The way skills worked in 51a

In 51a, you could simply tab out of combat and stealth, meditate, detect, etc.
It's really a bother that the combat check here is a total check and not a check just for the player trying to use the skill. This is not how 51a was at all and it is something that I think was a key aspect of that version of Ultima.
