The PvP testing area (live!)
#49

Win! I will add more tomorrow, watch this space...
#50

The potion delays should now work correctly when in the test region.
#51

Okay after the restart, which will be this evening, the following changes will be in effect in the testing area:

Code:
Cure potions now no longer say "cannot cure this ailment" when you drink one and are not poisoned, this change is global.

Drinking heal potions now gives the heal animation.

Drinking refresh potions now gives the heal animation.

Note: Cure potions already have an animation, so the only pot with no animation are mana potions. This means with a little deductive reasoning you should always be able to tell what type of potion your opponent just drank.

Code:
Magic arrow scroll now casts at 4 mana and 8 damage. The book version remains the same.

Cure and Poison both cast with scroll speed but book mana value (same for both book and scroll).

Mana Drain casts with scroll speed but takes 9 mana (same for both book and scroll).

Flame Strike scrolls now take 27 mana, this was what I originally intended and made a mistake putting them to 26.

Wall of Stone is now only 5 tiles wide.

Fireball now takes the correct amount of mana for both book and scroll.

Flame Strike no longer ignores magic reflect (this was a bug).

Potion delays are all fixed to what I originally intended (thanks to Echo) which is 10s for heals, 5s for Refresh and Cure. These may need tweaking but these are the values I intended to start testing with.

Greater Heal scrolls now take 21 mana and heal 2 hp less than the book spell.

Looking forward to feedback on these changes. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Edit: I will make the appropriate changes to the testing area equipment after the restart.
#52

The equipment has now been updated, no more psn/cure/drain scrolls, added magic arrow scrolls.

For those who wish to test and are concerned about switching hotkeys between "normal" and "testing" I advise copying your injection.xml, making changes, and then you can swap the old file/new file whenever you want your hotkeys in the alternative set up.

I have spoken with Taran and these changes will probably be going live on Sunday (pending any problems with this weeks testing). Most the changes will be going in, in fact the only one that is currently unlikely to make it is the reduction of wall of stone to 5 tiles wide. So if you have feedback (especially of bugs or any other broken things) it is critical to provide it before the weekend to give me time to fix it before the Sunday restart.
#53

I've just added special explosion logs to the equipment. Just to explain: There are just explosion pots with the itemID changed to logs (needed a stackable item) and coloured pink. They work exactly as explosion pots in all respects but the changed itemID means they won't mess with razor users mana drinking macro (the reason I had to leave the explosions out of the testing gear initially).
#54

The testing is now closed and the changes are already ready for Sunday's reboot.

All changes have gone in with the following changes/additions:

Code:
- GH scrolls heals 35hp for 23mana.

- SDK, DK, DB, SDB and HH cannot be poisoned.

- Axes and Spears have been buffed (mostly increases in minimum damage).

- Poisons applied to weapons have more charges than before.

- Poison potions can now be added to event pads.

- Wall of Stone has been restored to 7 tiles but repeated casting on the same spot no longer stacks, instead the timer is reset whenever a new wall is cast and overlaps with an old one.

Feel free to continue to give feedback once the changes are global and you have a chance to try them out for real!

Thank you to all the people who gave feedback. I know a few people wanted things differently, but I hope overall everyone will be happy with the changes and this will lead to more fun for everyone. I know I plan to dust off my player character and try to get into the fray after the changes, so if you don't like them feel better that you'll probably have a chance to kill me (because I'm terrible Smile )!

To be honest it seems like your rushing into such a big change, if it were me I would of paced it and added these changes little by little. I'm sure there's still a number of problems to be dealt with instead of having bugged pvp rather than one that's working as of right now.

Me and habibi have discussed this a few days back, I just think it's being forced and way to fast for such a big change.
#56

A lot of changes are contingent on other changes in order to create balance. Implementation of only a few of them would be imbalanced and almost certainly not suffice. Just because the changes are going global doesn't mean the staff will lose interest in improving and maintaining the quality of PvP, if problems arise or deficiencies are identified then we will do our best to address them. We're not exactly rushing either, I spent weeks in private, then semi-public testing before bringing the testing to the live server for the last 2 weeks.

You mean inviting individuals to a private server where nearly 80% of them goofed off or not many of them know what they're talking about :p? Then on live the portal nearly everyone that tried it only liked it because of damage increasing of spells like FS or they only liked it because it's different from the pvp we have now and they rather have fizzle or try something new than being good at this one. There were many people who as well didn't like it :p

Anyways it's your call imo but there are things that could have been added without others to test small changes instead of adding them in all at once and having such a big change. For example add damages wait for poison mitigation, then add mindblast mana drain and armor based spells then add the poisoning to see if people like it. You just choose to add them altogether because you think that adding the new poison system will add a new variety of skill :p

I myself still don't like this regen system I still rather use potions and i think i was one of the most active players even practicing in that type of PvP

(Lightning spell from book now casts the same as a scroll.)
where should i now earn my money on inscriptions xD thats not good to take away a Income.

But i still like it it is a nice work Loki Tongue

You can't really make any money whatsoever from scrolls anyway can you? Aren't Light scolls like 40g? That's how much it costs to even make them. Anyone can start a 55 scribe and make magic reflect, light, gh, cure, etc the lower ones. Those aren't even worth making except for new players I would think.

edit: I haven't seen anyone comment on the dex and bandage changes. Anyone tried relying mostly on bandages + melee/bow hits? I know for world PvP this probably won't be useful since it's wont be as bursty.

Loki Wrote:- GH scrolls heals 35hp for 23mana.

Don't make gh scrolls more useless than it is now.. 23 mana is sick. You have written "Greater Heal scrolls intake slightly less mana." but now the mana intake is 23 so it's 2 more than it is currently. In this case gh spell should heal same hp as fs scroll.
#60

I think there should be also some penalties for ppl with 60 dex to avoid making group of gankers with 120str and 120 int like monks guild. For example players should be able to always hit them with melee without missing. Leather armor like dragon scalemail should give more ar than 52 (full exp) and gives big bonus for archery, and with 120 dex it should give for example 40% faster swinging with bow/crossbow/heavy crossbow because currently nobody uses leather armors and archery.
