Lots of people seem to be having problems getting their UO to work correctly without crashing. I figured I'd try to get all the problems/solutions compiled into one thread to make it easier to figure out the problem and fix it.

First of all, basic installation:

http://www.in-x.org/content/view/5/6/ already has a good guide for joining, but I'll paraphrase it.

Download UO's Setup file: Here
Install the game.
Once it is installed, Launch the game and let it patch to full.
Once it has patched fully, you need to update your files to the ones used by IN-X
- Option 1: Package File.
  - Download: Package
  - Unzip all files in the Package to your UO directory, overwriting what's there. (Back up old files if you want to re-patch later.)
- Option 2: IN-X Patcher
  - Download: IN-X Patcher
  - Open Patcher, make sure it loaded the correct path for your UO folder. If it's the wrong folder or is blank, press [Set] to pick the correct folder.
  - Click [Patch IN-X] and wait for it to download and update your files. (May seem to freeze on large files, but it's downloading in the background)
  - IF you plan on using Razor, click "Fix Client" to download Client version 6.0.4.0.
  - NOTE: Files that are replaced during patching are saved to the \Backup directory in the folder where you put the Patcher. If you hit [Fix Client], then the original client is renamed to Client.exe.oldclient.
Install your favorite Launcher Program
- Razor:
  - First, you need the Microsoft .NET framework: Download
  - Then, you need the Razor setup: Download
- Injection: Downloads Section (I don't know much about Injection.)

You should be done after that. You can setup your IN-X Patcher to open your Launcher file (Razor, Injection, ConnectUO) by clicking the [Set] button next to the launcher's path.

Problems That Keep You From Playing At All

Can't Run UO's Patcher After Installing:

Modified .mul Files in UO Directory : If you copy the package into the UO directory or run the patcher, UO will try to patch, realize that the files inside aren't what they're supposed to be, then refuse to apply any patches. To fix this, you have to remove the modified files and restore the originals. If you didn't back up the old files, you'll have to reinstall.
Firewall is Blocking the Patcher : Make sure that you unblock that program if that may be the case. I don't have steps for this because it depends on your firewall. (Note that you may have both a software firewall installed on your computer and another firewall installed in your router if you use one.)
Insufficient Privileges in Windows Vista/7 : If you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7, be sure you run the patcher as Administrator. (Right click, select "Run as Administrator")
Other If you simply cannot get it to patch, there is a last resort that you could use... I patched a copy of UO to full and then uploaded it to MegaUpload. You will need to download each of the following links, then unzip them. I recommend using JDownloader to automatically download them and skip having to wait and put in Captcha codes. [SIZE="1"]Note: For people who are having problems unzipping, just download them all into one folder, then open any of them. All the files together act like a single archive.)

Something's Not Working Right (Game/Software Related)

Can't See Razor's Inventory Displays in Titlebar in Vista or Windows 7
You're most likely using the Aero interface. Razor's still putting the info in the title bar, but the Aero title bar doesn't show it. To fix it:

Option 1: Turn off the Aero interface and use the classic view.
Option 2: Find your client.exe and right click, go to properties, and then the compatibility tab.
- Check the box labeled "Disable visual themes"
- Check the box labeled "Disable Desktop Composition.

[SIZE="1"]Use option 2 if you want to keep Aero when you're not using UO. (Note that when UO launches, the screen will flicker as the virtual themes are disabled. While UO is running, Aero might look slightly different on other windows.)[/SIZE]

IN-X Patcher Problems (See This Thread for bug reports.)

IN-X Patcher Tries to Update but then Crashes
You run the IN-X Patcher and it says that there's a newer version available and that it's downloading it. After a small delay, a message pops up saying that it failed to find "{directory}\UpdateSwap.exe" and then the program closes. This usually occurs on Vista or Windows 7, and generally only if UAC is enabled.

The cause: Insufficient privileges to create/delete files. Most likely caused by putting the Patcher into a protected program's folder such as the UO directory.

Solution 1: Right click the file, go to the compatibility tab, and select "Run as Administrator." Hit OK, and try running the program again.
Solution 2: Run the file from somewhere else, such as "My Documents". You have full read/write permission there so there should be no error.
Solution 3: (ADVANCED) Disable UAC. If you are virus prone, you might not want to do this. It's the thing that pops up asking "Are you sure, etc etc" all the time when you run things.
