Well I can just as easily argue that banks in houses is the same thing, We have runes so that we can recall and get stuff out of our banks, but yet we have them in our homes? It's to make it easier on the players just as a whole

I have to agree with Nasir and Brandon on this one, I don't like the idea of a gate travel system. Since 99.9% of everyone starts out with 90 magery everyone can recall so it's very easy to get around since we have runebook libraries.
If players could use a gate to dungeons, towns etc. then we would need to put gates there to back as well, which I really don't want to do. Because it doesn't make sense to have a gate leading somewhere but not back.

The only reason why I'd want it implanted is because a lot of people just don't know the world and where to rune to mark these runes, I'd be fine with it if there were only 1 way gates to towns just to get to different locations without having to explore my way there or ask for a rune. On the plus side it would even encourage ganking in other cities like Ocllo Serpents hold etc.

Question about the runebook libraries there's only one in brit isn't there? If so reds are pretty much stranded unless they know there way around :S

It is already very easy to get back and forth in between Minoc, Britain, and Merc Camp which has access to eveything a new player could need. I think the idea of gates to everywhere is a bad idea, when I played on IN:X I made a business out of selling runebooks full of runes to various places. I had runebooks for Scribes, Mages, Dungeons, Mines, Taming spawns. I think if people are so hard up for easier travel, which is already as easy as it should be, they should be a little more creative.

There are runes to crows nest from bank boxes in the cities, I've been in too.

Very valid points on both sides. The reason that I suggested this was to encourage the economy to go to different places .. chill in different places .. Gank in different places. If someone Recalls to Occlo for example and ganks and then dies .. That person is basically stuck there for a few hours ..

Aside from encouraging the use of different towns, it also creates a variety around the world as not 140 of the 160 playing will be standing in Brit or at the bridge not wanting to take the risk. If this means that we have a to add 'Pits Gates or Pits Runes' then I feel like it wouuld be a good idea as it gives everyone a chance to get ressed, gear up and go gank again. The way it is set up now .. if you die .. you basically have to wait and pray that the guy that ganked you is nice enough to let you res and run away or help you get back to brit. I'm not suggesting it only for my own personal benefit because I have a guild that will res eachother .. but those that fly solo are going to be very upset and may not take part in PVP around the UO world unless it is at the bridge.

I am just looking to add as much diversity as possible since that is what the world of gaming is today. Hope you guys see my point.

Maybe we could have an NPC somewhat like the Training Camp NPC and you go upto it and say "Minoc Please" he charges some gold and then opens a gate to that place.
You could always add some quirks like he charges you blank runes, or recall scrolls or something like that.

And if you ask him to goto a place he doesnt go to he would just "hahah you lazy bastard! Walk there yourself!" or something.

Good lord. We already have public rune libraries and almost everyone >= 50 magery. I'd only be for this if the charge is like 10k.
