Corpse Decay timer
#1

Hey guys I'm just throwing this out there because several times since I started playing IN:X I've had a corpse decay in what to me, seemed too little time. If your hunting alone and die -- I'll use covetous extreme ogre as an example here -- it takes you like 2 minutes to get back to your corpse from the res ankh outside. Now that doesnt include the deaths along the way to the various mobs that will 1 shot you in your res robe, then the deaths that will no doubt ensue while trying to hide and get your stuff. I'm not sure what the decay timer is currently, seems like around 10 minutes? Possibly 10 minutes and then the corpse turns into bones, and like 1 minute after that it disappears.

Its extremely aggrivating to go through all the trouble of getting back to your corpse, start looting it, and then mid looting have it vanish completely. Maybe a possible solution to this is if the corpse is activated/looted, the timer refreshes on it or adds another 10 mins or so? I dunno, to me it just seems to quick to decay just now thats all, some people will probably disagree with me, but its just a suggestion.

This was discussed a long time ago. Personally I think the corpse decay timer is very long and you always have the option to call a friend to help you.

If you want to read what other people thought, try searching for the thread.

I am lazy, so I just start the discussion again :p

I think 10 minutes isn't long. It is a world and I dont think that a corpse should rot that fast in a world. I think it is even more fun if corpses stay much longer, like an hour or even more. So people actually see people who died in the world.

But I don't think it should be long in cities or dungeons since that would create a big mess and there are resgates near there anyway.

I don't think that you should have to rely on a friend (if you have any) to get back fast enough before your body decays..

If you venture into a dungeon on your own you take a risk, now where's the risk if your body will still be there after an hour for you to loot?

reread my post Wink

I am more talking about in the world outside dungeons and cities. And other people will be able to search for bodies in the world and loot them before the player is back.

Still, venture the world on your own and you take a risk.

im sorry i didnt mean to spark a big philosophical debate over it. basically i think the timer is ok at 10 minutes, but maybe a refresh if you open the body or lift an item from the corpse? like an added 7 mins or something. I think there should be danger in hunting. But I also think if you work to get your corpse back you should be able to do it and the 10 mins felt a little to short to be a reasonable timeframe, to me anyway, thats all.

You mean you would like to add a delay so the corpse doesnt decay while you are looting it? In that case just an added 1 minute would be needed.

Indeed. The decay time was pretty good imo and this upgrade makes it even better Wink
