well after all, i think we might give it a try if we have some spare time. I can only enjoy the guitar intro when i start uo and wait for in-x to come onlineBig Grin the new sounds are MUCH better than the one i had

yes lederoil, i realize there are many different kinds of shards out there, but i don't think any took an approach at music like this because to them it wasn't worth it.

seems you are intending this idea to be a very complex feature... even more so then i imagined. i'd like to see how much time maka thinks this would take to make 18-54 different tones for 5 or so instruments and make a good interface, laying out the zones you would click on etc.

maka said we could give this a try provided it doesn't require any client modifications... any idea on that lederoil? maybe you do some searching on this idea to get the ball rolling.

And how can you know no one uses this idea? In which shards have you played on? How can you talk, about something you have no freaking idea of? Ridiculous!

And this has nothing to do with what I wanted to point out! Fighting, with or without 'playable' instruments, does NOT has to be a big part of UO! How freaking hard, is it to realize people enjoy different things? - I can tell, 80% of those who enjoy playing instruments IRL, would love this to become a part of UO! God I'm getting pissed of by your narrow-minded crap.

The idea is very simple, playing the instruments good is very complex. I've mentioned several times, in this thread, that we will use MIDI sounds! We don't have to make any, because there are already sounds, which we will use! Christ.

According to maka, it would take about one day to make the whole idea. He's unsure how to add custom sound samples though, but I doubt it is hard, or time consuming.

Err... I am offering the shard an idea of mine. I'm asking for opinions, the bigger part of those who has commented, does like it, and thinks it's great. If the bigger part of the shard, would think this idea is great, it would improve the shard. So I have no god damn idea, why you're trying to say, I should do all the work? I have no skills and what so ever, and you're trying to say - I should do this? What do you want me to search for?

I am already trying to do everything I can! I'm making the instruments for example, and I would love to be instructed for something else, to help this idea going.

WOW! What game have you been playing over the years? Seriously O_o When ever I think of Ultima Online, the first thing that hits my mind is sitting on a bench outside Brit bank, RP'ing or just chatting with other players while playing an instrument. Ultima Online is far from just fighting. I mean, think of all the crafting and trading among players for instance..

I think this idea (if it will work) is awesome. It will enrichen gameplay.

P.S. The turtles need a place to live! ;D

EDIT:

This idea does no harm anyone or our ideal of a shard, this means that we consider it to be beneficial, but not crucial. We will implement if when we have the shard up and running at a stable state and when we have enough to do the research (to see if it is even possible).

Now your two views of UO differ a lot, stop pushing it on each other. I really don't want to lock a thread that started out creative and positive just cause it ended in a bad way. People are used to express themselves in one way, and it seems that it can be misunderstood by some, but you guys need to learn when to let it go.

so if you think of pvp and pvm when thinking uo, then my question is, arent instruments a part of pvm? calming and paralyzing monsters?

DeNiro, on xuo you didn't really calm the animal. The main thing was to cast an ev and let it do the damage. and you shoot it from a little farther away with a bow. im not sure, but skills like peacemaking might have been disabled.

If I understood Taran correctly then it'll be like this: Any skill that does not conflict with the XUO PvP will most likely be enabled. If they do conflict with PvP then we modify them so that they do not do that anymore, then we'll enable them.

i wasn't talking about on INX, i was refering to how peacemaking (and most likely many other skills such as tracking) weren't used on xuo.

It could be a serious gm feature. Raise the bar on GM musician to 200. First 100 GM would give a music reward noob item color, name, etc. Second gm would be the gump. That would eliminate annoying immature nubs. On top of that, it could only show the gump when used with your gm musician reward. That would eliminate any screwups if someone wants to use it normally for the game.

Or there could be a fee, or perhaps a quest for music players to obtain it.
There are all possibilities.
Hell, we could invent the first UO band ingame!!!!
