stronger warforks and battle axes
#1

Once upon a time the warfork and battle axe were a feared weapon in a duel. Now a days the only weapon you see in a duel is the bardiche. Why? Becasue players don't have any other choice. The speed/strength ratio of the bard far surpasses any other weapon. So it's a hands down decision...to go with the bard. Sure, you could equip a halbred or a war hammer but the bard hits almost as hard and is much faster. Or you could equip a warfork and shield to add some armor and quick hits. But the warfork is extremely weak. It's so weak you may as well equip a dagger. Or you could use a battle axe. It's a bit quicker than the bard. But doesn't come close in terms of strength. As of right now, the only logical weapon to use in a duel is the same old bardiche.

Another thing is, alot of PvPers complain that dueling has become boring and repeatative. This is somewhat true due to the fact that every PvPer uses a bardiche. Since everyone uses a bard in a duel, everyone's dueling tacticts remains much the same. Therefore nothing changes. And dueling remains repeatative. Having stronger warforks and battle axes would give players the choice to use a different weapon in a duel. Using these weapons will force players to change their dueling tacticts. Also, having stronger warforks will sway more players to use weapons like the halbred and war hammer to bust through that shield. Using different weapons in a duel will force change in dueling tacticts. Thus making every duel more fun and exciting and different. But like i stated above...no one uses these weapons because they are way to weak.

I have put alot of thought into this post and i hope it gets some serious consideration. The shard has really come alive recently due to the addition of the skills stone/ores/armors/rides/and decreased prices in tubs Big Grin and so on. The staff have really done an amazing job with this shard. I am only trying to continue this trend with my idea. Wink

Thanks,

this post will push the old discussion about the effects in the PvP system. There will be the day that ill get some time to learn PvP'ing here because i would like it. So im not in the group of possible complains.
I remember about creating a topic about the same issue. And i raise a question:

Could this idea affect so much the PvP system? A bardiche is slow and make good hits, but how about a katana, balanced to be faster. I think increasing the choice of weapons for duel wouldn't affect the PvP system, i guess. I dont duel so i might be throwing some dumb facts.

Why the pads of events give all those weapons if the only choice is bardiche? War hammer would be good, battle axe, katana or kryss. I know that incresing the number of possible tactics would affect the system, but would be a drastic change? my question is innocent cuz i really dont know :p.

The damage are taken from maka xuo. Warfork are usuable along with a shield and could thus easily be made to strong. Battleaxes are faster about twice as fast not exactly but almost.

One weapon will always be the "best" altough a fork is nice if u need to run around and re-gain mana along with a shield.

The issue that makes Bardiches alot better than battleaxes are the attack last and auto attack issue we currently do experience and we are working on a fix.
once bards re-gain the speed they are supposed to have battleaxes will still have their use and still deal less damage ofcourse but more often.

hum, i see. but it could be a good balance if a bardiche hit equals to two battle axe hits but faster. and a faster weapon like warfork or katana for a different tactic, if a player wants to gain mana and starts running around the arena. Because running and hitting would give some chance to the player. This wouldnt change the pvp system.
And for hunters would increase the market, because instead of just selling one weapon we could have more weapons that PvP'ers would search to buy.

Honestly, would these ideas change the PvP system? Can a regular PvP'er give his/her opinion about this :p.

I remember on the 2 versions of XUO that I played there was a variety of weapons that you would see in duels; q-staff, bardiche, hally, short spear, warfork, and battleaxe are what I remember being the most common.

Sorry Solid[PT], I'm not a huge PvPer, but I do think it will give some variety to the PvP. Maybe not a HUGE difference, but I think there will be some. If you take a weapon like a short spear, which is much faster but lower damage, people will have to heal more often, or if you have a really high power but slow weapon when you get that big hit it makes people need to heal faster because they think the dump is coming, so they might use a gheal scroll, use up tons of mana and the attacker wasn't even going to dump.

Makes you have to think more and get to learn your opponents a bit better and what tendencies they have.

Another example is if I'm fighting you and you always have a bardiche, I could take a faster weapon to throw you off and make you change because I'm getting so many small hits on you.

Just my thoughts.

ba's are actually pretty good as they are i used one today in the rep and it hits just as hard as a bard and its faster lol might use that from now on

I think you work on this pvp too much for in box (that thing that you call pvp arena) than "outdoors". The pvp outdoors suck... that why some ppl dont like it, like me for example

I'm on top of it!

Well yes, the battle axe isn't too bad as it is but it doesn't hit nearly as hard as a bard...i dunno what smoke is talking about...he must get really really lucky hits. But as for warforks, they are way way to weak. They are a useless weapon in a duel. Like eighty swords said, you used to see a huge variety of weapons in a tournament. And that was kool. It throws in a new aspect of dueling. You would have to learn different dueling tacticts against players that use different weapons. I never played xuo2 so i have no idea how the weapons were tweaked on that shard. But i do remember playing the first xuo(the best one) And you would regularly see a wide variety of weapons because they were actually useful. The warfork, battle axe, halley and bard, were all extremely popular weapons and rightfully so. They all had a purpose. Unlike now...a warfork can barely hit your opponent below 92hp. So whats the point in using one? Well there is no point. That's why no one uses a warfork. And everyone uses a bard. Nothing changes...

u used to see that before we introduces autosupplied duels Smile
Lets see if the fix resolved the target last issue. and thus bard should be made slower.

And i have seen warforks and hammerpicks be used in the non autosupplied tornies. Sounds like i need to host more off them - as untill we do that bards will be the most common weapon.

Another factor why warforks/hammerpicks havnt been used in autosupplied tornies is because your not able to equip the shield

well you can't change the original speed of a bardiche because it's always been like that although a battle axe is quite better then a bard ive been dueling with one recently and i perfer it and i'll start dueling with one more
#11

Actually Odium, when u get auto supplied, u start with the shield already equipped. If you keep the shield in your hand, u can choose to use the shield and warfork/hammer pick Smile

Every weap gets low hits sometimes.. even hallys you probably got unlucky using a BA and posted this. I was dueling somebody recently forgot who and the BA was gettin some decent hits.. 40 dmg and so on. I guess its all about luck but if changing the speed / dmg of a Battle axe does happen i think the only thing that will change is everyone will use a battle axe since it will be over powered Smile So you wont see bards anymore.

No life is complicated only if you make it to be
