change the prices to match your business model.)

A second change is that we no longer add decoration or items outside what is listed under Addons on the housing information page: http://in-uo.net/info/housing-information

The reason is that this just takes up a ton of time to add, color, position, etc. Then, when a player decides that they want to move to a new static or house, GM intervention is required to move sometimes hundreds of items, which just sucks up hours of time that could be spent scripting or adding quests. If you build your own static though, you can add as much decorations as you want.

We won't be retroactively removing decorations, but we won't be moving them or modifying them, we can just remove things you no longer need.

Also, if you simply can't live without a specific item like a display counter or a bloody pentagram, let us know and we can either add it to crafting or as a nickel reward, depending on the item.

Hopefully everyone understands the need for this change. With less time being spent on menial stuff like house design, we can spend time developing features, quests, events, and improving.

Thanks everyone!

*EDIT*

Since we hit 100 players I'm going to extend the skillgain bonus for the whole next week as promised!

If you have a UO or gaming related site, it is a big help if you link to us since that increases visitors from other places, plus it helps with our Search Engine rankings.
Here's a guide with code for HTML pages and for forums: http://in-uo.net/donate#link-to-us
A few notes: Don't link to us from a place where it wouldn't be welcome (i.e: another shard's forums). Just places that are tasteful and relevant.

Since Shade registered in-uo.com and we don't have access to that it's going to expire January 25th.

That means that in-uo.com and game.in-uo.com will stop working and we ask that everyone start using in-uo.net and game.in-uo.net instead (which we have been using for a while now). We are going to register in-uo.com again but it might take a while before we are allowed to do that.
Thank you!
