Just to let you know how much we have been working on the new server lately, here are some changes that have been made.

There is now a slight delay before vendors call guards. They also have to be in LOS to call guards (doesnt apply if players call guards). They won't hit you a million times anymore and if you are lucky you can run away for quite a bit when they come.

Basecreatures no longer have a hit delay meaning you can't get hurt 10 tiles away anymore.

Removed the old command .showarrivemessage (.sam)

Added a new command .DisplayLocation (.DL). When enabled you can use .ShowPlayers or .SP to get a list of the players with .DL enabled and their location/coordinates.

Added support for client 7

Various bugs fixed

Enabled SE and ML artwork. You can now choose from more items when creating custom houses.

Enabled the character transfer script again, this time without crashes. Everyone who played on the latest XUO version or IN:R will be able to import their chars by using the command .importcharacter

Added house decay if you have more than 2 houses (statics not included). Decay period is 30 days and to refresh you or a friend of the house simply have to open your doors or the house sign. Your first 2 houses never decays. Single click or double click the house sign to see if it decays and/or how new the house is.

As some of you may have noticed, there was a big event going on at Occlo a month ago. This event included a champion with very nice loot. For people who liked it we have very good news!

Every second sunday of the month there will be an event with a champion! These event can be different all the time. There is just one thing that is the same all time and that is that there is a champion.

For the people who don't know about the event, or the people who have already forgotten it. Here is a summary of what it is like:

Every second sunday of the month there will be a big event just after server reboot at 21:00 GMT +1 (server time), unless it has been announced to be at an other time. This event can be anywhere. It can be in an unguarded town (occlo etc), in a dungeon or just somewhere in the world. This means that pvp can be allowed or not allowed which depends on the location.

Every third month there will be a huge quest, which will probably start earlier than 21:00, which has two champions!

When a champion has been slain, a skull of that champion will appear at the altar in the pits.

Now for the people who are wondering. Why an altar with skulls?
When all champions have been slain (which are six), there will be another huge quest for which no details are given at this time. However, people who know some stuff about ultima online probably know what will be there. And yes, if you did the maths, this event will be there once every six months!

From now on, we are going to have weekly server reboots on Sundays at around 9pm server time (which is GMT +1).
I will do my best to restart at exactly 9pm, but cut me some slack if I'm half an hour off or so, hehe.
Keep in mind though that if we discover a serious bug exploit issue or experience server crashes we will have to reboot as soon as possible. But for minor bugfixes and new features we will reboot on Sundays.

I will also try to write a changelog every Sunday so you know what to expect after the restart. You can find that changelog in these forums and on the main page of the website.

A note: Since I just restarted the server today I'm not going to restart it at 9pm again.

Yesterday I added the Duelstone Ladder to the website, and today I added the PvP Ladder and Guild Ladder as well.

All duelstones are linked to the website, meaning if you challenge someone ingame it will instantly update the info on the website when you are done.
When staff create events they can choose to make it a Ladder event, meaning that the event will get shown on the website after it's over.
I'm not really sure how the guildladder works, maybe someone from XUO can explain that further.

I'm having an issue with the DuelStone Ladder though, at the moment the search function won't work. I'll try to fix it asap with Maka's help.

I hope you enjoy this update. It's the same ladders that Maka created for XUO, which means they are very advanced. I just converted them to RunUO 2.0 and fixed the templates.
Anyway, it's time for me to get some sleep now, it's 2am in the morning. I just wanted to fix this before I went to sleep, hehe.

If you have any questions post them here, we can make this a temporary FAQ for the ladders and after a while I can move the FAQ to the website. Also, if you encounter any bugs please let me know.

Yep, you read right, I just put the server online again!

Keep in mind though that we don't have any developers, so bugs can't be fixed and new features can't be scripted. From what I have seen though it looks like there are quite a few people that want to play anyway and just have some fun. Also, character transfers from XUO and INR are disabled.

I will not be as active as I once was, but I will still be around to "admin" the shard, checking my e-mail and so on.

I want to thank everyone who helped out while the shard was down, staff members as well as players. Some new spawns have been made and more decorations have been added to the world. That's also why you should download the mul-files from the website again since I froze the new items to the worldfile.
If you don't download the mul-files you won't be able to see the new decorations.
And a note to the decorators/spawners. I have blocked your staff accounts now, but if you still want to help out let me know.

I think that's it, now login and have fun

Well I thought I would take a min and update exactly what I have been doing on the shard..

At the moment I am testing the loot on a majority of the monsters and on all the boss's and custom creatures that were created. I have noticed so far several of the custom monsters were made harder to kill but drop the same loot as if it was the easier version of that monster. I have also spot checked ALOT of the monsters that are around the world and checked them to the loot tables on static uo and they all seem to be the same so I don't think I will be making any changes to them.

As far as the boss's go. alot of the loot will be altered.

Just so you have a idea. This is how I am testing to see where the loot should be at.

1. The boss is fought by one fighter with max skills using what ever means possible to kill it.(almost 100% of the time you can't kill it alone!!)
It is timed to see how long it takes to kill it and then the loot is copied down.

2. 2 people fight it and time how long it takes to kill and copy down loot.

3. If we are able to beat it with 2 people we repeat the process using diffrent methods (provok,EV's ect..)

4. We move on to 3 people fighting it and repeat the same as number 2 and 3.

With this a chart is slowly starting to appear and we can get a estimated time on how long it takes to fight the creature and how much resorces it takes from you and what there loot is now. With that we can make adjustments to what the loot should be.

For example: The saphire deamon at the bottom of covators was alot harder then a reguler deamon but he droped the same exact loot as a reguler deamon. behind him was a saphire dragon that took half the time to kill but droped double the loot as the deamon did. (so they will be adjusted as need be.)

