Important news about the server
#1

Well, I'm writing this because there are many people who think that things are not being well announced.
For example: static auctions, important ingame changes and so...

I think forums are not the best place to announce critical things. It should be helped by ingame news. Using the town crier, a gump or a bulletin board (for more RP atmosphere) placed around main banks like Brit, Occlo or any other extra place like the pits. Just places where everybody will see it when they play and when they don't play the game.

In my case, I noticed there were auctions into the forums when Hiroshima got his little static in Brit.

Another thing are PVP events. Why aren't they being announced? Just a few sentences during 15 or 10 minutes ingame are not the best way. They should be announced with a permanent little ingame gump and into the forums. Some way everybody can see them.

I hope this will be taken into consideration, because this is troublesome im my honest opinion Rolleyes

Well, I agree that the current way to annouce events and tourneys might be kind of troublesome to notice at times, but a gump wouldn't be a good idea at all as it most likely would disturb and even ruin alot of PVP/PVM action.

As for what concerns static auctions, important news and maybe even not so important news I think there should be a bulletin board in pits which everyone would access.

I meant a gump of those that are very tiny and GMs (I saw it from Taran) send you to answer a quick question/page ingame. It's so small that you see it but it doesn't disturb you.

Agree with all.

Sometimes im at forums and not logged on while theres a event thats going to start soon and of course I would join if I knew about it but I don't know so end up not joining. This way I think events will get most amount of people.

Also the little event gump is really nice idea because lets say your afk in your house or macroing a skill and a gm of course is telling everyone event in 10minutes etc. You go on your pc to check up on your character and you just missed the notice of the event so you dont know whats going on and go back afk. If there was a gump on your screen like the small page ones you would have noticed it and possible joined that is if your not busy

IMO little changes like this make a difference Smile

well personally a simple b cast is enough for an event, i don't see why you would need a gump, if you're not there you're not there. Also people are suppose to spread the word about tournies so make friends with people and you'll know when theres a tourney

Some people arent on 24/7 like you.

This idea is not doing any harm whatsoever its helping..

Plus this way tournies can have more participants.

i'm not on 24/7 thanks, and i'm not the one who installed UO when i'm suppose to be on vacation in brazil so don't try and call me an addict when you're downloading UO on vacation

sure it's not harming but it's not helping either if your macroing a skill or if you're afk you still won't join the tour because you aren't there

When did I ever say I was on vacation first of all? You must think your smart for saying that.. but we all know.... your not.

plus im macroing some skills.. trying to imply im an addict? lol I cant believe im even responding to this.. YOU calling someone an addict? ffs you dont think when you type do you.

I don't really like the idea of a gump to announce events and such. Players will get used to it and when we really do have something important to say they will just close it without reading it.

I do however think we can use the towncriers more to help announce stuff. That won't really help with auctions though, I still think the forums are the best solution for that so far.

I think many people (not only MadMan and me) are macroing and join an event if they watch their screen and see an announce. But only with the broadcast a lot of them are missing those events.
I just think overinformation isn't a problem, but disinformation is a big one...

i don't like the idea of a gump for events either because the way I look at it is if your on your pc then the staff msg and the lower left corner of your screen should be enough...

Do you not understand the idea behind this though?

Some people are macroing.. some people are afk.. or maybe just alt tabbed doing something and would miss the msg. But if there was a small gump like the one mentioned from pages it would just sit there on his screen and he would see an event is up and join.

The whole point behind this is so more players attend events. Better prizes for the winners of course.
