Kings, Queens and town citizens
#13

Azzo Wrote:On the topic of faction wars and towns, am I imagining things were factions able to take over towns at some point, order towns were guarded and chaos towns weren't. Quite possible I'm thinking of a diff shard though..

Yes that was the 4 faction system with sigils, it's really fun and stuff but the whole point to that system is that you needed a skillcap, the sigil could only be picked up if someone stole it and etc etc having no skillcap makes it so that anyone could just pick up the sigil and waltz away at a nonbusy time.

Need a lot more bodies for that too

IPY sucks, and i remember the kings taxing the shit out of citizens...

Yer... Big Grin

I Like it

i think starting out with simple stones that allow people to either run/vote for mayor and see how it goes

maybe the mayor will get to pick 1 special event a month that the staff will run

If you have a solid foundation, I'd be all for it. Please, think on this some more, and you have my fulll approval. It's not that my approval matters, but if you flesh it out, resource bonuses are more likely to be heard.

I can see Moonglow being lumber, due to the lack of mountains, or even rocks... But keep this thread going, it's interesting.

it's up to the King to decide what the bonus would be

mayors is not prestigious. You would need Kings and Queens. Once someone is elected they would get the King in front of their name and a crown. King Hal etc

I like the basic idea of this. I'm not really sure how to script it well though but I will look into it Smile

I would rather see the system where you fight over the town stones and a group get ovnership over the town untill it´s lost to another group.
If it´s 2-3 groups ain´t important, whats imporant is you get some action to the server.
The group that owns a town, can then set taxes (prices on vendors) hire town guards to help defend the town etc...

thats where i think it gets too complicated.

you would just have zerg pvp which is the worst kind of pvp.

plus...not everyone is into pvp on a server. And what your proposing will inject a lot of instability.

I'd say start with stones in a few towns (SH, Brit, Trinsic?) not all of them. Appoint a mayor for the town to start. And then let players who join vote for a different mayor if they choose. More town stones can be added as necessary after that.

It would also be nice to see guild towns. Where players pay to add statics , etc etc etc. Then they can place player ran vendors if they are a merchant guild and what not. You can also set up a boundary around the guild town to warn players whos land they are in. ALSO if "guild towns" was created they should be payed by wood , iron , gold. So it would have to have a guild effort to create the best guild town. ALSO would be nice if they was a pvp guild they could own their own duel pit with decor of their guild colors and what not.
