smoke and i tried this feature today and we loved it to be honest.

Did you forget you both are PKs??
1/5 population of the server is PK.
So making a 1/5 population happy is sad.
Im not quitting Smoke, I wont do it for such a small thing, but I will take a small break.

I think most of you have made some valid points.

It is true that it does not look good if new players see 90% of us in our houses, nor does it look good if we're all AFK in pits.

It is also true that players whom do not like to hunt should not be getting the "hunt spots for free" so to speak, and they pretty much are now.


From a PKers perspective this feature is great. They have an easier time finding people to kill, and that is a plus considering how hard it can be to find players to kill when the shard is small and the world is big.

From an hunters/none-Pks perspective this feature most likely sucks. They can't hunt alone, they get interupted a lot, plus the other people gets their hunting spots for free.

Bottomline:

I think that this feature has more downsides than upsides. At a PvP shard this feature would have kicked ass, but now it'll upset way more players than it will gain most likely. I also think that you should give it a shot for a week and see what you think tho, but I don't think that it is worth keeping in the end.

I do like the other idea that we were discussing tho, the one with showing a message to people who has it toggled on when somebody leaves pits tho etc, that feature would not have any real big downsides to it, this one does tho I'm afraid.

That's what I think anyway, but keep testing it during this week tho, I haven't really tested it myself either, perhaps it's great for everybody, who knows, only time can tell! :]

While we're on the subject of the status page, I think it's completely ridiculous that people can see my fame on the status page. I mean they can just load up the status page and POOF they know who's good to kill to get fame. I work hard to get my fame up and some OMGpeekay is going to just steal it all with one click of a button. He'll be like 'oh there's sindern. he has good fames' and then it's all Kal Vas Flams and Por Ort Grav. This needs to be fixed GMs.

Why are you so worried about fame btw, unless it does something in some quest i don't know about fame did nothing as far as I know. either way healing out of a dump is ez and having a macro to recall to brit as soon as u see someone is ez to make also.

hunting gotta be safe now? with a playerbase so low its practically safe the way it was before this update.

I'm not worried about fame. I was kinda poking fun at the whole mess of this status-page nerd rage. Note the at the end. When you get down to it, the items you'd lose from getting ganked while you're hunting are just as useful as the fame I pretend to care about.

We don't play this game to hoard items, we play it to have fun. We need to find a way to bring the fun back into the game. Regardless of how we do that, with more quests, more tourneys, more PVP, more RP, etc., we first need to stop arguing and complaining so much. I can click on a topic in the forums at random and there's about an 80% chance that somewhere in there is RPers mad at PVPers or vice versa.

The PVPers aren't going to stop killing people and make up RP stories and start acting them out, and the RPers aren't going to stop their thing and turn into blood-thirsty killing machines. What needs to happen is we need more players. I made a post on Facebook (which I hate) about IN:X hoping that people would join. Start up a recruitment drive and I think that a lot of the problems will fix themselves.

*Sigh* I don't know where this "RPing is the opposite of PVPing" begun... but you really gotta get this straight sometime soon. Roleplaying has nothing to do with what you, apart from the roleplaying, chose to do in the game... You can chose to be a Crafter, PVMer, PVPer, PKer etc. etc.

PVP and RP goes hand in hand if you wish so. You can be a PVPer and a RPer at the same time.

I just wanted to clear this up.

I agree with Hate, I'm starting to see some drawbacks to this feature... Maybe it could be tweaked to just say what town you're in and otherwise say UNKNOWN.

Combine this with the option to turn a setting on/off ingame for when people enter/leave pits or a town it could work pretty good for those who want it to be there... This setting wouldn't stop your location from showing on the status page, it just wouldn't show the message ingame when you move.


Sindern I know you said it as a joke (especially after you explained it) but I just wanted to say for all the people looking to find negativity in each little thing... Do you really think pkers need a reason to kill someone? They'll kill you for a reason as stupid as because you're wearing blue, because you're wearing a wizard's hat, because you have the letter N in your name lol. They don't need a reason :p


Luda there are 3 things fame does for you that I can think of right now;

1) Once you hit +/- 10k fame you can wear a guild shield. You don't have to maintain 10k fame, just get it once. I think you also have to buy the shield in the period where you have +/-10k fame but I'm not sure about that part.

2) It lets you train the sacrifice virtue (I won't spoil what it does for you, you can google it yourself :p) if it's not disabled.

3) It gives you the word "Lord" before your name when you hit 10k. Unlike with guild shields you have to keep the 10k fame to see the word "Lord" before your name.

well here goes yet another nice add in, in general because people complained about dying to much in a pvp/pvm shard. Now guess whats the matter in the sentence..? really wake up guys IT'S CALLED PVP/RP FOR A REASON, it actually makes me mad to see how many of you are just that afraid of dying when you're all so god damn rich. The status Lord doesn't make a difference. no idea what #2 is about and the only thing I can see is #1.
