people departing from pits

Eighty Swords Wrote:Get out of my head hate! I agree with what you said 100%. Now what do you think about the actual suggestion of this thread? hahaha do you see any ways to abuse it or any shortcomings of it?
There are always ways to abuse things, but if it is being done in a good way then we may be able to pull it off without having too much downsides to it. :]

Eighty Swords Wrote:What should the message say (just someone left pits or where they went from pits)? Should everyone be able to turn the message on and off as they like or is it always on? If you can turn it on/off, does the setting apply to the whole account or just one character?

Well I think that if we want it to have any use in ganking then it should say where they go, and not just that they left pits, because if it just shows that somebody left pits every 1 minute or so then people will just start to ignore it, because that happens all the time, it's not even interesting unless you know that the person leaving pits either left to a red town, or is in an enemy guild so you can do guildwars on him, and even if he is you'd just be like "ah well, before I've checked up on all the blue spots he'll already be gone..", there for I think that we should show where they go as well.

I don't think that we should have it enabled for everybody, because if players do not want their location to show (and has no interest in knowing others locations either) then they shouldn't have to. There for I think that the on/off system would be good, since then players who likes to gank, and would risk getting ganked to be able to find a few more people to gank, can use it, but others whom have no interest in ganking whatsoever can stay away from it. I also think that we should have a timer on it so IF you enable it you won't be able to disable it again for 24 hours or something.

I think that the on/off system should be account-bound and players are not allowed to have more than one account, so that should most likely take care of that way to abuse it.

I think that we should only have this enabled while our client base is low, because when it gets bigger it will spam logs and annoy people, plus it isn't important at bigger more active shards with a lot of ganking going on.

I'm still not sure if players would like it or not, but if we follow those steps mentioned above then it should not annoy the players whom would dislike it, but it would most hopefully be a positive thing for the people whom are willing to risk showing their location when leaving pits, in order to be able to find other players when they want to gank :]

I think that we should try this out if the players would want it, after all there is no harm in trying it. If it turns out bad then we could just remove it, and if it turns out good then woho - good for us! - more ganking going on for the players wanting that - and it won't affect the players whom do not want that :]

That's what I think Wink

I just wanted this to be tested out, i mean like what the hell every time something new gets added for RP/PVM matter nobody disagrees or other things like the new logs that have been added. You don't see us saying how we don't want that added because it gives us "PvPer's" more things to do rather than pvp.

I mean i don't understand why people are negative about this "spam" shennigians we use .wop for pvp for god sakes, and i hate to break it to you guys but our shard isn't so big. so how can 30 people every (5 sec for pits 3 sec to enter a new town) spam so much in that much time? it would be deleted by the time someone entered a new town if they were even trying to spam.

Spam is not an exuse of why this cannot be tested out it's because the players in general are too afraid of the fact being known to the world. Pretty pathetic well GM's you always encourage ganking etc i think it's time to allow this suggestion and make the world a little less protective and allow us to see when a "person leaves the pits" it doesn't even tell you're location. That's another thing thats ridiculous because people are so afraid of it when it really just tells you whose active and where you "MAY" be able to find them.

God damn that turned out longer than i wanted it to be..

I'd rather test the region displaying on the website first and see how that goes.

Hehe, an "turn on/off feature" would be very hard to get working on the status page I'm afraid =P Then everybody would just have it turned off and watch the location of people who has it turned on.. :/

The only way that I can think of to make that work would be to add an "website turn on/off feature" linked between the website and your account, so ppl who has chosen to have it turned on at the website can see other ppls locations who has it turned on at the website, but that's just a very complex solution that would probably take a lot of work to get working properly ;p

So Taran what you want to do on the website, would that mean your location (and I mean area and not xyz location here) shows no matter where you are? Whether that's a town, pits, your house, a dungeon, in the ocean, etc it will say wherever you are?

thank you taran for considering it and looking into it

Geez, wait until Sunday and you will see how it works!
