The Branding of Horacio
#1

--Translated from Dhemohn'ka to English through Babelfish--------- :p JK

---------------------------

Six years have passed since I left the [Daemon] Armies, which had begun to infiltrate Britannia. I had been asked to become a member of the Elder Council Guard. Being given the responsibility to protect and serve some of the wisest and eldest Daemons was something to be truly proud of.

I had spent the past five years protecting the Great Four. Vin’Rhaal, King of Daemons heads the Great Four. Khal’Mak, Arcane Master, Mir’Qal, Battle Master, and Vin’Rhel, Prince of Daemons complete the Council. Khal’Mak and Mir’Qal are true Masters and deserve to be there. Vin’Rhel is there simply because his father is King.

Over the years Mir’Qal and Khal’Mak had shown and taught me a lot, for we stood guard for them most of the day. The only threat was some of the mindless creatures which we shared the Underworld with. The humans could never make it down this deep…Or so we thought. It was almost one year ago when I found myself and fellow Brethren Vel’Nek stood guard when we saw torches coming in the distance of the caves. “Hora’Zheo! Humans! Alert! Kill the humans!” Vel’Nek yelled to me. We had waited for this day. It's time to test the Flame trap. I dusted off an ancient symbol against a pillar and held my palm against it. It began to glow. The trap had been set.
“Vel’NeK…wait and see. Do not attack.”
A loud voice boasted from behind me. It was the Prince, Vin’Rhel. “What is the meaning of this?? Attack them at once!” He growled at me.
“They are already dead” I muttered back as we watched from the darkened cave. “It is not safe for you here Prince, return to the Council Chambers.” I told him. “No, if you are so confident I will watch” he replied.

As they inched closer to the caves main hall, the same symbol from the pillar began emanating on the floor beneath the humans.
“What the H-“screamed one of the humans as bright pillars of fire began to fill the path. I had missed that sound. The sound of death. Don’t hear much of that unless you’re on the front line of battle.
“What was that?” asked Vel’NeK. “Ehehe…Human mechanics mixed with Daemonic Magic. Khal’Mak and I had been working on that for awhile now to create the ultimate trap.

As I was explaining the details to Vel’NeK, the unexpected happened. A human ran out of the flames towards Vel’NeK. He seemed to have some sort of magic shielding around him which was now fading. Vel’NeK had no chance. By the time I saw him, he already had his sword buried through his chest. I growled in fury as I flew towards the human and grabbed him by his head and ripped off his sword wielding arm. He cried out in pain and began begging for mercy. “Kill him now Hora’Zheo! NOW!” Yelled the prince. I spoke in English to the human “How did you find us?? No human has ever been here before! Tell me and perhaps I’ll spare you!” With his one arm, he slowly pointed his finger in the direction of the Prince. “H-he told us the location! He promised peace with Man if we killed the King!”
“Gwahhh” I yelled as I ripped off the humans head and turned to the prince. “He is lying Hora’Zheo, I...I would not do that” Vin’Rhel muttered without confidence. I slowly walked towards him, so angry and betrayed by this. I grabbed his arm. “My Father is a fool! I must be King! I cannot wait. Help me kill him and I promise you a place by my side” Those were the last words I remember for a few minutes. The next thing I knew, I was laying on the ground of the cave, with a Daemon heart in my hand. I looked down…The Prince…what had I done? I had no evidence of his crime. I went berserk with rage. His chest was ripped open; his insides were all over the floor, and all over my hands.
“What is this???” I hear from behind. The Council….The King…it was all over for me. I explained it all to him. He did not want to hear it.
“You, Hora’Zheo do not even deserve death. You deserve a much worse fate. You shall be branded a traitor, and exiled from our Land. All Daemons shall see you for what you have done.” King Vin’Rhaal bellowed.

The Traitors brand is not a small marking. It is a charring. The worst pain one could imagine, followed by a lifetime of solitude and shame. “Take him to the Branding Pit and scorch him…as a Traitor!” commanded the King to servant guard.

I was thrown into a cage over a large pit. Without warning, the pit burst upward in flames. That fire was hell itself. Daemons are quite immune to flame, but that pain was something new all together. The Greenish-Blue flame spread all around me. The iron-clad cage turned as red as blood. I screamed in agony, until I could take no more. I passed out.

Darkness...

