Guild banks
#1

i havnt seen any public threads on this even though i know admin are discussing it. so i figured a public discussion might be helpful (at least to my cause Big Grin)

guild banks. pros: centralises the guild. quick, efficient, promotes guildhouse pvp.

cons. banks are frikken massive, and you can easily live out of them, takes people away from town banks.

compromise? there are tonnes of people at brit bank so quite frankly, who cares. banks could be reduced to holding only 5000 stones as they did back in the day so that people only keep important belongings in there and still require a house to store hordes of useless junk.

so yeah, discuss.

I, personally, would much rather have a bank with unlimited storage than a bank in my guild house.

We could just have guild banks only and keep banks off of the house signs. Guild banks are expensive too, that would also limit them to only the bigger guilds.

Instead of making Guild bank expensive, I would like to see it limited to the size of the guild, like 20 members or so. Big guilds would actually need the bank, a small rich guild, not so much.

I mean, guild bank for a rich guild who has 3 members? Doesn't seem right.

So you would only be allowed to have a guild bank if your guild is huge? That doesn't seem very fair. It seems geared to your particular guild actually.
I think that every guild deserves a bank and it does add to pvp. Many people will not want to store their own belongings at their hq but with a bank they will have access to them and will be able to suit up when needed.
Thats what it really comes down to though... if I was a member of someones guild I would not want to leave my belongings for someone else to be able to touch. Then we would hear those stories like "hey man I borrowed your vanq bardiche but I got ganked... sorry" or something along those lines.

i reckon guild banks wont cause any harm. If anything it will create wikid kool guild battles outisde of hqs. If there arent any guild banks... there wont be any pvp at hqs... i think its a must

Guildbanks have no downside in my opinion.

They inscrease guild co-operation and create a solid base for a guild to stay around.

They make guild house raiding possible and fun.

They help guilds train their skills without spreading out over the world. Keeps them together which increases their willingness to stay at the screen instead of just going afk.

Taran posted an idea about a shared bank for an entire guild in another thread however that is an idea i do not feel makes any difference. A locked chest where the guild members have a key would be the same. Besides such a chest would not be used to store an individuals rare items. You would only store items for the entire guild.

Since its legal to loot all houses then there HAS to be a way to access your bank to store your more valuable items. Im all for setting a weight limit to the bank system so that no one will be able to store all their belongings in their bank. Perhaps make this limit only exist for people in a guild. Since a lone player wont have such access to his bank.

Even if it is hard to earn money here, at some point everyone would be able to afford a guildstone and a guild bank. I can say I would EASILY buy a guildstone for 250k and a guild bank for let's say 750k, if it gave me the ability to bank at my house. I am sure there are more who feels the same way.

If guild banks are limited to large guilds, people would know the guild members comes there to bank their stuff, which means more PvP in these areas.

If guild banks are available to everyone, I would just put a small house at the most remote place I could think of, it would sooo be worth 1000k to be able to bank safe in an unguarded place. Or even better, split it with a friend and only have to pay 500k.

Coming from a PvP-shard, I feel guild bank is more carebear than being able to GM all skills in a few days.

On the other hand, guild bank for large guilds would make the guild a better community for the players, and would encourage large guilds. Personally I would like to see war between two big guilds than between a thousand two-man-guilds.

guilds have houses and thats the same thing as a house bank if you are living in that house.. so back to the other thread the awnser is no for me?

You are honestly saying that you would spend 1 million gold for a bank at your house? Seems to me that is money better spent for just a bank for yourself. The only reason I disagree with your theory on limiting certain guilds to have bank boxes is because not everyone wants a huge ass guild... Some people like to have a guild that is just rl friends or just like to keep it somewhat small instead of recruiting a percentage of the shard.

Yeah I love big guild fights as well but people should not be forced to do so or need to be a huge guild just to have the same rights. Small groups or large, it is fun either way.
It should either be for all or none not select few. Besides a guild of 20 members or more... I have two other people who play in my house and a neighbor with 3 comps I can use at my disposal, not to mention a mess of friends who would make an account and join my guild to help me. Within 24 hours I could have Daemon up to 50+ members, using little effort.
Will I do such a thing? Never. But I guarantee others would and that right there makes it pointless to have such a segregating rule.
Kind of disappoints me that you wouldn't want groups of friends who play here to have the same rights as everyone else....

Well as an example, Between Empire and Templars we have in excess of 20 members now... and when we are all fussing aboutt he guild house its a real pain having to goto the bank.. come back.. goto the bank come back to give people stuff.... so really its not like a bank is killing social interaction... im interacting with my guild.

At the moment i have an absolute shite load of ingots in my bank that i need to some how move to the guild house. At the moment im polymorphing into a daemon and moving em 900 at a time... with a bank i could move, drop.. move, drop... without having to worry about people stealing them etc etc...

Small things like that are made alot easier with a bank.

Either way im not overly fussed as ive been doing it the above way as a daemon so far and its working ok Tongue

I agree with both Tabion and Elcid, it should be for all guilds or none and i think if implemented it could save alot of hassles, like Elcid mentioned about carting ingots to the guild, but then new characters dont have the luxury of polymorphing like Elcid, trust me i know Smile there are always commodity deeds, but that only really helps with resources.

I however do not agree with a personal character bank in guildhouse, although that'd be cool, it would result in guildmembers not leaving the guildhouse cos they have everything they own available to them right there, which could decrease the ability/possibility of guild battles outside HQ's, and i think it'd be fun if battles like that took place and you could possibly directly affect a rival guilds economy.

I believe that if people are worried about storing their items in a guild bank box for fear of others using and losing your stuff then the guildmaster should place down separate lockable chests for members that only they have access to, or if a couple of members want to share one, i mean id share one with Gris and Wold in Empire cos i know they wouldnt screw me.

I like Taran's idea about the guild bank box, however they should be limited so that the guildmaster and a select few the guildmaster chooses can moderate the contents of the bank box, say if he aint on 24/7, members can still get armed if one of those moderators are on, it would allow the accumulation of guild equipment that someone cant just come along at take it all and sell it or lose it and just restock again cos they keep getting ganked, it would allow the guildmaster to manage guild profits, items etc. and if your guildmaster sucks and hordes it all without contributing back to members that contribute to the guild then mutiny Smile

anyway thats my 2c worth

Commodity deeds can only be converted into ingots when they are in your bank... so they dont really help unless your giving the deed to someone else so they can put them in their bank. :p

And i also like Tarans idea about a Guild Box... Would save having to give every member a key to one box... i already have about 3 keyrings full of keys....
