Well I'm not up on who is more order than who. And besides..Order doesn't mean you have to be nice. You can be a Machiavellian just as easy. And maybe this Ayleth Payne character is a villain. Or maybe the killing of her can be explained away with good propaganda. Hows this....Ayleth Payne kills kittens.
Well I think thats horrible and Illuvator has every right to revenge the death of ultima online kittens.

You killed me because you where acting like a jerk for no reason and told a bunch of newbs to quit the shard cos it would be dead in two weeks, then proceed to act like a dick because you didn't like my pricing of things. You then acted like a big cry baby and didn't like when I pointed it out and called you one for it. You then proceeded to break the rules and res kill me several times, thus only proving what I called you to be true. Though I fail to see the point in discussing such things, seeing as this is about getting the shard back on track, not pointing out how you have tried to make people leave.

That would work if it was actually true, but that is far from the truth. RP is one thing but totally making something up just to excuse breaking the rules or griefing someone is kind of absurd.

When it comes to think like a narrative about the city it should really come from the players. I'm not saying the staff play no part, but those sorts of things are generally driven by players. On IN1 there was a league of chaos called VDGP which formed on its own, there was a Trinsic council which was formed primarily by players and then later given some nominal authoritative powers by the staff. My point is that generally the players got the ball rolling themselves before staff got involved. The reason for this is that it's not really the place of the staff to tell people what they should be RPing, and even if we wanted to if our ideas don't resonate with enough players then they'll fail anyway. I'm no expert in RP, far from it in fact, I'm more the PvP/scripting/tournaments guy, but well these are my thoughts.
You have to also bear in mind that big decisions like changing the guards of an entire city, giving players authority over a city or giving them special powers etc. are all decisions that really have to come from Taran or from someone Taran has given the authority to do that, I can't do or promise anything myself even if I wanted to.
If I was in your position and wanted to get something going I would buy a big static in the unguarded part of E Brit, I'd call it the Bastion or something, RP it as the sheriff's guardhouse - the last bastion of law and order in the lawless side of E Brit. Try to play it up and encourage PKs to raid you, try to goad them into forcing you out. If the static was near a bridge then it may also encourage other neutral or order players to aid you from the guardlines much like they do at Brit Bridge. If you had some success you could then ask the staff to provide some more incentives for people to fight for control over E Brit, perhaps add some vendors or move some of the casino items to the unguarded town hall in E Brit. It would have to be something people are willing to fight to use or fight for control over, but also not something that will break the game or massively inconvenience new players (e.g. I wouldn't move Jack/Jill to E Brit, etc.).

Looking at server activity recently the most active order PvP guilds are Vae Victis and Metal Knights, I don't know much about either in terms of how strictly order they are or if they get along together, but if I were trying to do the above I would try and get at least one of those guilds on board with the idea. PvPers will come to wherever there are other PvPers to fight. Also support of a big guild is publicity for what you are trying to achieve as well, word spreads and people slowly learn that E Brit is somewhere good to go for either fighting/vendors/whatever.

Oh my godness, you poor, innocent girl.. I (order) am killing you without reason... look how bad I am... Arguing with you is pointelss since you are lil lier. All I can say is that I'll keep killing you until you apologize me for your insulting word while I didnt offend you. You are very nervous, aggressive fat girl in front of monitor pretending innocent RP player. I can kill whoever, whenever I want and you can post your rubbish on forum but I dont think it will change anything.

Metal Knights is not true order either. Ganjo Shiba and sKunk are friends in RL with Avatar. sKunk got his start killing miners. sKunk is the reason for the rule regarding guild looting. He guild looted one of the Doom guilds, and then later he was invited to Legion (because of his friend Avatar) and he eventually looted them. Apparently sKunk was harassed until he became inactive and now he's active again in Metal Knights. He's a red with 18 or so kills. Ganjo Shiba is no better.
Avatar doesn't seem too bad but you can't really trust him much when he associates with sKunk and Ganjo.
It's foolish to believe a guild is "order" simply because their guild name is green on the server status list. Hell, I think Prototype was order a few months ago. There's no way we could have order/chaos RP when guilds are only loyal to guild mates (sometimes not even their own guild mates).
How can you expect to have a healthy RP environment when you have guilds like Bandits whose RP is to act like a dick. "ur ruining my rp"

It's all due to lack of players, and believe me i've saved much just for asking them not to brainless kill someone...
If there were chaos rulling britain, do you think they would waste time on noob dungeon?
Im tired of asking them not to pursuit new people, i often call them cowards irl, but i understand them when they simply awnser me "This is UO"...
This is why i believe only events can save the server, and make orders active on their green thinking, and chaos active on their red thinking...
And that talk about "irl" stuff, i believe its BS, coz IRL u can always find time for anything you want, like most of the people are playing Diablo, but they wouldnt if this server had much more addictive stuff than before...

I'm sorry but no matter how much we put in to the server it won't prevent people trying other video games, UO is 13 years old, D3 is the newest shiniest game around, people will go and play it, what we hope is that they come back afterwards, expecting people not to try it is naive.
Also I'm afraid RL does get in the way, if you're working 9 hours a day including most weekends, have to spend time with your girl and also have other boring things to do (bills, cleaning, shopping etc. etc.) then sometimes you have to say - at this point in my life there is no time for UO - not least of all because even I have other interests... watching Euro 2012, playing tennis, seeing my friends etc.
Sorry if you have a life that means UO is more important, but you shouldn't sacrifice things that are important for UO, UO is there for when you have time for it, that's all it is. Remember, players are players, and staff are also players, they are just volunteers, staffing is not a job and you can't expect people to treat it with that sort of importance, sorry.

There were how many GM's??? at least 4-5 before... now I dont even see one.... it does help the player count. When there are no GM's, people get frustrated because they can't get problems resolved. When they can get them resolved, they get frustrated and quit, when they quit. They quit, the player count goes does.
Again, Not pointed to you, but it helps when GMs are on. You on the forums here is a big plus, I haven't really seen any GM posted for awhile.
Life and other games are a key factor yes, but little things help here and there.
