A proxy server works like this:
Your computer - > the proxy server - > the UO server.
The UO Server - > The proxy server - > Your computer.
So in other words, if the proxy server has good ping towards both you and the UO server, then you will still have an nice fast (not slowed down) gameplay experience. However if the proxy server has crap ping towards either you or the server, then it'll be sloooooow ;p
So lets say you have 20ms to the proxy server, and the proxy server has 50ms towards the UO server. Then your ping would be around 70ms (20ms+50ms) towards the UO server, pretty nice aye? So that's also an good way to fix your ping if it's too bad Vs Xs4all, but if u have an friend that u ping good to, one who pings good towards the server.
I may setup an proxy guide later so that the people whom can fix their ping (because they have an friend with good ping to both them and the server nearby) can have a chance of getting much better ping here at IN-X :]
