Quote:anyways Kamos is right about everything cater to the people that are here not the people that never log on.

No offense but the only people that were still consistently playing was rainfall and Bonefiend. That would mean to cater to those people.

You could cater to group 1 and have all of them back and you could cater to group 2 and get them back. You see what I'm trying to say? There's no real way to define who you should cater to. Ideal solution is to cater to both groups but there's too many hard-headed people around for that.

XUO might want it catered to them and IN might want to cater to them, who are we to judge who it should be since there has been players on both sides that have been time into this shard.

The fact that everyone is still going on about XUO/IN just shows people weren't willing to accept the idea for more than 1 week.

It's IN:X people.

It is IN:X. Problem is, people don't want IN:X. They seem to want IN and XUO.

That's the thing, what made UO great was the people and our connections to them and nothing can ever replicate that ever again, we all grew up/old and lead different lives, it's almost like going to high school and graduating. It's never the same.

Coming from the beginning of IN I can honestly say that it was a great ride and we all had a lot of fun but this is a different place now and everyone here has to have reasonable expectations, we will never have those glory days back and that's for the best.

Oh, that cement is just, it's there for the weight, dear

The people want XUO

Everyone wants everything. Maybe instead of perpetually focusing on the balance between IN and XUO, we staff should decide what we think is balanced, then say deal with it. It sounds harsh, but I think people the main reason that the argument still goes on is because staff is so open to changes. The end result is that it's constantly flip-flopping by small amounts while other, more important things get ignored. *shrug*

Couldn't agree more. And now that you speak of it, I just had a flash with some memories from IN. Great times hehe Smile

Kudos to you for investing time in INX, want a cookie?

Paulie Wrote:And how the hell im i ruining others fun I was stating why I fell the shard is dead, just like you said its a opinion, or does only your opinion and the others that you like count? anyways Kamos is right about everything cater to the people that are here not the people that never log on.

Of course everyones opinion counts and not just mine or the ones I agree with. If I disagree with your opinion I will tell you what I think is wrong with what you are saying and maybe through some mature discussions we will come to a better understanding of each others opinions and maybe we'd even agree with pieces of what the other person thinks and then we can come up with an even better opinion then what the two of us originally thought. But who am I kidding? This is the internet I'm talking about, there's no such thing as a mature discussion here Sad

I guess you don't see what you're doing that is ruining the fun of others so let me point some things out for you... You come here blatantly saying things like "pvp sucks" but you don't explain why you think it sucks. Instead you expect everyone to take your two word opinion as the word of god and that it's the only possible truth. You come here insulting people when they try to provide their opinion, you come here saying the shard is dead and no fun.

This is how you ruin others fun. Do you think new people want to come here and read negative things about a shard they might join? Do you think new people want to come here and see people getting flamed and insulted for sharing their opinion? Keep doing what you're doing because you, and people like you, are doing a bang-up job of keeping people away from INX.

I say the hard headed people can go to hell. If you aren't willing to negotiate for the betterment of the shard, then you have no place here. You can't have all or nothing. Actually you can... a shard where you get 60-80% of what you like about UO, or no shard at all.

Maybe a committee of level headed people need to get together to discuss the direction INX should go in if people want to see it running in 6 months or even 3 months. In a best case scenario there would be people on this committee that are staff members, players, and people from different backgrounds so INX can continue to try and attract a large style of players and not just a single type of player.

Your asking for a mature discussion 80 and your asking if I want a cookie? Grow the **** up. I never insulted anyone in anyway in my post please quote me on this in this discussion I would love to see it! As far as me not explaining myself about the pvp it does not matter it has already been discussed a millions times in the past and there for people involved in it know what I'm talking about but it will never change I just like putting my two sense into some things at times, since you seem to take everyone's quote and write a story about it. Hence why each of your post are almost a page long. The fact remains that the server is suffering as of right now becase certain people are not willing to deal with certain aspects of the shard, maybe something new needs to happen that has been tried. Such as a pvp change or perhaps a skill gain change who knows. But I for one do not want to see the shard go down because when i get my crap figured out I am looking forward to returning.

Good luck with real-life stuff Paulie, but hurry it up. There are a lot of llamas just walking around with nobody to molest them. It's kinda sad. :<

Also, we need our C# devs to get bitten by the UO obsession again. Tongue I'm still waiting on my Random-ID Loot Bags. :<

Again no offense but isn't this why we have staff to direct the shard for the better of everyone? Really though I think the majority of us have done that/have tried to. Also I think everyone is open ears to hearing the community suggest something, but please be constructive about it and don't just come in saying "omg skillgain is 2 hard" or "omg pvp sucks". There is no real reason to have this "committee"

Eru's got a point though, we should be more harsh if anything.

Agreed, the shard is under no obligation to pander to anyone here and this assembly would do nothing to fix any problem other than add another level of useless bureaucracy to a system already loaded with it.

I've realized that with you and with this discussion, the possibility for it to be a mature one passed at the point where you started being a downer.

How are you being a downer? By hating on INX features while not trying to improve them. It's fine to say you don't like something, but at least say why. Maybe people will agree with the reasons behind your opinion, and the next thing you know 20 people agree with you and then something can be done about it. But no, that would take more then 10 words and more then a few minutes time to do.

The time for mature discussion with you is gone because you purposely say shit like "and just to piss you off......IM OUT". Great constructive contribution you got there, it really evokes positive emotions in me that want me to better understand your opinion...

Maybe my posts are long, but at least they're trying to get something done other then piss someone off and I take the time to explain my opinion to try and convince others rather then blatantly stating something.

Unfortunately that's like saying only staff opinions matter and that no single player has anything of value to contribute.

Personally, I've put so many suggestions up on these forums that get lost in flamewars that the staff don't clean up, or people just say "i don't like it and you're gay" but don't explain what's wrong with it to try and make it a plausible suggestion, or nobody responds to my suggestions that I've lost track of them all. I've even asked Taran to let me be a mod and clean up the forums but he never replied to me.

As far as letting only the staff decide the future of the shard, that would be what, 3 people? I've tried denying it in the past since some people on the staff are my friends and I've been in the shoes of a staff member where more important things in life call me away from a game but there's no denying it... Ginz, Yankovic, Appollo, and Viz are virtual no shows and have been for a while. Although not to the same degree as the last four I mentioned, I haven't seen Hate, Shade, Muto or Tiesto for a while either.

Now before everyone shoots me down, I've argued on behalf of the staff members so many times when others critisize them for being MIA for a week, so don't try and call me ignorant or selfish or any of that crap that usually gets thrown around. I know that most of our staff members are in University, which is intense and requires a lot of dedication, I know some of these guys are in other countries and I applaud each of them for this, but the ones that have been MIA for longer should have stepped down to allow someone else to help in the interim. I'm not expecting a staff member to be logged in 24/7 like some people, I'm not expecting any staff member to give 2 hours of his day every day of the week to the shard either. I'm talking about simple constructive forum posts not getting responses.
