How much mana should meditation restore?
#25

Hmmm. This solved some of the problems with the other meditation mechanism but has seemed to have created one as well. Meditation currently does not work at all while you are moving, which is huge.

IMO, a balance of the old med mechanics and the "new" med mechanics would be perfect. 1-2 mana when you press your med key, with the 3.5 sec delay added back, would be really nice. I think with that, should you decide to stand still, you enter into a trance which regenerates mana at the rate it currently does with the "new" system. Perhaps after 2.5 seconds of standing still you enter the trance. Meditation is without a doubt one of the most key skills in this game and it needs to be as useful as we can make it while keeping it 100% balanced and not cheesy.

I do like the "focused" meditation though Taran, I think it was a great addition and it's worked out/debugged very well. It just needs to be coupled with the 'key-spam' meditation mechanics so it can still be used as an active skill as opposed to it's now fully passive mechanics.

This was an awesome update and I thank you and Eru (and of course Shade) for making all this shit happen. I'll do whatever I can to help you guys build this shard into what it potentially can be, it's pretty exciting to see so many new players in such a short time. I think we can really get this project out there and turn on some of the oldschool players. Anyone who has really played Ultima understands that it is absolutely the best game ever created.

I never really liked the "key-spam" meditation though. Maybe just increasing the regen when you stand still (about the same value as now) and have it regen the same as before the update when you stand still. But without having to press the key all the time.
Hmm yeah I like that!

I like that too Smile Because as of now meditation while running isn't effective because of the longer meditation cooldown.

I changed it to work like I described it in my post above. What does everyone think?