I woke up to water drops. I opened my eyes. Rain? Where am I? As I gazed around the terrain while my eyes adjust to the light, things began to look familiar. Grass, trees, ponds….Disgusting. The land of Humans…Britannia. That leads me to present day, the story runs through my mind a million times per second. I killed the traitor, yet here I am with the branding. My charred body steams in the rain, cooling off. This branding has left my skin burnt and black, disfigured and scarred…all alone, with no one to call brethren. What happens next is beyond me. I have spent the past year wandering the land. Sleeping in a different cave every night. Killing those who wish death upon me. I still am not fond of humans, but I do not go out of my way to kill them any longer. That cause seems long dead to me. I am alone in this world, and I wonder, who will accept me?

-----------------------

[ooc]I still want to roleplay a Daemon, however I do not think I will go the guild route. I wish for my skin colour to be Black Rock Hue(hence my burnt body).I also hope I can have a daemon skull as those in [Daemon] have, however the same hue as my skin, black rock. [ooc/]

The Reapers have your back. You and small group of Daemons released us from our pitch black prison underground, so we are eternally greatful.

*You see Lindenwood punch his chest and nod at you sincerely*

Hello Horacio, I am certain that you do not know me, and will give a breif introduction.

I am Don Tazione from the province of Ita, a 14 month journey from this land Britania. I have come here seaking the aid of the men of this country to aid me in reclaiming my kingdom that has been conquered by mighty beasts. If I see that this deepest desire of mine is not possible, then I will dedicate myself to protecting this kingdom from the beasts that attacked mine.

In Ita, I hold a position equivalent to that of your Daemon King. I however, believe that the fate of one person should not be decided by only one other. That one person has a right to explain what happened to a council responsible for judging one's innocence. In Ita, you would of had a chance to explain yourself.

Aid me to reclaim my kingdom, and one day I will see that your story is heard. One day, with my aid, YOU may become the Daemon King.

It is good to know the Reapers are around. You shall always have my aid in combat if needed. *Salutes back*

Don Tazione...You are a human. Although I have been shunned from my people, I still have no wish to involve myself with human affairs. I still do not like humans, and hope someday to see them exterminated. Your province, Ita....eheheh I am glad it has been conquered by a beast other than the Daemons...One less place for them to take over. My story was heard. The King chose not to hear it. I must accept my punishment.

Vin'Rhaal, King of the Daemons surely by now has reached the minds of the Daemon armies in Britannia. I am unsure what their orders are to do with me. Perhaps Tabion, Lord of the Daemon armies can shed some light on that. I must watch my back everywhere I turn. Damn humans seem to want my head as a trophy. I truly hope I do not have to worry about my former brethren hunting me down as well.

I am sure your opinion of humans is that we are a weak and pitiful race. However I believe you have not ventured beyond the limits of the realm of Britannia or beyond your underworld, for if you had, you would realize that not all humans are alike.

When I walk through these streets with the merchants looking at me, I can't help but think of how weak they are compared to the men of Ita. If the whole of Britannia were to march against my kingdom, we would not waste a second of our time thinking about their pathetic attempt to wage war against us.

Furthermore, I think you underestimate the threat these monsters pose. They care not wether you are a reaper, vampire, human, or beast. They will rip you apart limb by limb and pick their teeth with your bones. These monsters know no fear.

Finally, I must add that if your story was heard, but the King chose not to hear it, then it fell on deaf ears, and you have the right to explain yourself to your people least of all.

*a young man is sitting under a tree of the Moonglow woods, fletching a crude looking bow when his nose suddenly twitches*

*Sniff-sniff*
What is this...?
*Sniff-sniff*
Either I forgot some sulfurous ash in me backpack...

...or maybe...?

...

Bah. Nevermind...

*the man innocently continues to manufacture his hunting bow*

Tazione...What do you think of when you see a small ant crawling on the floor? It is inferior to humans. Regardless of the type of ant it is. An ant is an ant, and a human is a human. I know not of beasts other than great Dragons and Ancient Wyrms that may pose any threats to Daemons. It is of no matter to me. Let Vin'Rhaal deal with it. Furthermore, human politics and Daemon politics differ substancially. My people won't hear me out. For their minds are connected to the mind of the King. What he thinks our people think. Perhaps I've said too much on that subject.

Hrm..perhaps the humans have been tracking me through my smell. I have already had to destroy a party of 3 men with 2 dogs this week. I just want to be left alone. I have never known a Daemon to bathe, but I suppose there has to be a first time for everything.

