should houses be 100% safe?

Just today i realized that there is no way to kill someone inside of even the smallest house. You can't firewall, EQ, CL or summon on doors. Someone told me that summoning on doors was a sphere bug but i don't remember anyone ever getting in trouble or even saying anything about this. Summoning EVs on doors used to be standard practice....didn't it?

I was discussing this with someone earlier and they said "100% safety in houses is not the IN i remember" and i have to say that i completely agree. Housing seems almost pointless if there's nothing fun to do with it aside from collecting pixel crack.

Now i'm not saying that i intend to partake in house killing but i think that this is something that needs to be addressed/discussed. Being 100% safe in a cheap-o house seems overly carebearish to me. Large towers should be the beginning of the 100% safety zone and even then you should have to be aware of the game mechanics that can still get you dead.

Thoughts? Comments?

I think they were both LOS bugs honestly but I don't think houses should be 100% safe.

Well, you can kill players in certain houses. It also depends on where they stand in others. Cast EQ a few times to get their HP down and then cast a firefield to finish them off.
Using summoning spells on doors was actually a bug on Sphere, but it was a tolerated bug as so many others since it would have been impossible to enforce it all the time.

It will be interesting to see what others have to say about this though.

Just a suggestion .. I think houses should be 100% dangerous and we should be able to kill anyone inside and outside as long as their within LOS. I also think Houselooting and Guildhouse looting should be allowed. Thanks.

I think that we should routinely replace peoples houses with DEATH HOUSES that lock them in and then spawns traps and creepy little gollum things until it finishes them off, then cuts their corpse and a tribe of cannibals come in the window to fight over the body parts, then they make a fire out front and throw everything in a cauldron and invite their extended family over for brunch to discuss the finer points of head shrinking.

Then it goes back to a normal house.

Yes we know your opinion on this, you are not objective in the slightest on it and you've made it painfully clear of this many times.

Regardless, it comes down to if you want the old IN or a fascimile of it, I also remember an IN of EQ's/CL's and it did make for some danger, but really without the ability to houseloot or break open the locks it was just an annoyance if the person was afk so their bodies would decay.

I am fully unaware if house looting or lockpicking function as they should here but I think the point still stands, i'm all for killing houses though, i'm just trying to present a different point of view.

ive killed a handful of people with EQ =p and no housing shouldnt be totally safe. It should from things like summons though, ofc. I've been killed in my house twice and house looted on‌ce =p But that's because i didnt have certain things locked down or some chests locked, so it's my own fault. Chests can be lock-picked into anyway I think, so the only truly safe containers are guild containers and banks.

Well if you make them not safe, where do you macro ?
If houses are not safe to be in then they really have no purpose at all no actual use and become exactly what you said pixel crack.
If houses are not safe why would you go to it ? I guess if your bank is full but you could just turn everything into a deed and be 100% safe with out ever needing a house.

Why should you have such ease to kill someone when they are afk ? are you that bored ? <---- wow
Now it's different if your hiding and someone recalls in, opens there door you stealth in and proceed to kill them. Or you figure out where they recall in and wait with a few guys to jump them.

Looting ect
You can't really loot someone or a guild unless you are in that guild because of guild boxes. So if you loot a guild box by joining them and then when no one is on you clean the guild out, it's detrimental to the shard because no one wants to let anyone into a guild because they are scared that they are another player trying to rip them off.
There are also lockable boxes that exist but here again its just to deter you, <--- I guess this would be to hard for you because again have to sneak into the house wait patently then pick the chests. Imagine the stories if you pulled that off ? but people are lazy and have no creativity.


There are so many ways to make it interesting with out making it so you can afk EQ, Firewall someone. All your doing is prolonging there macroing causing them to either quit or have to focus more on macroing and less on hunting or pvping.
I don't get why your picking on houses, when you don't seem to be bothered by stuff like the casino which is 100% safe.
Those stones in the should be in every blue & red city so there are a bunch of different places to buy the stuff and in the big cities turn a vacant building into a casino and take away the safe zone.

*Everyone should be safe when afk macroing and or tourney / Monster bashes. (with the odd exception on monster bashes) It just sounds to me the only reason you want this is so you can kill some poor noob in his tiny 2*2 pixel crack house.

I believe it's to stop killing afk players in a house because if your not afk you just keep hitting your heal macro and live.

Why do you want to kill someone in a house?

You can't loot them.
They aren't there to see you to get mad at you.

The ONLY reason that exists for killing someone in their house is griefing. You want to kill them because you know they'll be mad about it at some point in the future, to make them lose their macro items, and to lose out on the time that they spent macroing as a ghost before coming back.

It simply has no place. We do support PVP, but not griefing.
