Well okay, to be clear it is illegal. If people use a script to res/avoid the maze it renders the AFK gathering gump redundant, in which case we are unable to stop players AFK gathering resources which will have a significant impact on the server economy, which in turn will damage the quality of game play for most of the players. We don't just make and enforce rules to be *******s, we're trying to keep things working nicely.

If you are at the computer and checking UO then it's not illegal. But in that case you would never die in the first place since you would pass the AFK gump.
The point is that you knew what you did was illegal. I mean, why else would you make a script to "bypass" both the first AFK check (gump) and then a maze on top of that.
Nothing more to say here really.

I totaly agree with the punishment. So annoying that people will do anything to macro gm mining and not take responsability for their actions.

I honestly agree with harsh punishment for rule breaking. It will only make the shard more populated with those ready the follow the rules...

are you serious? have you see the Population latley?? almost always under 150...and that goes to show with how many people i have seen/heard leaving..and its sad...
and the more and more we "punish" or talk crap to people the more we lose...we def losing more than gaining thats for sure
and i know its common sense to not auto res after afk gump but honestly thats not in the rules other than no afk macroing....and i mean to be honest its almost easier to die and res than to try to read those stupid capa words or w/e..and if your there that doesnt mean your afk...
btw im not supporting him at all i just like to have input from both sides..

I had GM mining before I wrote this script, it started out as a script to avoid being killed by players to one that did that and resed, I just got sick of running the maze when I was testing the res portion. I was macroing tailoring and BS when I was afk.

I completely agree it was one of the reasons why I was aruging with people in game today about people telling people to quit or asking them to leave, then they say "oh he has a choice to leave" yeah well think about it if i called people stupid noobs and they suck at pvp I should tell them to quit and it would be fine because it's their choice to quit or not even though i just took that players items and left him there? I mean I don't think people realize what they're doing. It effects the player base drastically.
Back on topic I've seen taran say hes seen a couple of people and removed their ingots and there mining skills imo a jail for a day or two and a warning would of sufficed enough though instead of what happened and him quitting..

I'm sorry your guild is negatively affected, but we can't exempt people from the rules because they are part of a big collective. The punishment may seem harsh but we can't be sure how long the AFK gathering has been going on, and since we know the player in question has the means to bypass our current maze and res after being killed by the gump the amount of AFK macroing could be quite high. If people could AFK gather huge amounts of resources and then spend just a couple of days in jail a lot of people would think that is a pretty good trade and start doing it...
