I agree with Shade, it has nothing to do with staff.
What does this have to do with?
-The most obvious reason for a sudden influx in players is of course due to Slaethin's advocacy. Advertising on TDO, telling player stop playing there, and by offering justifications for playing IN-X.
-The fact that Slaethin is playing, servers as an attraction as players are entertained him.
Now, given that this population is increasing, most shards in the past, whenever players suddenly get into a server and the population is at a peak, the Staff tend to ruin it.
1. They start having this feeling of superiority now that they are in power of a larger player base. (DONT DO THIS!!!)
2. As a result of this superiority they (staff) feel that jailing one or two players for little peevish aggravations is justified by the fact that they have 50 other players. The flaw in this logic is that you jail one player and the domino effect occurs, many of these players are intertwined deeply into the server. Ie. You get rid of Slaethin, there goes all the TDO players he brought with him, and all those players who are amused by his false stupidity that he exhibits throughout the game. Bah a better example would be Rabbi. You destroy Rabbi, there goes IN:X economy :/ who to buy the cream of the crop weapons and armor from now? In conclusion, I urge staff to remain as they always have and foster a laizze faire government system in which they try as little as possible to interfere with the playerbase. Too much tourneys is not a good thing! By hosting too much tourneys, those that are kicked out in the beginning feel exluded temporarily and it inhibits the start of ganks!
Ganks create player base as far as im concerned. Ofcourse in the PVP realm they do. Ganks serve as an indicator for player activity, (once again im speaking in PVP terms only, so hunting would be the counter part to this) as a result try not to jail players for even walling or paralyzing or whatever.
A good shard, would really eliminate all possibilites that players have to get jailed. Like fixing bugs that players are able to abuse. By not fixing those bugs, you are basically setting yourself up to fail because players will always act as your generic adolescent 12 year olds. (I am no exception, although my reasoning is quite frankly more sophisticated). So what I'm hinting at is just make parafields unable to be casted in that certain location!
By typing anymore I'm probably decreasing the strength of my argument.
Bottom line: Dont **** it up! (because alot of shards do this) I left TDO because staff started acting retarted and ****y cuz they felt like they could do what they wanted since they had the highest playerbase, just look at them now! Beware of Slaethin's disastrous effects
