Roleplaying, comments and observations
#61

Me and Taran has been speaking a little and I came up with some (according to meTongue) brilliant ideas. I'll post it as soon as I have enough time to explain my idea.

Maka, I don't think isolating all the PvPers in green acres is a good idea Wink

i hope you know you just admitted XUO players will eat you all up Smile

i don't think they'll mind lol Smile

yet again i find myself agreeing with skorpion, he knows what he is saying. RP players will have to lower their standards a bit considering that half this community has never RPed before. and XUO players will have to calm down on the insulting a bit.

asking someone to say "you are a bad fighter" instead of "you suck at fighting" is a little demanding and rediculous. you can NOT control what other people will say.

you guys are talking about all the challenges RPers will have to face beause of the people who will talk trash to them. what about the challenges other players will have to face dealing with RPers? just like how you don't want to see someone say to you "you suck at fighting" maybe people don't want to see "Hello Sir, how art thou this fine evening" in a PvPer's mind this is just asking to be killed.

Veno, if someone saying "You suck at fighting" is going to upset you, you really have to step back a little. I would hope someone would say it that well to you. You're going to have to lower your standards a little bit because you'll probably have to tolerate more than "You suck at fighting".

RP all you wish but you'll have to find a way to explain events because events were alot of fun, simply put they are just a good time. Personally I don't think you can ask the staff to make sure you aren't fighting alongside enemies and such things when you're at an event. Assume it is a task set forth by the Gods and you and your enemies must set aside differences for a short while for divine goals are higher than your human squabbles. I think there are certain times its safe to simply just have a good time OOC. Perhaps not everyone sees it that way. Either way you have to realize this is a PvP and RP shard, you can't expect it to be the same as an RP only shard.

All I'm saying is that if you want the PvPers to make an effort not to ruin your RP, you'll have to compromise a bit and learn to tolerate them as well.

I just used the sentence to make a point. That particular one isnt bad i just couldnt come up with something better while i was typing :p I needed something that was on the line between taunting/harassment.

About the events: You may have misunderstood me. I love all events! My point was that roleplay events have to make sense in a particular way to call them that. Cant say that battlechess is rp'ish imo. Maybe its just me but the way i think of rp events is quests or monster attacks on towns or something like that.
Tourneys are prolly the least rp'ish i can think of but i like to watch them anyway. I sucked to much to bother joining them usually but i still came to show my support and because they are a good chance to meet other players without being in a normal situation like at a bank/hangout. They are open ooc events for me where few if any stay ic. Like you said, they are just good fun without the hazzle.

Im not trying to make this a forced rp shard even though it may seem like it. I made this thread because i had questions and because i wanted all players who hang at the forums to notice and maybe adopt the IN way of rp.
Which is casual and relaxed where people do what they want when they want but still respect all players enough to not ruin their way of having fun.

We had our share of idiots on IN and we dealed with them there. We will do the same here Big Grin

Isn't harassment subjective? I remember on IN it was more like: page if you feel you're being harassed, then the harasser will get a warning. If they don't stop, they'll get jailtime. This way, people who want to settle things with sharp words and fights (things usually seem to go this way) can, and those that don't want to be a part of that can demand (and receive) their respect.

Thats the way we had it on XUO and thats the way we will have it, but there is still some problems. XUOs way of taunting people differs a little from INs way. We still need to have some basic rules so that people that are watching wont get offended, even if it's not directed at them.

haha i hope it involves you attacking without warning or else that wont work very well. haha i can picture osmeone getting offended and say "Defend youself scum!" and then they are dead cause the XUO player already attacked lol

You completely misunderstand INs form of RP.

As far as pvp goes, rp took place in sense that order tended to act orderly, chaos tended to act evil, and neutral did... whatever neutral RPers did. Order and Chaos/PK people were expected to attack eachother on sight.

RP, in its most basic definition as per IN, was refraining from acting "leet". That's all.
It was only more complicated when players wanted fancy skin/items.

Yankovic - "... Oh Nasir, sorry, you are teh greatest. I'm a fool, you were right all the time. please forgive me. ..." (possibly out of context)

Well, I like RPish, good stuff, but, I see RP in a different way, like does this SERVER 'REQUIRE' you say stuff like this, BEFORE<--- Keyword, you actually fight, like, "Your eyes creep me, prepare to taste my Llama"!! or "Your shiny armor, requires a new master" or "Halt, the pope wishes to smoke"

Or does your RP mean, Thou ought wish thee ride to sell meh? I'll art bid on thee skull of though slayert" , My language me and my buds spoke of is this, Vlarronani Azzeratan Slanderized Kablango, Enderaze, tun jeet kun

Language is called Azunkikeen, I was browsing forums, i see others have some as well, cool fish!

This is our old language, New one different, but I said "We shall Kill All. Everyone, and loot them"

I usually say roleplaying is so much more than just simple words. You don't have to go hail to thee etc. to roleplay well.
It's hard to explain it, but if you're a roleplayer by heart you will know what I'm talking about. If not there's a really good guide on our website that explains roleplaying.

Ahh ok, yeah I'd say fear not, there are definitely separate events that are more RP oriented as opposed to those events which are just for the fun of it (Capture the Flag, Chess, Cleaver Mania, etc).

Please read http://www.in-x.org/forums/showthread.php?t=922 and let me know what you think guys. It's my idea about an RP town, to hopefully enhance the essence of the game.