Foolish human, seeking help from Daemons... He truly must not be from our lands.
How typical of a human to think some of them are different than others. You are all the same worthless and pathetic humans, no matter your size, color or where you come from. How foolish you can be, to decide that some of you are different just by such things. It always begins like this and ends in wars between yourselves.
Even when we outcast our own kind we know them to still be Daemon. We are all the same and we don't try to seperate ourselves with greedy and selfish purposes.
As for you Horacio, I care not what has happened to you, nor do I care about the kings idiotic son. He was a fool and I would have done him in myself if I had the chance, of course I wouldn't have been caught doing it, hahah. I do not wish to take interest in some meaningless fight between Daemons, all I care about is the death of humankind. No matter if you slayed the king as well, it would not matter, you are now on the surface with me and you know you cannot fight the urge to mutilate these pesky beings for long. You can play it out as a self defense, you can act like you just want to hide, but we know that isn't the whole story. I know you enjoy it, you can't hide it...
You may be marked but you will here no words come from me about it, I will always consider you and any Daemon an ally.

As for you Tazione, you will see no help from my people. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't for the overwhelming population of humans already here, I would single you out myself. The last thing I want to see is more humans coming to these lands, just be grateful I have a list of others to deal with before it is your turn. Lets just hope those beasts save some of your people for me, once I am through here that is, hahaha.
I do wonder though, what these beasts are and if they are even that... many times I have been labeled a beast myself. If they are destroying humans I have no quarrel with them, if they touch a single Daemon though, there will be hell to pay.
The only beasts I could think of with such a taste for killing are... well it doesn't matter, that race has long since been destroyed...

Horacio, the difference between the people of Ita and an ant, is that an ant can not weild a sword and slice their opponent's head cleanly from their shoulders. I tell you I have done this to those who stand against me more times then I can count.

Tabion, would you not say a merchant is different from a warrior? That a man is different from a woman? When I look at those lining the streets of Britannia I see merchants. In Ita we are warriors. The quarrells between the people of Britannia and the Daemons do not concern me for I was not here when these troubles started.

The people of Ita lived in peace. There were no quarrells between the men of Ita. This peace was only disturbed by outsiders wishing to ruin our way of life.

I think it is you in your ignorance who holds onto grudges of old. You do not know the beasts that arrived in Ita, yet you are quick to dismiss them as a threat towards you and your people. Furthermore, you wish they continue to reak devastation on humans. Who do you think they will look to next when there are no humans to stand against them? These are not mere beasts like those in this land. They are beasts of ancient legends. There have been no sightings of them for thousands of years in Ita. And now... Suddenly they outnumber us 6 to 1. It is as if they appeared out of the shadows.

I give you two choices Tabion; you can either benefit from an alliance with me, or stand aside and allow me to carry out my mission.

If you chose to pit yourself against me, then I have no reason to stand here and suffer your taunts and insults. I offer you, and any others that may wish to, one last chance to aid me. If none will help me, then I will undertake this task on my own. It will only be a matter of time until I unlock the secrets of this land. Surely the beasts will think twice before they decide to come after the master of two lands.

I think that Horacio was trying to say that humans, no matter what path they follow, are meaningless. Your kind has always been insignificant to us and many other beings of this world. You are still the same as insects, no matter how you chose to describe it... Ants have workers and leaders and fighers, it is no different.
Do not come to me with choices, for the only choice I concern myself with these days is which limb to rip from a humans body first. I will never aide a human, though I would be willing to take advantage of humans... Nothing is more fun than helping humans slay their own just to slay them as well, ha, good times.
Just to make you aware of what you are up against here, in our lands, I will let you know that many races despise you humans. No matter where you come from or how you think that you may be different, you are meaningless. Nothing more than a pesky fly, buzzing around, stinking up the area. Some of us can't stand your stench, some of us consider humans a source of food, but one thing I can say is, you were probably better off in your own lands.

Tabion, I am glad to know I have not made an enemy of the Daemon armies, for that is a force I surely would not want to fight with. It is delightful to hear my branding does not offend you, as it does most Daemons. Just the other day while resting in Dastard, I had an encounter with a Daemon. He looked at me in disgust and shame. He did not even acknowledge my presence For a moment I felt almost sad, but then I realized we should not be feeling those weak human emotions and I moved on. This branding I fear, has done even more mental damage to me than physical. You have helped me today by sharing your thoughts. Thank you be'nI.

As for you Tazione, I am surprised you are still asking us for your help. There may be humans out there who are willing to help, but now that you are in Britannia you have other creatures to worry about. Do not worry, as there are countless ants in their mounds, there are as well countless humans for you to beg for help. You shall all be but a story we tell our children about one day anyhow. Actually....I doubt I will tell my children about humans...not worth it.

Tabion, I am saddened to see you hold onto grudges of old. If you must, then have it your way... When we meet we will see who is the first to lose a limb.

Horacio, in the few weeks I have spent travelling this land, I have yet to meet a worthy foe for my sword. You both continue to underestimate the seriousness of these beasts. For this, I laugh at your continued ignorance.
