Item Stones

smoke Wrote:im not saying im not flawed, i'm just saying you don't know how to let a suggestion thread die

Why is it me that doesn't know how to let it die? There are plenty of people who agree with my ideas and even attempt to improve on them. Unlike you, which all you do is quickly slander the person and their idea then tell them to stop whining and tell em to **** off. That solves nothing. I saw you whining your ass off like a tit the other day when Iguana beat you fair and square in a ****in autosupply duel, maybe the issue isnt with me maybe its the fact you have a superiority complex and have to constantly put people down or blame them to make yourself feel authorative to compensate for some "flaw" you might have. Either way, **** off.

How about reducing weight of reagents for a little bit? And honestly, I always carry 200+ manas(preferable) at duel arena, 200+ regs(not all, but GA, GI, MR, SS, these are most used ones, since we need them for Heal and Greater Heal) Scrolls , well you don't need 150 each fs for a duel, preferable amount for me is 50 each fs , 60lights, 50 GH, 20reflects. And like 10heal potions(I don't use them often, I prefer GH scroll over it) I like to carry alot of supplies, since I hate counting manas... Example: "Ohh I have only 30manas left! So I won't dump right now, I'll wait for my best chance". Usually I always die when I start doing that.
And really if you get all these scrolls and regs I mentioned + full armor and bardiche + some eyes incase you run outta manas in duel stone + some empty bottles , smith hammer to repair weapon and some other stuff your weight is about 400... and you can use alot of reagents, trust me. Especially if you cast In Mani often... I had to re-buy reagents of stone alot of times, even tho I always trying to get as much supplies as possible, and restock everytime I get below 150each of those reagents, since my spam doesn't allow me to ask for supplies in the middle of duel.
And yea, like 90% of PvPers will hand you reagents if you ran outta them, unless they hate you personally, of courseSmile

So what do you think about reducing weight of reagents? Then noone will suffer... we'll still be able to restock between duels..

Oh and I don't like the idea of removing duel stones, come on it became ANY active just couple weeks ago, let us enjoy it. Still the duels aren't happening there 24/7, people gank alot more frequently, so I don't see a harm in this...
#63

this is what happens when we use an activity it goes away just like mining >.<

duel stones is a free thing that people do and waste their own money and time to do it why would you ever remove it or the reg stones lol

but yeah reducing regs would be good but i will never agree to removing reg stone

Shade Wrote:This is a pro. Too many people just keep their things banked for ever and this would add a much needed risk, granted it wouldn't be much of a risk but risk is truly needed. Players are too babied here and this is proof of it.

You'll notice I said that's part of the game. I never said this is a bad thing, I said it's not fun when they could have just as easily bought regs from a stone that's been there for so long and is suddenly public enemy number one.

Shade Wrote:OMGZ! you mean like how people used to play UO?!?! Thats ridiculous!!! You know what, lets add scroll stones and pot stones too so this doesn't ever happen!

What about a stone that spams "overly sarcastic people can kiss my ass?" on everyone's screen when someone double clicks it? A reg stone doesn't make skills useless, giving pot and scroll stones does kill the point of having inscription and alchemy. A reg stone doesn't take jobs away from lots of players, adding pot and scroll stones would.

Shade Wrote:to be fully prepared for a single duel that may last 10 minutes, you are talking about 280-340 stones. I don't know why anyone would ever carry anywhere near 500 of each reg on them lol. Dueling for a few minutes with 100 of each reg will leave you with 40-60 of each anyway. Normally people run out of pots or scrolls when at the duel stones and need to restock them more frequently. Granted I am just going by what I see people say when they are dueling there...

You're right, usually a duel does only last a few minutes. But for the times when you have a good duel going for longer, you will run out of supplies carrying only 100 on you. Granted, I'm just going by what some of the best pvpers on the shard and personal friends I've known nearly my whole life tell me.

Epistemology Wrote:Thats lame of you to say the vendor area won't work because people would abuse it. Like anything that gets implemented into a shard it would have to be regulated of course, but thats not my point about the vendor area. All I hear from the people that don't like this idea is in previous post how everything is carebear and this isnt a carebear shard, yet they need to have 4 reg stones in the dueling arena and they dont want to have to leave to go get regs for fear of losing items?

I'm not saying this is what I predict will happen or this is what I think will happen based on some random intuition, it's a fact given that it happened on this very shard the last time a vendor area was the way you said.

By the way, there are only 3 reg stones in the *present* duel arena, no bolt or arrow stones since not many people duel with bows and crossbows. And you should also notice that there's at least one arena you cant see them from, and one or two where you can barely see them. I'm sure it was more of an oversight by the person who made this area then it was intentional, none the less it rather defeats the point of having them if you cant use it when it's there to be used.

Epistemology Wrote:Bottom Line, reg stones do more harm then good. The only pro to a reg stone is so people never have to leave duel area? That seems like a pretty lame one. Fine, don't get rid of em jack up the price though.

I don't see them doing harm. They take money OUT of the server, instead of passing it from one player to another. You want the stones to act as a gold sink, well they act as more of a gold sink then when gold is being traded from one player to another. Do you see the people using duel stones complaining about them? No you don't. On the contrary, it's someone who says they're not new, but is new, but is maybe somewhere in between the two that is complaining about them.

I think some people agreed a while back they're ok with raising the price but don't like the idea of getting rid of them.

Quote:I'm not the only one that likes this idea Eighty.

I never said you were, but I am saying that those who use the duel stones regularly, like having them there and I don't see why some people are so persistent on taking them away from the players who use them. You don't see me saying to get rid of the forges in towns because I don't use them and people should have to make their own or buy them from one of the few players with the skills to make them since they're too convenient to be given to you to craft armor and weapons.

