Reveal Potion
#13

Taran won't support it. I'm like 99% sure he won't. Many of IN-1 players now just PvM and removing the potion would pretty much mean that shard turning into purely PvP server. I'm not sure if Taran would want this....

I agree. While PvP is and always has been a big part of all the IN shards, it has NEVER been the main focus. IN's main focus has always been its community. Removing the only successful method of escape for players who do NOT wish to participate in PvP but wish to experience the amazing content outside of guards that the current staff, and staff from years and years ago implemented, would cause major problems with a large part of the player base.

There are even PvPers (myself included) whom have times where I would rather PvM with my guild or visit the casino. Invis pots make it possible for me to still enjoy these experiences AND get away if a group of PKs come and crash the party.

Also keep in mind that invis pots cost a great deal and CAN be countered with reveal and detecting hidden. It is in no way a 100% get away.

If you think about it 2k per potion isn't that much if it saves your life 100% of the time, you can even .vote every 12 hours to pay for half a potion

I still dont see why on earth you guys want people to recall away less. The focus of this server is NOT PvP. It is the community. Stop expecting the staff to change core mechanics that have existed for years and years just so you can kill people easier. It is easy as HELL to kill people already! Make reveal scroll macros and detect macros. I mean, people instantly die from a 4+ FS scroll focus fire.

I pvp as does my whole guild. None of us feel the same way about invis pots. Its just a verbal few who seem to have issues with it. The same ones who flood almost EVERY thread with *****ing about PvP because its not how you guys want it. It is getting OLD.

So basically what your telling me is you don't care about the PvP and the reason people are playing on this server is to RP and talk within the community collect money tubs, armors and weapons? PvP is part of the shard weather you like it or not being able to safely get away shouldn't be part of this shard considering staff and players get offended when people call it care bare yet some of these rules really are. So when suggestions are being made to try and help PvPers in a little bit of favor because it is very hard to kill people atm as both staff and players have agreed your against it because you think it's too hard and that's not the main goal of the shard? Pretty sure Taran said himself there should be a risk in hunting and venturing on your own in the wilderness this takes part in that statement.

Smoke, I obviously care about PvP. I am in a PvP guild. I never said PvP isnt an important part of this server. I participate in it often and lose plenty of armor, scrolls, and such. I'm not even close to good at PvP, and I have had no problems killing folks with simple FS scroll spamming, so obviously it isnt a huge problem.

If it got to the point that I could not kill anyone because of invis pots, I would agree 100% with this thread, but it simply isnt the case. Infact, I think I have only had to deal with invis recalling maybe three times max. Invis pots do nothing when you hunt folks down in Destard, which is where most of my PvP takes place.

I'm sure if all you do is pvp at brit bridge then yeah, people are gonna invis and get away. It is an area where it works well. Just hunt for folks in other locations! Besides, there is a thrill PvPing in an area you cant recall out of.

I look at hunting spots as well, it's not about who you can kill or can't though. It's about if the person knows what there doing they'll get away.

I vote for yes!
I always use invis pot and recall when i see a player coming.. it doesnt matter if he's blue or red! But you must see it is overpowered here!!
Going PK has already too many problems like you cant enter towns and all those things everyone is tired to hear and know about, but one more thing like invis pots?!
way too much overpowered! i'd say yeah, make it easy to escape.. but not make it impossible to prevent someone from escaping! there are many ways to "insure" your loot already! i remember old uo days where i would hunt in group to avoid getting killed! and getting killed didnt annoy me at all! here if you die, people are so used to not dieing, that they get so damn pissed off! UO is not the sims... it has its pvp and thats part of the game!
Only chance i see for the invis potion not working right now is if you have the delay from a potion you have just drunk...
So i vote for a solution where you can easily escape.. but not 100% chance to escape!!

I think everyone is just going about this the wrong way.
This potion just needs to be harder to get again not a dime a dozen & not from the bulk order deed guy.
so that by drinking it you would have to have something important on you to be worth clicking such an expensive potion.

I can tell you that as long as you keep magic reflect on and the second (I mean the mila second) another players name appears on your screen you hit your recall button that automatically selects your rune home. you will always get away as long as you are paying attention, I never have problems getting away and I don't use a invis pot why because recall scroll + auto macro = getting away :0 You die because you are to slow and have no reflexes.

You don't need away around everything, this potion should just go back to being more rare and like 5k each... (A hunt able resource only) causing pk's to really want to guard the monster that drops the resource, causing more fun for them and us. See how that works ? stop trying to take stuff out because you don't like it and try to make it more interactive for you, so that you have more places to check for players getting specific items like "Flesh of the Undead"

Just nuke all invis pots / resource & make it rare again. Adding it to the bulk order guy was a mistake and needs some fixing.
The ogre champion should drop it and only him...

I agree that the invis pot is kinda silly being this easy to get but feel that it should stay. (reasoning above ^)

I'm not saying invis potions should be removed, as it's important part of UO and it's adds another PvP dynamic and tactic, but the 100%-get-away - I think shouldn't be possible, and the price of it doesn't really matter.. Might as well implement insurance, whats the diff? Our way it's even cheaper actually ... Kinda reminds me of:

Mito Wrote:What about adding a pot that teleports you into your House? That would be awesome. (You can only use it once a day, so you can't abuse it)

why dont you just make yourself able to cut an explosion pot making it explode. that would work nicely.
#24

Just so everyone know's to stop invis pots make a macro for explosion potions and magic arrow them causing them to fizzle recall.

Go practice it, it works...
