im proposing vendors carry a limited amount of gold. this idea came to me just before i went to bed, and i just wrote a few points about it. ask any questions if you're interested.
-> this makes you travel to sell your stuff. meaning you can't sit in one spot and keep selling all your stuff while you macro.
-> this also populates other cities making the shard look more alive. people won't arrive in a town and have it to themselves.
the rate vendors would restock at would be something similar to their resupply time for their goods. ie: if every 2 hours their stock is refilled, that is when they will get more gold.
another possibility is that they will only get more gold if people buy goods from them, plus they would have a minimum amount of gold like 5k. if you buy 2 bardiches at 25gp each they then have 5050gp to buy stuff from you. if you try selling 6k worth of stuff they will tell you they can't buy that much at that moment.
Thanks,
GM Pande

Nice idea Pande... i think they should have a set amount of gold... and then anything extra sold by them adds to there total "purse" at the time... but again there should be a max of say 10,000gp on their purse.
Also mage venders shouldnt stock more than 50 of each reg at any one time unless extra has been sold to them by a player.

im not suggesting to change the vendor stocks, but if we see it's too high or low, we will adjust it.
i don't think there should be a max limit. if you buy a lot from a vendor there's a reason for it, and people will probably try selling to that same one too.

On in, inr etc we had a limit on the amount of regs on venders... it stopped people from whoring regs and also added to the time it took people to train alchemy and magery etc....
it may sounds kinda lame but it worked well
and like you said it makes people travel!

there was also a limit on xuo, but i think it was pretty high; maybe 300-400 per reg. i think 50 would be way too low. making people run around is one thing, but i wouldn't want people to run around forever to get regs from training alch/insc
and for the part you quoted me on, that was referring to the gold limit you suggested

Heh I remember on INR people had scripts setup to hit up the npcs as soon as they reset. So if you are going to put a cap on them, may I suggest a random restock timer as well to prevent people whoring things anyway.

prio 1, get the shard up and running
prio 2, fix all the "new" buggs player will report! after launch
people should not be able to have such macros and gain shitloads of cash right now anyway o.O, since several staff members have tested this.
i myself have looked over many of the vendors scripts such as alch, mage, tailor, carp,bs,scribe etc etc only to see that the sell prices are fairly ok. i have lowered alot of sell values aswell, such as the sell value on wool, hides, etc.
its a nice idea tough, but people will have to travel to buy things anyway sicne there are a max stock on reagents etc on the vendors.

I don't think anybody even mentioned anything about a bug or "abusing the economy to gain shitloads of cash", but I guess it's a good thing you mentioned it. Like Odium said - staffmembers will do all in their power to make pretty sure that this can not be done, because once the economy is ****ed it's not coming back, so we don't want that to happen.
About the issue that was discussed though I'd like to mention that:
If we would use the idea of vendors only being able to buy for an specific amount of money, and only GAIN money if people actually buy stuff from them, then there's plenty of vendors who would sit there without any cash at all. For example - jewelers. Who does ever buy jewels? People just get them from monsters and sell them to jewelers, and if we'd have this cap then the jewel guy would all the time say "I can't afford to buy your stuff.. sorry..", and that'd suck in my opinion, I played at shard where it was like that, no fun. Everybody at the shard rushed to the vendor as soon as there was a worldsave or whatever, because that was usually when it restocked, but hardly anybody got their stuff sold, and most people had almost all their jewels (worth lots of cash) in their bank. I think that since we split the money you get from monsters i jewels and cash, then I think people would be able to get those jewels sold just by moving their ass to the jewel vendor with them ;p
However when it comes to other vendors that people actually DO buy stuff from, then I guess it could be an fairly good idea. However then the vendors would have to have fairly much cash on them, because people almost always (from all vendors) sell more than they buy.

Hate
I think that the default RunUO restock is on shard save, but we also got it on vendor respawn. I can't remember if I ever changed it to random, but like someone said, it should be. I also like the idea to limit the amount of items a player can sell to a vendor, it doesn't have that many cons.

The Jewlers would still gave say 5000gp on them... but they wouldnt go any higher then that unless someone bought something. We arent saying all venders have
NOTHING until someone buys something, we are saying they have a small amount unless someone buys stuff from them.

here's an example of what i originally intended. maybe some people got a bit confused in the discussions so hopefull this will help...
time: 1pm
vendor gold: 5k (default amount for this type of vendor, say jeweler)
time: 1:15pm
i buy 10 items at 25 gp each (250gp)
vendor gold: 5250
time: 1:20pm
hate sells 10 items at 50 gp each (500gp)
vendor gold: 4750
time: 1:30pm
maka sells 100 items at 40 gp
vendor gold: 750
time: 1:40pm
i sell 4 items worth 250gp each
vendor gold: -250 //therefore he will only buy 3 of my items and tell me he can't afford to buy the last one. then he asks if i still wish to sell or if i want to keep my 4 items.
time: 1:45pm
vendor gold jumps back to 5k and he/she can buy more items.
Thanks,
GM Pande

maaan if anyone has ever played any Elder Scrolls games, you know this shit is a pain in the god damn ass. Do we really NEED to do this here? It really sucks when you have your items and you can liquify it into money cuz people are standing around vendors all day waiting for them to respawn. waddabout the noobs who live in minoc and never leave? lol
