Result: in order to RP, avoid Britain and Minoc. Try going to Yew, Moonglow or any other of the rarely visited places and hope you can find quest thingies. Call some of your friends if they want to role play too.

I prefer Cove and Jhelom. Cove is such a lovely little town and Jhelom is huge and strangely confusing no matter how many times you go there haha

Oh and Skaare Brae is also nice.

Haha, I know exactly what you mean about Jhelom. I've never learned that city well. I love Nu'jelm myself. It has history for me.

Hehe back in the old days it was NS and PoD, before TRU moved in. It was alot quieter then, beautiful city. Like when the palace was public. It's got the chessboard too, lots of nice statics.

I was the mayor of Skaare Brae for awhile on In1.. no one lived there , we almost built a trading caravan with a gms help.. but it got to complicated.

I just really hope that the immature players so harshly outnumber the rpers that it chases us all away. Sure I had to deal with idiots everytime I rp'd, but seriously if there are 15 rpers and 60 ignorant kids running around causing rpers nothing but headaches, well what do you think is going to happen? The thing that made it work on in1, at least how I see it, is that we all had respect and we all cared about the shard. We weren't a bunch of idiots running around talking "leet" because we thought it made us look cool, we actually wanted the shard to grow and have a mature enviroment while still having fun. It wasn't a simple balance for some, but most of us loved it to death and wouldn't have ever changed it.
I just see so many hardships ahead for rpers but I don't want us to give up. I just beg that the staff keeps us all in mind when adding features and such as to where we will not have to alter our rp or change our stories.
Anyway, I just hope that some things are set in stone to give a general idea for the non-rpers as to what they can and cant say and do. Obviously you cant cover it all, and we will all have to have some tollerance, but at least give us that! afterall, we already have to work around spamming, well at least I have to, because my character wouldnt dare use such a tactic that the worthless humans created to compinsate for their weaknesses.
Maybe I am hoping for too much, but I would really hate to see all the rpers split because they cannot enjoy rping here.
and i swear im gonna beat the first person who says "omg redskin!!11! dood hows u get that sheet?!?!" this is the kind of crap that makes it such a pain. I know im repeating myself but I hope its kept in mind that we are all here to have fun and rping shouldnt have to be work for us. There just needs to be something said about rp that will ease up the bs we will have to deal with.
Im pretty tired and am not thinking clearly but I hope I got my point across without being a jerk about it.

I sure am glad to see the interest in this topic though, I hope we can all bring back a great rp enviroment while others show that the shard will have a straight out pvp side too. Hopefully we wont be fueding too much and can work together, no matter where we came from, to help the shard in certain ways.

Thats why im kind of pressing for some specific guidelines on what type of behaviour will be allowed.

Example:
Rules say that swearing is not harassment. But what if a guy comes up to me and says "You suck at fighting" ? It would not be against the rules as such but the wording certainly discourages rp. Refrasing it to "You are a bad fighter" would get the same message over but still leave it open in a rp sense. It would be possible for me to stay in character and respond to this person with a sentence that fits my characters style.

This is just an example and im sure someone will say to just ignore it but that isnt always possible. You cant maintain your own rp when no one around you does it with you.

EG, I think it would be fun with a battle chess (such as the harry potter one) in Nujel'm, but frankly, I have no clue if it will enhance or ruin RP for you guys... Would be nice with a committee for those kind of things.

And there will be fixed rules for certain time of player interaction (bad mouthing for one). We will allow certain types of bad mouthing (taunting), but we will also make sure that it doesn't cross the line to harassment and that it will interfere with peoples RP as little as possible. I have to ask though, was there no one that said "You suck at fighting" at IN1 to a RPer? To me, from the top of my head, doesn't seem like a big thing. That might be cause I'm not into it though, and do not entirely know how it feels when you try to RP and people come up like that to you.

We are trying to come up with something that will fit everyone as much as possible, but still keep the freedom for people to choose how they want to speak and interact. It is nothing we take lightly on.

I like the idea of a commitee for rp and pvp. Should prolly be named Council for us rp'ers though :p
It might bring some good ideas together so i like it.

Battlechess could be an event but it shouldnt be labeled as a rp event because what if you end up on the same team as an enemy? And why would you fight as chess pieces instead of going all out regular fighting?
I love all kinds of events but few can be called rp events.

Well yeah people did use that languege on IN1 but only against people who played the game like they did. To my knowledge it was rare that it was said to a full time rp'er who hadnt gone ooc himself. Swearing in general was not allowed if i remember correctly due to the younger players and the fact the server was based in usa(they are carebears :p )

If i may, be sure to have those rules in place before the server opens. It should be there from day one so that everyone will deal with the same ruleset when they start playing.

Veno, if someone saying "You suck at fighting" is going to upset you, you really have to step back a little. I would hope someone would say it that well to you. You're going to have to lower your standards a little bit because you'll probably have to tolerate more than "You suck at fighting".

RP all you wish but you'll have to find a way to explain events because events were alot of fun, simply put they are just a good time. Personally I don't think you can ask the staff to make sure you aren't fighting alongside enemies and such things when you're at an event. Assume it is a task set forth by the Gods and you and your enemies must set aside differences for a short while for divine goals are higher than your human squabbles. I think there are certain times its safe to simply just have a good time OOC. Perhaps not everyone sees it that way. Either way you have to realize this is a PvP and RP shard, you can't expect it to be the same as an RP only shard.

All I'm saying is that if you want the PvPers to make an effort not to ruin your RP, you'll have to compromise a bit and learn to tolerate them as well.