Also I am working on some things to bring a better feel to the game and to give people more things to do and see in the world. Im not going to get into that at the moment but construction has started.

I would estimate at the rate I am going at the moment the loot that I am persoanaly working on should be all done and set by the end of next week.
after that I will concentrate on some other projects that need to get finished.

That is all I have for now but I will try to keep everyone updated on my progress a few times a week.

Thanks,

Thanks,

For what ever reason it still seams like people are asking for me and wondering when I'll come back. I haven't really said anything more about it, besides my statement [in Weapon Selection] that I wouldn't be logging on, so I figured I will let everyone know and "calm" people down.

My last post on these [public] forums were made in the "Weapon Selection" thread, so essentially, that was my drop.

I've worked for this server a long time, longer than anyone else, and I've put more time into it than anyone. Most of the time I actually worked with it, it was not a hobby and it was far from fun. I myself love programming, I do it in one form or another on an every day basis, but with the amount and "type" of work going into INX, it was far from fun. Essentially what drove me to finish the shard, and to work as much as I did, was to create a Sphere replica people [and I] would enjoy.

So the server opened and we had a really patient community. You understood that we were working as fast as we could, and that we tried to do our best to make your time well spent on INX. Cause really, being staff is about fun for 5 minuets, then after that, you are doing it for the community or the server. It also seemed that you were somewhat happy with our beta and you understood that we cared about it. This lasted for about 10 seconds.

Soon everyone started to be impatient. All crafts from IN were not implemented, we had not yet added any special events, loots were bad, skill gain was to slow, staff in some time zones were missing etc. Now, that by itself is not a problem, we (me and taran) did what we could to fix stuff as fast as we could. These are some of the problems that come with a server and we would be gullible fools to expect anything else.

People started to get hostile on the forums. The suggestions given were no longer suggestions, they became repetitive and angry whining. The players were trying to bully the staff team to the progress they wanted, even though we were working as fast as we could. Battles between IN and XUO were peaking, and most of the times, they were unnecessary and stupid. Peoples unwillingness to discuss things in a normal manner and give us useful input put a strain on the staff team and pretty much put us in a dead lock. Personally I did not want to work for a server that hated the PvP I loved so much and wanted to preserve. Why I'm not willing to accept any major PvP changes(I'm not talking bout EB, Arrow and Explo having armor scalars here)?

I started this project (Syn pitched me to KM). I, with the help from a few people, made it happen. I pretty much made sure everything was set up and I probably made 95% of the code. I made sure so that we agreed on things and discussed things through on the project forum before we started this. I made sure the server had an [damn good] admin when I knew I was not going to be present due to my move to a different country. I think I played a pretty big role and I felt so majorly screwed over, cause of the PvP issue. Nothing of this would have happen if we didn't agree on that specific issue, and I could not even get people to try to understand the PvP. The general opposition sounded something like "Why does it have to be set in stone, you guys never listen to our feedback", so I pretty much felt like I could do nothing to make people happy, and that was the goal of the server. But I still kept working, but now without actually reading the forums cause it pretty much killed me.

When my computer died I semi stopped working. I was working on some algos, helped taran when he asked me about script issues and drew up some ideas for fun things. After a while, I quit that too. I started feeling better and better with myself, didn't have this huge load of negativity hovering over me all the time, and I could focus on what I needed to do. I didn't send my computer off until last Thursday (31st?), due to my money situation, so I will probably get it back within 2 weeks or so. But...

I doubt that I will return to INX in the state it is now. The reason I left was essentially the community, not the work load. When you get negativity all the time you tend to get sick of it and find other things to do. It might be something to think about. Even though that the staff team is in charge, the players are the real "employer[s]". We do in fact work for you guys, so what do you think that the volunteer workers will do, when the boss is acting up?

As closure I would like to say that it makes me very disappointed to hear that I've "abandoned" the project. I've been "retired" (and it has been on the web page) since March last year, yet, from that point to the breakdown of my computer, I was one of the people that was doing most the work. I haven't abandoned anyone, I've quit with a 6+ months notice. You've abandoned me.

Anyways, that pretty much sums it up. There is a lot more to it, but nothing of real interest. Everyone are not all bad, a lot of people have helped the server out with their suggestions, ideas and attitude, and I thank you. Problem is just that the voice of the mob is not cheering and applauding, but yelling how unfairly they have been treated.

I would like to announce that we're now selling static housing. This is how it will work:

Static housing will cost roughly 3k per tile. This will vary a bit depending on location/quality of the building etc. Here is an example:

SIN's static house in Serpent's Hold on IN1.

16x24 tiles is the size. 16 x 24 = 384. There are 2 floors. 384 x 2 = 768.
Therefore there are 768 tiles. 768 x 3,000 = 2,304,000 gold. Thats about 2.3 million.

To go about purchasing a static contact Vulcan, preferrably by PMing him on the forums. Please do not ask him exactly how much a static will cost unless you are truly interested in the static and can afford it. As stated above you can find out roughly how much they will cost by calculating how many tiles it contains.

Additional points:

Statics inside guarded areas are only for sale if you plan to make it public.
Every other static in the world is potentially for sale (at the right price).

I will also include the following purchasable items. Page a GM for these items unless noted otherwise.

Guild door: 100k
Regular locked doors: 30k
Guildcontainer (container only usable by guildmembers): 50k
Teleporter to castle roof: 250k
Teleporter to keep roof: 150k
Teleporter to corner tower of castle/keep: 30k
Arbitrary teleporter within your house: 50k (we do not sell teleporters between buildings)
And on another note:
I have made several tweaks to loot along with other bugfixes and tweaks. I will restart the server on Sunday evening and all changes should take effect then.