Epistemology Wrote:And to as me "hiding" behind a new name I never said I am some old school god of IN:X reincarnate in disguise to pick on you. I am a veteran player who has played lots of UO, been on several successful shards and several not successful and I am trying to help by mentioning things that I have noticed cripple other shards full of good people.

I never incited that you were an IN:X god. A few posts back I made a comment about how people new to IN:X try to change things. You replied that you're not new, so I concluded you are a player who has been here for some time but are using a secret character with a new forum name, as if hoping people won't be biased towards your suggestions based on them liking you or not. If you're not new to UO, but are new to IN:X, then you proved my earlier point exactly as I meant it to be taken.

Epistemology Wrote:Picking on you Eighty? The thing that ticked me off was when you said "Pfft I'm glad your the one gonna be going around wasting your time buying regs and selling em" As if I am some retarded child trying to eat ice cream with a fork.

First, I never said you're a retard but if that's how you want to think about yourself, then by all means go ahead and do so. Second, I never said you picked on me I said you swear and call people names when things don't go your way.

Epistemology Wrote:And just because your posts are really long doesn't mean you got any kind of a point across.

Haha you misunderstood what I wrote that for. People say I write ridiculously wrong posts a lot of the time so I put that in there just for them. I didn't put it there to say look at me, I can write a long post so I must be right.

Now if you failed to see a single point that I raised in my post, (whether you agree with them or not), I'm still communicating a point, none of which you addressed, rather you defered to personal attacks and defenses. You're still not helping me or other people who are against this idea agree with you.

Epistemology Wrote:Who the **** did I call names? All I do is start discussions I then get hit up with stuff like "Idiot" "INXERR!?!" "Loser" all kinds of shit. If your refering to something where I made fun of smoke, look at all my posts in the past 3 weeks, he is there talking shit, its kind of our thing.

It's not a serious insult and I laughed when I saw it more then I got insulted, but you said "your a tar-tar", and throughout this thread, and in particular in some responses to me when I made no offensive statements, you replied with expletives.

its funny how my opinions aren't my opinions u guys r fking ridculous, jumping on bandwagon? wtf u smoking, seriously these are my thoughts about this idea. Just because I don't agree with u doesn't mean im jumping on a bandwagon fool.

npc's sell regs (why the hell would ppl buy reg packs from vendors?), u still have to go ot the vendor area to get them so u might as well just visit the npc then, as stated before the stones are there for quick access after u die in a gank, the duel areans where some duels go on for awhile (90% of the ppl posting here don't even go there anyways) and for reg tourneys when u run out.

if u don't use them then leave them be for the people who actually do use them

i'm going to pull a fast one here like the others did with me with the 1k duel stone

IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T USE IT?

Yeah... that doesn't really work with this topic. The issue with the duel stones was trying to make PvP a little more profitable when they are used. Of course you still have the choice of boycotting the duel stones area and just PvP in the world to get moneys or of course just simply refuse to duel in lower cost stones. It wasn't taking away from your options, it just seemed like some of you thought it was one option too many.

This issue is about an option of play style being prevented due to an unnecessary item. Of course people don't have to use it but when there is barely any markup and its extremely convenient, most people will use it. This in turn prevents players from becoming merchants of the goods the stone sells.

Just my experience but when players have the power to handle the economy themselves, it tends to stay stable with less effort. On a shard that is both pvp and rp these types of things are important and quite frankly should have been taken into consideration from day one. If players need to rely on each other for supplies more often it will help build a stronger community. This is just one of those little steps that adds to that.

I understand that people are lazy and want the reg stone, I get it. Though lets look at this rationally, only a fool needs a reg stone to pvp normally. People fought fine before such things existed and would do so here without it.

Oh and please don't lie and say that it would alter the pvp, as I find that rather insulting to all the work maka put into it. To claim that removal of a stupid stone would undo the very balance of the pvp world is just absurd.

Again, the stone will not likely be removed but an increase in the cost is a good idea for several reasons and since nobody has complained about a small hike in the cost or a reason not to do so we will probably take that approach to get a feel for how the population handles it.

Shade why the heck do we need to buy regs from npcs please explain to me will it make a difference if i can run to ocllo and buy them? this just allows me to buy them while im dueling incase i dont have supplys before entering a duel or if i ever run out.

You can't remove the stones because pvpers duel each other for items or money which you use supplys and many pvers run out of resources often depending on skill level.

Removing the reg stone is like removing all bankers to a different location and making them have to take a risk to bank, theres no logical reason as to why you would need to remove the stone because the money goes to the same place lol expect the reg stone is more expensive than normal regs.

Also your really talking about how players shouldn't be able to depend on them selves? Where was this in the summer when we had to make fun by our selves? If we have the money to buy an expensive bag of regs why not lol? It's not like it's costing you anything I hunted for my money and I can use it on the reg stone where regs are more expensive and it's going to the same place as the money of the npc is going *into the shard*

The reason why it will effect the PvP is it's something we rely on while dueling we know it's there. All these resources they weigh a lot and you will always need regs when dueling and it's never going to change. Removing regs from places like pits/tours/duel stones is like removing logs when lumbjerakcing on a tree..

The reg stone is for players and to make their lives easier but it is still costly, just like stackable items it's easier and makes the players life easier. You don't see me posting about kegs being useless now that manas/gh pots can be stackable so why even bother making kegs anymore?

Raise the price I don't care but you shouldn't remove it

kegs have no uses anymore stackable pots can hold huge amounts of pots, and you still pay for the bottle to make the mana pot so it costs extra to buy kegs for your mana pots if you think about it
