Hour by hour
#1

I am keeping track of mining from 40 just to see how long it really takes if you dont start with 60.
So far I have been mining 25 hours and 17 minutes. Current skill 40-61.6. And also of course this could vary in the short span. I'm sure of the slow down.

for mining need 120 hour

From 60 I heard. Im starting from 40

Math would say it takes 144 hours to go from 40-100 then.

Can i see your formula?
#7

Yeah, you reported about 24 hours to go from 40-60, and everyone else is saying 120 to go from 60-100...
#8

Yea prob right we'll see. im keeping exact times.

Who is everyone else thats saying this? I know the exact time it takes to GM mining, within a half an hour and from 0 its not 120 hours. However the calculation does not count for human error, bad macros, banking, smelting, etc. The thing with things like mining with EasyUO is that it can be very slow if not setup up perfectly. The typical mining macros don't track veins replenishing and tend to try and mine spots that aren't ready yet. I bring this up because I know nobody mines by hand anymore.
So I suppose, yeah it could take someone 140 hours or more if they aren't doing a very good job.

Keeping exact times sounds more difficult than GMing mining.. stopping the clock every second you aren't mining sounds like a lot of trouble.

Okay im seriously sorry. I didn't know that you knew all the times or I simply would have just asked you myself. I thought I would just do everyone a favor and give a general idea. Bad idea on my part I'm sorry please forgive my stupidity.

Heh I'm not calling you out or anything, if thats how it seems. I just don't want anyone to get the wrong impression if they read this post thinking they will have to spend months to gm a harvest skill. Originally from 0 it took 105 hours to gm mining, this of course is straight mining. During this weekend it was dropped down a bit and I am likely leaving it very close to how it is now, same with lumberjacking as that was a bit too difficult.

I just don't want skills like that to be easy because with more difficulty there is more dependency which is a great way to stabilize an economy from the very beginning. People will need to trade more to GM skill related to resource gathering, making people focus on gathering for a faster profit or crafts for a long term, larger profit.

This of course makes a rough start for many people but in the long run it will be worth it. Though there are already many vanqs floating around, two people can now craft plate, several people with enough alch and inscription to get pvp supplies going and so forth.

Keep going with the tracking though because I'm kindof curious to see how it plays out. Tongue

Also, I assume the 120 hours everyone keeps mentioning comes from the name on Paulie's pickaxe. I actually took a look at the mining script he was using and it was pretty inefficient. I tried to use it and it would get stuck going to places, sometimes stall out, move halfway across the cave for its next mining spot, just walk around in circles for a solid 30 seconds while it did who knows what... BUT it's a really solid script for what it does and you can pretty much AFK mine to GM without doing anything but take care of anit-macro gumps.

But, if you mine with a better macro (I ended up switching back to my Razor mining macro) then you can get much faster skillgains and pull in more materials.
