I still mine by hand Sad I can never get scripts to work, lol
Sometimes if im lucky i find a basic mining script that walks and mines Big Grin so i dont have to click anything. but typicly done by hand.

soMa : oh the boring task of mining.

I can't imagine mining by hand. Do you mean you double-click the pickaxe (or use a last object macro) and target the ground for every attempt? 0_o

Try this razor macro. It basically spams mining on the tile you're standing on, plus the 8 tiles around you, for 9 total squares.

When a spot is depleted, walk two steps up/down/left/right to have 8 fresh squares OR walk 3 steps North/South/East/West to have 9 fresh squares.

Code:
!Loop
Assistant.Macros.ForAction|7
Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3718|True
Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:01
Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|0|0
Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3718|True
Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:01
Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|0|1

Your pretty defensive about your skill gain shade. I don't really understand the reason for it, we understand you have tested it and done it yourself. But everyones experiences are different in this game and lets face it, half of the game is about the little things (banking, smelting etc). Lots of things can happen while your training your skill that could slow you down. Also not everyone will have the "perfect macro". Instead of telling people straight up that they are wrong because this is the way you did it and if they aren't doing it that way then they are stupid (a bit of an exaggeration but thats the general attitude i feel coming from your posts on the skill gain topic) maybe listen to what they have to say about what they did and why.

We know you don't want to raise the skill gain for things like this because its POSSIBLE to get it done in the time you did it in optimal conditions, but lets say everyone else besides you takes twice the amount of time... It might be worth considering raising it so that the average person could finish it the time you expected where as someone with intimate knowledge of the workings of the game and macros and scripts could get it done a bit faster.

Also, i'm not saying here you should raise it, as i haven't touched mining and i have no intention of doing so. Just trying to say you should let people talk about this kind of thing without becoming defensive about it because obviously not everyone is having the same experience training it that you did. (just going off the times that people were posting in this thread)

Just want to point out that Paulie is GM Mining and has like 90 blacksmithing. Tongue
The shard has been up for less than 4 weeks and he hasn't been overly insane with his mining/gathering time, plus his script is a bit flawed.
The increased skill-gain weekend helped a lot as well.

I think that blacksmithing can be GMd in 1 month IF you personally mine all the ingots. This could be shortened by buying ingots from people.

Remember, of course that the server doesn't plan on going anywhere any time soon and there's plenty of stuff to do besides gain skills 24/7.
Take your time. There's no rush to GM everything. Try some of the mini-games in the Casino, go hunt, etc.

You're listing one character that has one GM resource gathering skill wow. You saying he's nearing 90 blacksmith. Shards been up for a month and it takes what another 2 more crafting skills along with BS just to make an HH. Thats another say 2 months before HH's are even craftable? Thats saying that you start with 3 crafting skills like himself. What about everyone starting at 40? I'm not complaining just stating Big Grin

I stopped keeping track of this anyway for it was becoming a pain and as shade stated he knows how long it takes. I was just going to give everyone a rough draft and explain what I did and how long it took. Wasn't trying to start anything just want other players to know how to use my information and make it better for themselves. Have a great and wonderful mining experience Big Grin

Have to consider this is without buying ingots. People will start selling them and people can focus on crafting more than gathering once that happens.

Implying that tink and alch take a month each? Carp and Blacksmith are the hardest skills, by quite a bit. The other craft skills are still a bit tough but pale in comparison to those two.

Also starting a character who you plan on making a crafter without starting with the craft skills seems pretty silly.

Its easy for most people to find problems in the here and now without looking at how it may effect the future. Everyone has opinions on how each skills gains should be but I find the current way to be the most balanced for the long run. I didn't make the craft skills hard so players would suffer, I did it for the shards economy to be stable. Granted this also takes the economy longer to get going but once it does it will definitely be worth the wait.

I would also like to point out that you said the shard has been up less than 4 weeks and he had GM mining in 3 weeks. His pick says 120 hours now according to my calculations that 40 hours a week. Thats a full time job and that doesn't seem a bit insane?

actually i gmed mining in 16 days from the shard opening........wow im a fucking loser
#22

I'm only 10 days old on account with most combats GM and 86 mining. I think i'm the fucking loser you were just already at 100 or I would have used myself Big Grin

This ignored section of my post was what I meant to be the main message.
