Imagine Nation shard is no more
#37

First of all let me say that I really appreciate all the effort that Taran put up running Imagine-Nation once again.

I am proud to say that I am an old veteran of the IN Community! I am proud to say that in a given time I have also give and gave up certain things for this game, being a grandmaster, seer, admin... on IN servers alongside with Krystal Myth a.k.a. Coldrake, Arya, Carding, Aed, Raven, and several others and also working with Wiz, Carding and Arya creating Phantasya that is now run by Pegaso, (I believe that it's still running...)

I have made many friends and some enemies along the way, but one thing is certain, the community grew, almost all the players grew up, got a degree, married, got kids, started working, et caetera... the IN Community while banded together by a bound that only IN could create exists in the spirit of those that played on any given rebuilt shard that is a part of the Imagine-Nation memorabilia.

With this said, my list of characters from over the years:

IN1: Rackull [DoD] / [CoD] / [Obscurum], Salarth Uriel
IN2: Rackull [DoD] / [Celestia], Legion[Obscurum]
IN:R: Rackull
IN:X: Rackull
Phantasya: Rackull
Imagine Nation: Rackull

I enjoyed playing on a role-play environment, in the good old days, I enjoyed to have the possibility to extend the experience to others while I was given such a chance, but most of all what I really enjoyed was the people behind the chars, many friends where created, that surpassed a game to real life, many of them exist now as professional connections on LinkedIn and some others remain trustworthy friends on Facebook. People I could always count on as friends. I have seen marriages, I have seen births within this community, I have also seen drama and got burned out by the time that running or staffing a shard/site requires, as so I understand and highly respect Taran decision, a hard one to make from my experience...

This brotherhood created by the many generation of IN followers, is what defines us as a Community and not the shard itself, of course that I would be more than happier to have IN1 online so that I could come to as an escape of my day to day work and fathering my only and most desired child, to play with some old friends, but even then, most of us have life's that do not comply with the excess of youth and most of us could not be reunited in-game even if we tried to.

Such is life, and within a persistent world as Ultima Online, in-game encounters are difficult for those that have a IRL life to manage.

With this said, Kudos to Taran and all the staff, but most of all KUDOS to all the people that made and still make this Community the best ever on the history of Ultima Online experience.

Hey Rackull!

<--- Carding Smile

Glad to see you're still well. I think Phantasya is no longer up, last time I checked (probably back in 2010) it seemed to be down and the forums were abandoned. I actually have my own copy of the server and all of the scripts Arya and I made, but I don't really have the energy for running a UO server these days *old man* Smile

It's a pity that all good things come to an end... I just went to see and seems abandoned yes.

Yeah, tell me about it... with my present work and kid, I don't even get the needed time to myself, everything has a place in time. I never heard about Arya do you know if everything is alright? Check your PM mate Wink

While it's sad to see yet another IN shard go down, at this point it's not so much about the shard but more so about the community we have formed in the 10+ years alot of us have put into this. I have always said IN will never die, while I may stand corrected in the sense of a shard, the IN community always lives on and we always have that flash of nostalgia when we play the game but let's face it, UO is an old game and being that the variety of games and technology has changed drastically in the time that IN was in it's absolute prime, it's hard for anyone to maintain interest in it anymore, players and staff included. Alot has also changed in reality for us all too, I was coming out of high school when I first played IN, now im nearly in my 30's, it's been a wild ride but for the investment of time needed it's near impossible to replicate the glory days of IN with any shard. What we need to remember are the times this game has given us, we were one of the first generations of MMO gamers before it was spoilt by the likes of things like WOW etc, we are the true defination of a gaming community, *****ing, whining and backstabbing included but let's be honest, it's not so much about playing the game anymore, its more about the people you play it with and i'm damm proud to be apart of this community, and while we may or may not see each other at Brit bank or Mt Kendall in the future, IN will always live on because you all know you are just gonna keep coming back to these forums to reminise with the same glorious bastards you have been for the past 10+ years.

Have a nice day Smile
