Bah i really hoped stealing won't be able at the game.
You know it will leave people out of town, like it did at RunXuo.
Plus new people ain't able to macro, because they will get robbed time after time. If you enable stealing and you guys will, we will get back in the days where everyone is at their house and we will have a full pits!

Nobody is going to steal from new players... Who wants to risk getting whacked and waiting 5 minutes to res for some junk a newbie has?
Gris and wold, from what I remember on standard runuo I believe there is a timer per npc. Also I think there is a timer per npc, meaning once you begged from one you would have to move onto another to get more cash. think after 15 or 30 minutes you can beg that npc again to get more gold. though my memory is a little rusty on begging since I never like that skill.

i never really liked stealing... it just annoyed people... coz people and newb characters who just stole off you multiple times even if they got gwacked they would come back over and over and over... you couldnt get rid of them.

Actually, thinking about it, it seems like stealing from players would really just be an annoyance. I do still like the idea of being able to make a pretty good profit from stealing from vendors (stealing decent sums of gold, or stealing items and selling them back after a bit), so the skill is somewhat useful.
But I do remember stealing being more of a "griefing" move than an actual RP.
And Tabion, think of all the newbs in brit macroing magery and such, with hundreds to thousands of regs or bandages on them? I think most people would find that the risk of dying naked (whos gonna risk losing anything?) is definately worth the chance of a big steal (1000 regs is 4k GP, and takes a good 15 minutes to acquire). And then for people not AFK, those same people can just keep trying over and over again, like Boromir said.
If it is enabled then I do agree that the town populations (especially Brit) will drop far more than they would with the implimentation of, say, house banks

The masses will finish up macroing in town by the time stealing is enabled probably. Not to mention that stealing stacks of items is alot harder then stealing a shield or weapon. You have a high chance of fail in comparison to non-stacked items, at least from what I think runuo defaults it as. Besides I am sure they are going to overlook the skill thoroughly before implementing it.
As for trying over and over again... you fail and you cannot go into town for 5 minutes, not everyone is afk and you will be attacked instantly by tons of people if you don't get guard whacked. Normally your gray timer lasts longer then your crim timer and you can't even snoop around without getting killed.
I actually liked going into town on INR and just stealing something really light so I wouldn't be whacked but just flagged gray and then get people to fight me. It inspired tons of fights at Brit bank. Fun times.
Boromir....I know that being stollen is no good for you, nor for me of course but if u goes to no guarded zone you could be looted anyway and killed, what is worse?
Stealing is a part of the uo game and (at least for me) is a way to stop massive macroing and crowed banks that makes lag or worse things like being your path blocked.
Not being stolen is soooo easy....just step aside when someone get too close

Imo there should be a risk of .jail if you get caught.. not for days or anything like that.. but perhaps for 5-10mins. And when your served your time you should be auto teleported outside jails.
That would also make it a pain to raise i know..But perhaps only make it work if its on a player and not npc your stealing from.

That seems a bit drastic considering that any other crime you commit in town just results in the guards killing you. If anything you would think attempted murder would have such a consequence.
I wouldn't be against it if every rule broken, that would normally result in guards killing you, had this in effect but there is no reason to single out stealing like this. If murderers just get a whack to the head, why would thieves get a worse punishment?

Keep stealing disabled, going to trade with someone, they already got the item targeted, then once trade is over, item is gone... and Tabion, all you did on IN:R was steal. Run right beside players still there regs. As you said earlier, perhaps you did use a macro to steal peoples items"Easy UO". -1 If this is enabled. I will never leave pits. And I am sure people will camp pits a lot. And people that uses stealing, I'd say not go hunting, but rob other people, as they did the hard work.

I never stole regs in town because it almost always resulted in guard whacks. I also never used EasyUO because I prefer to do things by hand and use skill compared to a cheat program.
If you left town you would know I was always at brit bridge fighting someone and only went into town when the action died down. I stole to create action, at least in town. Trust me there are 50 players here that can say they beat me in duels all the time outside of town. I was always fighting whenever I could so I really don't know where you got that idea. Not to mention 60% of my time on IN:R I was red...
And I really want there to be a way to prevent scripts from stealing because it is just pathetic.
weehooruslilalolooma, maybe you are thinking of another daemon who stole every second he was on? That certainly does not sound anything like me, sorry.

Stealing is a skill and its a function of UO so it should definitely be brought in. But maybe make it pvm only for now. Already a lot of people have high detect hidden and it seems a passive skill so there wont be people stealing around places like Minoc and Britain bank. Maybe turn the stealth detect up on NPC's so the would be thief really has to be good at what they do to succeed. But it should deffo be in the game.
